I Really enjoyed using this, it was like a first person version of project zomboid, and I think that it does better than every other collection mod pack, or mutation in general in enhancing the scary factor of the game.
This really immersed me in the world, every bullet counted, I had to strategically maneuver the map in ways I hadn't done before just so I didn't get myself killed.
and I think the funniest part is, I hadn't even completed a single campaign with this enabled, I got to the finale on each one, but in the end I got overwhelmed, or I died by shooting a propane tank..
a great mod overall, can be rough around the edges sometimes..
I've been working towards recovery for a long time but when I make it there one day I will continue the work on this mod
It hasn't been abandoned and I will always be here for it's community in the meantime c:
In the event I'm no longer around, I have added someone as a co-creator to inherit this mod and its Discord who will care for its community and hire developers for its continuance
you can also type !help to view other settings Dark Days has
https://youtu.be/y4QsGPVoxBs?si=bXnDeDwypcbKWSIX
If nothing you've tried will work you could try deleting the "Infected" folder located at
dark days.vpk > Root > Models it contains stuff for better ragdolling and more precise combat hitboxes it might cause a load order conflict with XDR base
Have you tried restarting your game after enabling all the mods you want to play with? Sometimes things with mods can fix by restarting the game after enabling or disabling mods
I might re-make the mod from scratch because I didn't even know how to mod for L4D2 or the coding language when I first started this mod
What is the console command name for this mutation mod?
this might be the issue
Please HELP!
not sure why everybody talks about the crosshairs so much
"From the main menu click "Mutations" then "Change mutation" then select "Dark Days" -- (if playing with friends set "server type" to "local server")"
this mod has potential
I will work to fix the mod mod as soon as I get internet the color scheme is also being changed as apart of the next update
Justified: the color scheme is set up terribly, everything is gray and as if in a fog, zombies run without heads, all actions are slow, running from zombies will not work. Why can't you run when your life is at stake?
The worst thing is when you fall and you can't shoot
I like mods like this but not this (( sad
biles were repurposed into a makeshift "holster state" for the player to use but bots have it to this state was required for a lot of the scripts I was creating and to prevent vanilla bugs
I was going to use the defibrillator instead but animations didn't look right I am currently trying to work with an animator to fix temporary banaids like this
I will push working on an overhaul for the weapon stats higher up in the priority list
from the main menu click "Mutations" then "Change mutation" then select "Dark Days" instead of selecting campaign
(if you hold down 'tab' you can actually view the health/items of you and your team but currently I'm still adding a way to check ammo
to help keep track all weapons currently have enough ammo to reload 6 times)
After some rounds done, I can say I like 'Dark Days' very much.
I really enjoy such challenging designs with cool ideas. Maybe I can say I didn't love the forced HUD removal, as not knowing the HP/items/ammo makes it harder to start. But it is a design choice that many people love, of course.
As the creator of the 'True Dead' mutation, I am happy to see a similar mod that seems to share most ideas I had when I was creating my mod. I see many awesome concepts you added in your features list, some of which I too wanted to add in my mod. But I ended up scrapping them because of my lack of time, or knowing they would be too much for the community at the time. Although many users may not read it, you solved this with a detailed post to explain the new features.
You also handled the removal of features, like specials or AI interactions very well. Your fixes feel very natural, which, I know, isn't easy.
