Ive not got a working copy at the moment, so I cant offer any direction, other than the previous poster recommending not to have the AP track enhancement pack installed, which he claims causes the crashes. Might be worth removing that, do a repair to make sure all part of the sim are installed, and then try it agian.

For various reasons, I cant and I wont do any more on this route. Lets just say ive had something of a falling out with the developers of Trainsim (or so it seems, im somewhat in the dark here) and leave it at that. I hope you all continue to have fun with it, because I put a great deal of work into it, on this and many other routes. You at least seem to appreciate it, im glad somebody does.

I have applied the AP Track Enhancement pack.
Now your route crashes at Carlisle, it seems there is vertex buffer error in the AP version of SC_track01.bin (concrete mainline track) The RSC original loads and looks OK.
But since your Carlisle track layout is different from the RSC original steam era route, there could also be an error in the track geometry somewhere?
stuart666  [author] 1 Dec, 2022 @ 3:25am
Oh, thank you for that. So its created by third party, not anything wrong with the route Per Se?
Thibord 28 Nov, 2022 @ 1:02pm
The crash in Carlisle is caused by the AP Track Enhancement Pack
stuart666  [author] 25 Mar, 2022 @ 1:09am
Yeah, if you can make it work, please, knock yourself out.
Actually, it was largely done by me, without bragging. I was on the team that built the original route back in 2012. I laid everything from Settle Junction to Kirby Stephen. Seems a lifetime ago now.
grahamritchie800 24 Mar, 2022 @ 2:41pm
Can I clone this route and do electrification to the whole route between Carlisle and Skipton? If you let me I will put in the description that it was partly done by you and also I would post a comment to the route so that you can check it out.
stuart666  [author] 19 Sep, 2021 @ 12:16am
Incidentally, thank you to Warwick Rail for that list, I had intended to do so but never got around to it.
stuart666  [author] 19 Sep, 2021 @ 12:15am
I cant remember if I did or didnt. Should be relatively easy to add via scenario editor for anyone using it though.
El_Muna 18 Sep, 2021 @ 8:49am
Include Quick Drive ai ?
Warwick Rail 19 Aug, 2021 @ 8:33pm
Here is a list of all the workshop scenarios for the route.

Sam @ Blast Pipe Productions 19 Feb, 2021 @ 2:09am
That's sad to hear but understandable. Still, I know a few people that might be interested in doing something with it, either a scenery update, time period change or extension... It's a big if, but if they were interested, would you have any objections to using this route as a template to work from?

You should be able to clone the route and use the cloned version to create a new version I reckon, so it should be doable... :)
Cyclone 16 Feb, 2021 @ 3:33pm
Understandable! Also understandable why people want modern routes, trains are generally easier to drive. LOL
stuart666  [author] 16 Feb, 2021 @ 4:29am
Its not really their bag, they like modern routes. Im not criticising them, its just what gets the sales, unfortunately.
Cyclone 15 Feb, 2021 @ 3:17pm
Congrats on getting a spot with a dev. I wonder if you might be able to interest them in your project, or if you attempted it? If they are not interested, then yeah, probably no dev will be.
stuart666  [author] 15 Feb, 2021 @ 12:54am
Id like to, but i cant. Its locked, and there is no easy way of unlocking it.
Added to the problems people have with it, it seems as if there is little possiblity of doing anything with it.
I was really hoping a dev at some point would pick up on it, and support carrying it further, at least to Bradford, preferably to Leeds. But nobody is interested, so im afraid thats probably it. I do map work for the devs of trainsim now, that takes up much of my time when ive got a contract on the go.

