I've done it in the past, why the lights were removed and only the chem-lights
among other things but try with zombies. Welcome back to Arma!

I got back into Arma. And I decided to turn this into a horror show by setting it to midnight, fighting the FIA, using only flashlights, UGL flares, and chemlights.

If somehow they all die, will they respawn? Also when theres
shooting going on around them, normally they would run and lie down, so
a script would be needed to make them be more immersive,
theres really not much more i can add to the mission without killing the performance.

Though i will think about and will test it out to have Ai you can recruit as that was
asked before, it needs some testing to determine what they'll do and how they'll respond.

The problem with ai teammates is 3 things,
1. If you die and respawn you may not have command of them anymore.
2. Theres no guarantee they will follow you and or find their way around and into buildings.
3. If AI team mates die which they will, you'll need to recruit them again.

Adding civilians only takes away from the performance as that is the real concern.
If i were to add civilians and idk how many, you may not see them that much or at all,
once you spawn in 120 enemy soldiers to garrison and then spawn in patrols your
performance would tank.

Ya i love this mission too, i want to do more to it but cant determine what
else i can add or do without it effecting the performance.
Glad you like it, remember to run it through mp lan and configure the parameters before you play,
and dont forget you can load up any mod with factions and play against them.

I see, well how about i take it look at it on the weekend as i have weekends off from work, weekdays i usually only have 2-4hrs to do something but part of that is eating, and then working on something if i have the energy. So i will do that for you at least.

No problem... when I spoke of constructions I was referring to visual density only. no mechanics or editing. As for my mission, there is no problem, I just wanted you who have a lot of experience to look at the concept only. but that's it. grateful once more. good luck in the project. :steamthumbsup:

Sorry for replying late, so why did you feel the density of the buildings was complicated?
When you play how many do you garrison, and how many patrols do you use, time of day, weapons, what mods if any.
As for your mission, i appreciate the offer but im a bit busy with working with my own projects.
i would suggest put the mission on the workshop and get some feedback for it, or even share it on BI forums and have folks give you some feedback that way.

@Gunter Severloh I found the AI handling very good. What I found complicated was the density of buildings. But who am I to say something hehehe... I'm just a layman. By the way, I would like to share a mission I remade called World at War. Ya guys if you want good performance in this drop you view distance to the bottom ---> 500, didn't think it would make a difference in VR for me but it did, i was running full 104 garrisons with 2-3 squads patrolling and i had 67fps!

Thanks for the idea, and ya i agree sad Armaholic was shutdown, but my compilation lists still have alot of links that work. As for winter buildings that might be possible however i would need to do some research before i do something like that, it would take a lot of work, i would need exact buildings to replace with whats in the mission already so dont think it would be realistic.
In the meantime the project im looking to do will make this mission amazing, we'll see.

Ok, the Performance Warning post above has my specs and my tests and fps i get.

Im starting a project for this mission.

Now this new project if i decide to do it as im doing some research atm, and its
a secret for now, it will add performance to the mission i basically have to rebuild the mission but theres a way to do it, it will be a port of the mission, when and if i release it, it should allow you and anyone else to have the best performance possible, and allow me to build the mission further.

It will be complex to build as i have to learn how to do some new things, i will be starting it this weekend if i decide to do it, once its built and i release it, i will link it here. I cant make promises but from what i was told it will work and the performance should be real good because of it.

So this project the main goal is performance #1 and
#2 to be able to update the mission further.

@Gunter Severloh I7 7700k 1070ti 16gb ssd 500gb. 15 bots no garrison, mods rhs russian and usa, lan server, I just played in lan server mode. fps drop 59 to 39 40 :steambored:

Plays fine for me, what are your computer specs?
Read the performance Warning up above.

What settings did you use, how many AI did you garrison, how many patrols did you spawn, what mods if any were you running, what is your view distance set at, also did you play through mp lan?
Theres a number of things that effect fps, tell me your computer specs and i can give an idea as to why the mission may not perform well for you.

Ya man, its a good mission to practice in it can be as hard as you want it to be, the difference is in how you use your tactics to win. If you watch some of the update videos i go over some various tactics i use when i play as i demonstrate.

Hi mate. Do not worry about using you time for this. I just thought the ambient was very well done. I did not know the parameters can be modified. I have tried changing a few, and it works quite well, so please use your time for more new amazing missions.

Thing about this mission in terms of pvp is its not setup for pvp, so players as in coop will respawn in random spawn points based on where they start. I have built a pvp version of the mission but it needs alot of work yet to sort out, pvp is not really my thing so idk if i will work on it or how the response would be to it, so in a way i dont want to waste my time unless theres a demand for it, if anything i could build it and see, idk i'll look into it.
But any more questions, or feedback on the mission dont hesitate to ask, please rate too, i spent alot of time on this! Cheers!

Welcome, i thought about it, but then i want to point out that when you take all the objects on the mission and place them somewhere, all the planks, ramps ect,. wont sit, they'll all be floating, i dealt with this with my port from my original mission to VR here, i had to retry many times to get it to work, so its not ideal and wont work in a composition.
Although i never tried, but porting from one map to another if thats the idea will break the balance, the connected planks and such it becomes and unplayable mess, best just turn off manual spawns and garrison, and to make it more immersive turn off the overhead hud in the mp parameters too so you dont see that since there are no enemies to kill.

Thanks, release as a composition hmm, well you can already do that without spawning anything when you play, basically at the start of the mission just choose manual spawn, and turn off the garrison in the parameters then play.
Other then that just unpbo the mission and look at it, its heavily coded. Would that work for you?

I was wondering if you would consider releasing this ARENA (and also your IFA3 one) just as a composition.

I think it would be great for 1vs 1 snipers to practice against ieach other.

Thanks, and thanks for the ideas, for allied patrol there are no allies, its an arena designed to put you solo or you and your friends against an enemy of your choice. As for decoration its something i've considered but need to mess with it a bit, mission overall isn't a mission with a story and objectives its mainly for practice, and to shoot some enemies for fun.
Whatever you like to do in it, there are objectives but they are optional, if you do plan on completing them then you will end the mission complete.

Right now any updates are on hold as the last update was but a couple weeks ago in which since i been working on a new mission and once released will come back to this. Any more thoughts, or feedback let me know. Cheers!

Very good mission! Just some ideas: lightly decorated interiors for increased immersion, if possible (not in excess in order to not afect perfomance), and make allied AI to patrol as well as the enemy.
