I see thank you. I'm playing a japan colonization run and I was wondering way the option was not popping up.
LimonenZitrone  [author] 18 Jul @ 6:43am
@Nathe235: There is a discussion that lists all the requirements and in-game a help decision that fires an event that shows them too. For a dominion you need to be not a subject and it has to be after 1700 or the current age has to be age of absolutism. For releasing a dominion in a trade company region instead you must not be a subject, not be a dominion tag yourself and have your capital outside of china, india, japan, oceania, africa and the east indies and you must own a province in the respective trade company regions that is not connected to your capital via a land connection (including straits).
Nathe235 17 Jul @ 9:03pm
Can any nation have dominions?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 16 Jul @ 6:46am
@Dubai: Sending treasure fleets is tied to paying tarrifs, so no since Dominions pay you like vassals.
Dubai 15 Jul @ 8:49pm
Do Dominions send gold fleets? I really want to use the dominions but I’m worried I’ll loose out on the gold money.
LimonenZitrone  [author] 12 Jul @ 3:43pm
@One Casual Player: Dominions usually span multiple trade company regions. If you release on in those provinces, any province you get in those trade company regions that does not have a land connection to your capital will automatically be ceded to the dominion. So for most cases you can't have a dominion and a trade company in the same region(s). But of course you can use trade companies instead of releasing a dominion.
One Casual Player 12 Jul @ 10:56am
I believe I asked a similar question before but missed the response. Can you still have trade companies in regions where dominions are and vice versa?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 6 Jul @ 4:49am
@WildCard: Do they have enough development and prestige to increase the rank? For them breaking away, do you know if they perhaps somehow got an election? That shouldn't happen, but would be my only guess what could have happened.
WildCard 5 Jul @ 9:50am
I seem to be having trouble with "Sister Republic" It seems from my research, they should be able to increase gov rank, but my sister republic is staying as a duchy.

Also I've had instances where they've randomly broken away, and I don't get a restoration of union CB on them?

anyone got any advice, cheers
LimonenZitrone  [author] 28 Jun @ 3:08pm
@One Casual Player: No idea. But judging based on that mod's description, I don't see why it wouldn't.
One Casual Player 27 Jun @ 7:02pm
Is this compatible with eclipse of empires?
I am Thaco 18 Jun @ 4:11pm
that's awesome! thanks for the info
LimonenZitrone  [author] 18 Jun @ 2:33pm
@I am Thaco: Dominions give a merchant just like colonial nations. Autonomous dominions give 2 merchants.
I am Thaco 18 Jun @ 1:40pm
Is there any chance that dominions will have merchants added to them? I don't see anything that adds them and I'm in ironman and don't wanna setup a dominion and lose access to the merchant
LimonenZitrone  [author] 22 May @ 9:07pm
@johnscar90: They behave just like normal PUs, just that you cannot integrate them yourself. Instead there is a chance that increases every 10 years that you integrate them. If it's a success, you get an event where you pay some diplo power and annex them instantly.
johnscar90 22 May @ 8:52pm
how do integrated PU work?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 22 May @ 6:44pm
@TheKingChristian: Yes, new provinces you conquer in the regions will get ceded to the dominion too.
TheKingChristian 22 May @ 6:16pm
Is that even if i take new provinces? For example if i took Madagascar AFTER creating the dominion, will the province automatically go to them?

& Ah okay, that's a shame.

& I had the entirety of South Africa to myself as Britain, but it kept on picking some random low development province in the South East as capital instead of Cape Town. The same with my East African dominion, some random province.

Thanks for the quick reply mate, appreciate it
LimonenZitrone  [author] 22 May @ 4:37pm
@TheKingChristian: Not really doable because I made it so all provinces get ceded to the dominion in their respective regions, so even if you would take one from them it would be given back. But I also think the vassal interaction wouldn't work overseas.
As for the capital, there is a specific province for certain dominions. If they have that, it becomes the capital. Otherwise it's just the first province they get ceded.
TheKingChristian 22 May @ 3:56pm
& Also, would you mind telling me how the dominions choose their capital? It seems like every time i do it it chooses the lowest or one of the lowest development provinces every time as their capital, instead of the obvious highly developed ones.
It also seems they don't even have a main trade city which is bizarre.

Thanks
TheKingChristian 22 May @ 3:20pm
Hello mate, thanks for your work on this it's a really good mod.

One question though.
Would it be possible to add an interaction to be able to seize provinces from dominions in the same way you can with a vassal?

For example, i like playing as an island-only nation as the UK and i like to control strategic points in the world with states, such as the caribbean islands and madagascar. I generally do not allow myself to directly hold land on continents unless with the intention of later giving it to a subject.
As you can imagine this causes issues like when i have madagascar stated and i use the decision to create the east african dominion. It takes all of madagascar off of me, but obviously because of my playstyle this is not ideal.

I don't know how much work this is to do or not, but i thought it was worth an ask.