Im sorry guys, but these things happen. If you want to see it done further, write polite letters to the devs saying 'do a modern or historic version of this'. Id be delighted to do it.
Sam @ Blast Pipe Productions 14 Feb, 2021 @ 6:31am
Probably been asked this before, but do you have any intention to do any other versions of this route? Eg, extension to Leeds, backdating to steam era, updating to present day, etc? Love this route!
Cyclone 19 Jan, 2021 @ 9:31am
By the way, if you can identify the issue asset, you can remove it and create a patched version to add as a link here, instructing downloaders to run it. That way you can edit the otherwise final route. They would have to unsubscribe to maintain the change without redownload, however, or otherwise clone the route to a different folder.
Cyclone 19 Jan, 2021 @ 9:29am
Hi stuart. I'm starting a Youtube channel and just came upon this project. I see it's marked final, so I also would like to see some scenarios. I find a proper scenario more fulfilling than a quick drive. I do plan to at some point visit the regular Settle to Carlisle line, but would go elsewhere before coming back to this project, so you have plenty of time. =)
Viper-CT 1 Jan, 2021 @ 2:04am
Fair enough...
I just thought that because im literally terrible at making scanario`s, TS is always so stubborn.
:steamsad:
stuart666  [author] 1 Jan, 2021 @ 1:23am
No. Have you thought about making a route, so I dont have to? :)
I dont see the problem. There is a mode where you can select the route and the locomotive so you shouldnt need to make any scenarios.
Viper-CT 30 Dec, 2020 @ 8:55am
Have you thought about making scanarios for this route instead of us having to make them? Its hard to make scanarios anyway on the settle & Carlisle line anyway due to the awkward signal positions.
stuart666  [author] 25 Nov, 2020 @ 12:19am
Unfortunately there isnt much I can do. I locked the game some time ago, and if it uses awkward assets, it would probably crash my game before I could take them out anyway.
I wish DTG would just leave shit alone.
Desert Eagle 20 Nov, 2020 @ 5:25pm
I've got the same problem in Carlisle (crashes with an out of memory error in 32/64 bits) and tried reinstalling the scenario to no avail. Also tried running the original DTG version and it works just fine, so it's not an issue with the original version or it's assets.

My guess is, something changed in TS that makes handling a particular (new?) asset in the Carlisle scenery an issue now. Have no idea what could be since I can't even open any scenario that starts in Carlisle or travel there. It crashes opening or as soon as I get too close (around 2-3 miles away right after I pass the last abandoned station) to Carlisle and the game tries to load the scenery.
stuart666  [author] 13 Nov, 2020 @ 2:02am
Ive not made any updates for several years, so if it was working but no longer does, ive really no explanation.
The only suggestion I can make is after uninstalling the route, physically delete the asset pack for the route, and delete the folder that contained the route (you would have to check via the editor). Then reinstall, and double check when you reinstalled the route you get it all by doing a verify game option via steam.
Has anyone tried to see whether this problem is occuring with the standard route in Settle? Which would imply DTG have messed up some assets in an update.
TheTrainMaster15 9 Nov, 2020 @ 5:45am
i love this route. but everytime without fail once the tileset for carlisle loads the game crashes. ive tried clean install of TS, clear cache, turning graphics down and nothing works. really unfortunate but all the parts ive driven have been great.
cirrenna 6 Nov, 2020 @ 11:27am
Tried that but it did not work.Is it possible that because I have DTG's Settle to Carlisle and another route, which I think was created by Jetgriff there is some sort of compromise?
stuart666  [author] 6 Nov, 2020 @ 12:30am
Ok, my advice is to uninstall the settle and carlisle route and reinstall it, or at the very least ensure you have all the assets by doing a check. Then uninstall this route and reinstall it.
cirrenna 1 Nov, 2020 @ 6:42am
Downloaded this but it will not load when I press Drive. No assets appear to be missing.
stuart666  [author] 30 Sep, 2020 @ 4:39am
I actually have a couple of WTT's for the line, but I just never got around to doing scenarios for it. A pity, because there is quite a lot of rolling stock about now that would suit it for the 70's and 80's.
Think that one is on Youtube. There are also a couple of really good railtour footage films taken from the cab of a DMU in the 1980's, that was really useful for placing signals.
[WW] CG 30 Sep, 2020 @ 3:13am
Yes, reinstalling the Settle-Carlisle DLC fixed it.

I have a VHS tape called Steam on the Settle & Carlisle (Border Television, 1983) and while it's focused on steam railtours, it does talk about the state of the line. Of course they were trying to stealth close the line then. It's actually rather interesting for scenarios.
stuart666  [author] 30 Sep, 2020 @ 1:01am
Just to be clear you fixed it by reinstalling? Hope so.

