Deity difficulty works with any storyteller, speeding up adaptation.

If you use Adaptive Cassie on Deity, it's a good mix, since adaptative Cassie is more lenient early game, Deity it will increase the adaptation growth rate. But the storyteller also factors in other things, like experienced colonists and wealth. What Adaptive Cassie does is she already gives Deity's weight to adaptation (but not at Deity's speed).

For those who want a dynamic combo, it's Adaptive Cassie on Deity.

For those who want a (really) hardcore vanilla combo, it's Cassandra Hardcore on Deity.

how does this relate to your adaptive cassie mod? or can it replace it?

Ok

OK. Threats have the same baseline as merciless: 2.2
The main difference is adaption, it is a factor which increases the threat scale when things go right and decreases the threat scale when thing go wrong.
In vanilla, is it rather slow to go up, and has a max at 24% (+/-) which is rarely met because it so slow to go up and blows are so important with each death/down colonist.
In deity difficulty, this factor has a max at 60% (+/-) and it goes up faster.

TLDR: brace for threats roughly 30% larger than merciless if you're doing well, smaller than merciless in dire situations.

It's .xml. But it's hard grasp based on single variables since the changes in difficulty are dynamic and impact adapatation.
Impact on colonies will depend on how they're doing over time.

It is intended to be able to start a game. Actually it's the best way to play it. The main difference with merciless is a steeper adaptation, meaning threats increase faster ( ramp up) as long as there is no death/ down colonist. By comparison, whereas merciless explores a narrow band as your progress, deity is more like a roller coaster with higher peaks and potentially deeper lows in terms of threats.

But it can perfectly be changed in game, like for any other difficulty.

is it possible / indended to be able to start a scenario in this setting or just meant as an endgame challenge only?
