A fix will come out shortly, along with some new improved weather effects!
I tried spawning the ice and regular variants in and they seemed to be fine?
I haven't had any problems like that myself, so please share any more info if you have it
Its all baked into this mod, so all you need to do is spawn any variant with the solar system editor
- Added support for the new planetary encounters. Stations and wrecks will spawn on land, while wrecks will spawn underwater (Water mod version only)
- Fixed the Graphic driver crash when spawning the water mod version
- Updated the water settings (Waves speed and height, water colors and more)
Any idea why this is causing the game to crash? I was setting the planet size to 120 Km as suggested.
<CustomMaterialTable>
<Material Material="DoverIce2" Value ="20" MaxDepth ="20"/>
<Material Material="DoverSand" Value ="70" MaxDepth ="3"/>
<Material Material="DoverRock" Value ="160" MaxDepth ="10"/>
</CustomMaterialTable>
Maybe, this could help.
And for the second one, hmm that is strange. I havent really looked at this in a while, so something might have changed
However, I am planing on making a patch (which you load before the original mod) to make my weapon mods support IO, so while I am at it, I can make a patch for my planets as well.
are they somewhere strange im not thinking of looking? i must have covered 200 square km and found nothing
I am so happy to keep this planet on my server, its my favorite of all the modded planets in the workshop so far. Thanks again!
I recommend in vanilla making a small grid ship with a small rotor and removing the head, placing a large rotor head above and connecting them together, then building a large grid ore detector on that.
Or you could add a buffed ore detector mod, I usually run 150m small grid and 300 large grid
For the surface ore rocks, in vanilla they too are quite good as you can simply spot one, fly over to it with your jetpack, check the ore and fly to the next one. I added the larger and smaller variants of these rocks to the planet mostly for some diversity, and to nerf the regular ore rocks a bit. Yes its harder to find rocks with ore in it, but they have a chance to spawn with higher tier ores along with uranium to balance it a bit out.
After pasting it into my server's world, Ive done a few scans for ore with either the elite hand drill or a small grid ore detector. Ive found very little ores in the soil, and theyre deep, and very far apart. I have not yet found iron or nickel in the soil, but have found silicon and silver.
The ore-rocks on the surface are almost always just lumps of stone (which I think is simply a performance loss, since stone is hardly valuable). Sometimes they have ores, though its uncommon. I have found all of the ores in these stones over time, including uranium. However, between my light (yet adequate for other planets) ore hunting and surface-stone examination, I have not found enough ore to sustain a player on this planet.
Additionally, there are no marks on the surface to reveal ore anywhere.
Is there an ore map available? Is there a way to know if I have a bug that can be fixed?
Also, a water version will come with the next update! I had some time, so I just tried my hand at editing the height map to work with water.
And I know what you mean by some angles turning black, when you're at ground level and look at the horizon for example, it's kind of buggy, but this is different. It's like your ice texture has no texture but only a normal map, so I get reflectivity but no actual ice texture at all. I get this same exact issue with various planets but not all the time, and I even test all my planets on fresh restarts of the game and shadercache deleted and only that planet in the modlist.
I just tested Elysium alongside other mods which has always had the problem for me, and for some reason, suddenly Elysium ice looks correct. But with Elysium all by itself in the modlist, it becomes the black mirror. Some mod interaction is somehow FIXING the problem that exists when it's all by itself?
So then I tried that approach with with Dover, but no success. lol
I dunno man, I haven't been able to get a handle on these planet problems. I'm pretty baffled.
However, in all tests, the ice/water on Dover seemed to lack a texture. It was nearly perfectly reflective making depth perception mostly impossible. It appeared that it still had at least a normal map layer that was functioning and provided *some* variability in the reflection but it was like the intended texture itself was missing or transparent.