Yeah, BR had a lot of weird ideas at the time. Most of these stations were shut, but were open for railtours and I think rambler trips IIRC. I originally was going to kill all the platforms, till it turn out that whilst closed, they were still being used.

There is a really great video on youtube that illustrates the run down but still operating nature of the line. It languished like this for about 20 years with BR trying to close it entirely, and eventually being thwarted.

[WW] CG 26 Sep, 2020 @ 1:58pm
Also, regarding what was said about Ribblehead station, according to the 1989 timetable, Ribblehead had a 6 trains per day monday - saturday, and 2 trains per day on sundays, in the southbound direction only. It had absolutely no northbound service. I assume it'd been like that throughout the 1980s and possibly the 70s too. I'd be willing to bet that the line on some days had a better service from railtours than regular services from BR, which is terrifying, frankly.
[WW] CG 26 Sep, 2020 @ 12:42pm
Re-installing the S&C DLC seems to have kicked its backside. I've had a lot of problems recently where DLCs (particularly older ones) will just straight crash the game if I try to load them.
stuart666  [author] 26 Sep, 2020 @ 7:18am
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Settle and Carlisle route as well and see if that makes a difference.

The only other thing I can suggest is verifying your trainsim installation, and seeing if it installed all the files.
[WW] CG 26 Sep, 2020 @ 2:44am
Yeah, I've got the same issue even after re-installing, crashes with an in-page error. I have a feeling something in the update to TS2021 has broken it. Shame.
TheTrainMaster15 21 Sep, 2020 @ 12:08am
does this route cause anyone elses game to crash anytime you load the Carlisle tiles?
stuart666  [author] 29 May, 2020 @ 2:20am
If you have the latest updated TS, and own settle and carlisle, you should own all of it. There may be some elements of the building pack that arent included with S and C, im not sure. But it wont be much if anything.
I really must do some scenarios for it, time as always has got in the way.
JustAHillbilly777 28 May, 2020 @ 7:29am
So what're the required DLC or DLC's for this? Is it just the base Settle To Carlisle route or do I need more?
stuart666  [author] 20 Dec, 2019 @ 1:41am
The other platform wasnt present at Ribble till something like the 1990's. The original was demolished back in the 1960's, so in this period at least, Ribble was a one platform station. I cant recall if there are points to allow you to use it in either direction, but in truth, in this period, I dont believe it was used at all.
rogerayres 18 Dec, 2019 @ 10:58pm
Hello a very nice made route what I have seen of it,but I'm missing the smaller platform at ribble station.
stuart666  [author] 23 Aug, 2019 @ 3:44am
Thank you so much. :)
D5581 21 Aug, 2019 @ 11:10am
Thanks very much, I've tried that and now it works perfectly. Such a well done route - can't praise it enough!
stuart666  [author] 21 Aug, 2019 @ 12:29am
Im not sure why, it worked fine last time I tried it. Perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling it again?

There isnt much I can do if there is a problem im afraid, the route is finished and im locked out now. It certainly did work though.
D5581 17 Aug, 2019 @ 8:00am
Fantastic route, however it doesn't allow me to create a free roam. Any suggestions on what is going wrong here? Many thanks
rikwesson 3 Feb, 2019 @ 11:15pm
Have this working now, re-subscribed the route, and re-installed the scenarios. The quick drive did work, and after I put the scenarios back in the two that failed started. Fingers crossed that that has sorted it, and I can go back to using what is a wonderful regression of the route.
stuart666  [author] 3 Feb, 2019 @ 4:28am
Yeah, cant explain that one. I suspect you may have a similar problem with Settle and Carlisle standard route. Might be worth flying this one past Dovetail and seeing what they think.
rikwesson 3 Feb, 2019 @ 3:40am
I'm having the same problem as chris5012. I'm also getting access violation with this route in 64 bit, haven't tried 32 bit as I now never use it!
chris5012 2 Feb, 2019 @ 11:34pm
Excellent update to the route. Couldn't play it in 64bit (ACCESS VIOLATION) error message but it was absolutely fine in 32bit.
stu266 31 Jul, 2018 @ 6:20am
Hi Stuart. Thanks for your reply. I checked through my scenario and found i had ticked the 'force simple controls' box. The Settle to Skipton extension has realy improved the route. Thanks again.