Thanks a lot mate, love the mod
LimonenZitrone  [author] 19 May @ 8:46am
@Herr Bellius Von Bunnybutt: You can't annex them manually, but if you form the Netherlands via the reforms and special decision from the Dutch Provinces mechanic, you will annex them automatically.
Herr Bellius Von Bunnybutt 18 May @ 8:35pm
can you incorperate dutch provinces?
Banan 7 May @ 6:24pm
I love that this mod allows me to clean up colonial borders. At least I think it does that. Might be a different mod from the expanded family. How I wish this function was in the base game.
LimonenZitrone  [author] 13 Apr @ 11:19am
@Tetley: If it's a company, that sounds like the DLC subject from the British mission tree, not the dominion you release via decision. But also the dominion released from decision can be a more generic one than British India, for example if British India already exists.
Tetley 13 Apr @ 9:06am
just spawns dominion of india, no british india or viceroyalty or autonomous dominion. the flag has no union jack. its listed as a company.
LimonenZitrone  [author] 9 Apr @ 6:25pm
@Ale: Stato da Mars already transfert trade power by default, while all those other types you mentioned do not.
Ale 9 Apr @ 5:50pm
Could you bring "enable divert trade" for Stato da Màr? At the subjects tab, 100% of subject's trade power for +30% liberty desires. Regular vassals, marches, and the new agricultural marches, defensive marches and naval marches all have this option
LimonenZitrone  [author] 7 Apr @ 7:53pm
@Tetley: Nothing changed about dominions.
Tetley 7 Apr @ 1:48pm
and autonomous dominions gone
Tetley 7 Apr @ 1:24pm
what happened to british india
LimonenZitrone  [author] 2 Mar @ 6:00pm
@Hertez: That's a fantasy total overhaul mod, so probably no.
Hertez 2 Mar @ 11:20am
Would it work with anbennar ?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 27 Feb @ 4:08pm
@The Wizard Guy Who Does Things: No idea, you would have to test that yourself. I assume though that if it works, any unique subject types are changed to whatever the equivalent is for vanilla vassals.
Does this mod work with converters to Victoria 2 or 3?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 24 Feb @ 1:03pm
@FCaligvla: I don't change the vanilla subjects, so they work the same way as in the base game. PUs can have their own vassals. Marches I'm not sure, but I would assume no. Some of the custom subjects may be able to, though usually only the more free ones.
FCaligvla 24 Feb @ 9:47am
Can senior partners have their own vassals and allies? And I saw that Ottomans' march Algeria has its own vassal, a march can have its own vassal in this mod?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 17 Feb @ 2:37pm
@Yakobobey: Like giving a different country your subjects? Not really. There is a way to give certain subjects to other subjects of you, like a vassal to a bordering PU, but nothing for giving subjects to other independent nations.
Yakobobey 16 Feb @ 11:08pm
Is there a way to trade subjects between empires in this?
Radish 3 Feb @ 10:42am
Okay, I found it and changed it myself and surprisingly it works :D . Thanks for the info.
And as for merchants, it was true that only more provinces were needed than I thought.
LimonenZitrone  [author] 3 Feb @ 10:08am
@Rzodkiew: Dominions do give a merchant just like colonies, Autonomous even give two. And treasure fleets are tied to paying tariffs. So nothing to be done about that, unless you enable tariffs for Dominions, which I won't do.
Radish 3 Feb @ 9:40am
+additionally, unfortunately dominions do not provide additional merchants like Trade company or colonies. There is a slight distaste because it is actually something in between but in a way that does not provide key bonuses from both sides...
Radish 3 Feb @ 9:02am
Hey, I think Dominion SHOULD give its overlord the profits from gold like colonies do. I don't know if this is a deliberate mistake or a deliberate change but it kind of misses the point. I don't pay huge amounts of money for gold in South Africa just so that the bot could place more useless fleets (in his hands) :D
LimonenZitrone  [author] 2 Feb @ 1:06pm
@Avekat: If it's modifiers scripted in the subject type itself, then they are kept - for example the war contribution bonus from a government attribute. If it's a modifier applied by effect or a triggered modifier, then it entirely depends on how that is handled. The modifier you mentioned specifically seems to be removed only when Norway isn't your subject or isn't lesser in a union, so it should be kept for Real Unions as well.
Avekat 2 Feb @ 12:50pm
Does changing a personal union to real union remove the modifers i get for a personal union. For example if i degrade the norweigian crown and later make them a real union, would i then lose the bonus it gives?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 12 Jan @ 1:28pm
@Itzninja2018: No, just like any other mod changing or adding gameplay related things. Only graphics and translation mods allow achievements.
Itzninja2018 12 Jan @ 5:51am
Does this mod allow for achievments?
LimonenZitrone  [author] 4 Jan @ 12:58pm
@欧内的手Vastille: You need to change a define value (OVERSEAS_CLIENT_STATES) for that, otherwise it's not possible.
欧内的手Vastille 4 Jan @ 3:25am
May i ask how can i make a overseas cilent states?Thank you!
Shadowthorne 29 Dec, 2024 @ 10:54pm
seemed to be tied to making them Pronoia
