Small Cargo Dock

With the cargo barges mod seemingly broken permanently this makes a great alternative to the large vanilla cargo harbor. This will be the asset to save my archipelago map!

One more imprtant thing to know: if you have an existing asset which is CargoHarborAI, you can go to Barges options in asset editor and it provides a button to automatically patch all fields. All you'll have to do after that is to replace the vehicle segments with Ferry Path and adjust the spawn points accordingly (you can use my Advanced Building Editor -> just keep in mind that the cargo spawn/unspawn points are not automatically placed)

I saw two additional ferry paths: dock path and dockway path. I didn't know which one to choose, so I looked at BloodPenguin's harbor and it was using a "Ferry Path". Are these two I couldn't choose from Extra Ferry Components? (I have both it and More Network Stuff and dunno from which each tool comes from)

@Revolver Ocelot, It's probably better to do a version that starts fresh by importing the model using BP's barge harbor template rather than trying to change ItemClass on this existing asset. It might work but it's best to construct it exactly the way it was intended.

Also the default ferry path doesn't seem like a good fit upon testing so I might try a version using one-ways from Extra Ferry Components on either side of the dock.

At least I now tested a scenario: if both warehouses have different goods assigned, can they transport a third different one? Yes they can.

Here I set up a flour dock, a fish dock and put a post office with a sorting facility on the other side. Mail was successfully imported and transported.

Oh dear, how silly I am. I tested the mod all this time with the warehouse option disabled. So when I reactivated it, the warehouse selection boxes were there :P

When I read your comment it came to me that I hadn't tested with the option on.

I though that by using your dock as the asset template and changing some parameters, like itemClass and AI it wouldn't import the warehouse.

I was wrong :P

I have one in testing as well, just want to make sure the pathing is right before releasing. How'd you remove the warehousing option?

I originally borrowed the model from the Fisherman Docks with permission for an old farming extractor building before Sunset Harbor and just kept using it. It's simple enough that it should be fine for another repurposing.

There is one bug with the modification: the barges spawn on the road and get stuck, so I'm using BloodyPenguin's "Land Ship" mod for them to unstuck themselves.

@Ciar Aon, I took the liberty of creating a modified copy of your small dock to use barges. I haven't published on the workshop as I haven't asked your permission. I did this modification as I needed a small barge dock for my tiny isolated islands. It works :)

It is without the warehouse.

Here is a screenshot of one of the islands. It has your Small Cargo Dock on the right side that imports/exports from outside and the modified version on the left, that distributes the cargo the other islands and mainland.

@Ciar Aon You're right, the warehouse functionality is completely independent.
Madisonian  [author] 17 May, 2021 @ 12:10pm
@BloodyPenguin Yeah I'll just use the barge harbor as a template; I assumed it was a different AI given the descriptions but I see now it's just CargoHarborAI and then altered by the mod.

Mainly I was curious as to how the warehouse storage was implemented, since I want to make a land based cold storage option for the fish industry (warehousing was the only thing holding back an entire integration of Fish into the Industries DLC supply chain). Looks like I can just make a ground version of the barge harbor and then not use the ferry routes, since the warehousing seems to work independently. Will have to test.

@Ciar Aon BTW, please keep in mind that one should not change AI to any of AI's that the mod provides. Barge harbors should use CargoHarborAI. And the mod will take care of converting the AI itself.

I have an updated version for you to check, please add me.

Yeah just trying out the new mod now, I'll take a look at the AI for converting this when I have free time.

@Ciar Aon, there is a new barge mod, and it is really easy to convert this asset to use it.
