He says this is published somewhere, anybody know where?
carolinawildlife 3 aug 2024 om 8:56
Does it make a river?
PYRO 22 dec 2021 om 13:12
Ah, good to know I just subscribed to this one.
StayHungryStayFoolish 22 dec 2021 om 13:08
No. Chameleon told, that in my output.txt right after TerrainRiverTool all PO fonts were unloaded. The occasional memory access violation happens to me. Many modders checked it, nobody could find the reason, so far...
PYRO 22 dec 2021 om 11:35
@StayHungry, Is this mod causing your game to crash?
StayHungryStayFoolish 20 dec 2021 om 11:41
I got notice that this mod break to load other mods.
Snacko 20 dec 2021 om 8:26
Thanks for this mod! It would be nice if it would remember where I moved the button.
StayHungryStayFoolish 5 okt 2021 om 13:41
Great mod, easy to create a river with this. The button is always on the screen, unless you switch it off in Options menu. See screenshot here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2620474792

@AngelHeavenly -- You mean something that would Undo It?
AngelHeavenly 11 okt 2020 om 1:25
Chirik! The mod is great, but it is inconvenient in that there is no way to undo the changes. Please add this function!
esther.marye 17 aug 2020 om 23:37
moet ik toch maar ff uit proberen buur
Teddy Radko 17 aug 2020 om 11:02
Kinda unrelated, If you ever want a theme song for this mod you can use this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZzE99lkvB4

I heard the guy who uploaded it is very handsome. :)
Krzeszny 14 jun 2020 om 12:53
Thank you. I was actually expecting you to add a button below 'Carve' named 'Carve without reset' or something like that, but it's fine. I also suggest adding info about it in the description.
eelcobaas  [auteur] 14 jun 2020 om 5:51
@Krzeszny (Fox); Good point sir!

There has been an update.
'Clear after carve' added to the options.
Reset button still clears the nodes (should have renamed it :steamfacepalm: )
Krzeszny 14 jun 2020 om 4:00
Thanks for replying and for the tutorial. I think it didn't work for me because I didn't set the depth to 0.

One more thing - so if I create a slope by using LerpHeight, the river's area will be sloped but flat (like in the tutorial), so it won't be a river. I can guess that I would have to then recreate all the nodes and select a proper depth in order to create a river in that flattened slope.

Maybe you could simply add a button that works just like 'Carve' but doesn't remove the nodes. It seems really simple from my point of view.
This would allow 2 things - to test whether the carved river is deep enough and possibly deepen it, or to carve a river in a previously-carved flat slope - all without having to recreate the nodes in order to tweak the depth.
eelcobaas  [auteur] 14 jun 2020 om 3:12
@Krzeszny (Fox); By now I doubt I did understand you correctly but nonetheless,
I added an image describing how to create slopes.
(LerpHeight ignores terrain height when setting nodes. Only use when needed)

Adding features like branching, saving and further integration will not happen soon.
I actually like the suggestions but this mod is close to the limit of what I'm capable of.
(being vanilla might indeed solve this problem...)

I could not recreate the error; I guess it really is an exception (badum tsss)
#serious; I don't know what happened...yet.
Krzeszny 13 jun 2020 om 4:39
Also, I got this error when I tried to carve a second river (right after the original river):

Array index is out of range. [System.IndexOutOfRangeException]

Details:
No details
Krzeszny 12 jun 2020 om 11:07
@eelcobaas depth 0 on start and end nodes? In the description you said "place start and end node higher". I don't understand.
When I set the depth for start and end nodes to 2 (as shallow as IRL) and pressed LerpHeight, it didn't slope the river and a part of my river was going up for a few hundred meters (like the heightmap, so the mod didn't slope the river), which I wasn't able to fix and gave up.
Krzeszny 12 jun 2020 om 11:02
By the way, can you make it so that saving the game before carving saves the river's blueprint? You can for sure imagine how useful that would be. Or just an option in the mod's menu to save the blueprint - even better. So when something goes wrong, it's easy to revert and edit it.
eelcobaas  [auteur] 12 jun 2020 om 10:11
@Krzeszny (Fox); If I understand you correctly such is kinda possible. (without slope tool)
You can make a slope by creating a rather wide river with a depth of 0.

*If your start- and end-node are at a desired height (by manipulating the terrain)
*Select LerpHeight; all nodes will now gradually descent
(some may float, some may be underground; don't worry, it's part of the plan)
*Select Carve; you should now have a smooth curved slope for your river.

Branches would be awesome but my skills aren't. I've tried but settled with this :steamsad:
Krzeszny 12 jun 2020 om 8:49
I just wish this mod could be combined with the function of the slope tool. That way, we could select target height and the river would smoothly descend to that height.
Krzeszny 11 jun 2020 om 13:31
What a great mod! This should be vanilla!
It would be perfect if it was possible to create branches.
nazibmd 5 jun 2020 om 5:47
This is what i've been waiting for al this while. Thank you for your great effort...may god bless you. Amin
eelcobaas  [auteur] 2 mei 2020 om 10:30
I had not used it for a while myself and your comment almost scared me.
But for me it appears to be working fine.
Konrad 28 apr 2020 om 10:33
Still works?
Chamëleon TBN 26 nov 2019 om 10:12
Thank you so much for the update. It works like charm ingame. I'am so happy!!!!:steamhappy:
NanoGrrl 1 nov 2019 om 15:37
Wow. I have to check this out. Looks like a way to actually start a smooth river in the map editor! After this carves the ditch, one has to place water sources, yes? River-making is still an art, but this may make it easier. Thanks!
Chamëleon TBN 1 nov 2019 om 12:33
I don't see you as an jerk - no way - for me it was a cool and funny prologue also :D And the mod will be a game-changer (at least if it will be available in game mode... otherwhise it will be an editor-changer) :steamhappy:
eelcobaas  [auteur] 1 nov 2019 om 9:09
Back to sanity. I changed the description.
Despite finding the situation kind of comical; I have no intent to be a jerk.
But I sometimes am :steamfacepalm:
Chamëleon TBN 30 okt 2019 om 17:21
I wait the wisdom fullfills the last sentence of the description - that's all I need to say right now
w_jkoopman 30 okt 2019 om 14:23
Personally, I like your description. A little fun does no harm. But if I were you, I would add a small more serious section where you actually explain a bit on how the mod works.
eelcobaas  [auteur] 30 okt 2019 om 12:16
@HamsterVolant. no.
@Chamëleon. Don't worry. I know what you meant; we are.

Maybe I am freaky, ridiculous or whatever.
This is how I make my life enjoyable.
Chamëleon TBN 30 okt 2019 om 11:11
@eelcobaas I mean more me (and maybe also Elektrix) with the attribute freaky - not you nor your mod :)
benzoll 30 okt 2019 om 10:31
Great tool to make rivers. :chirp: :hardhat:
In each yellow point, with shift key the depth and width appear, it is changed by moving mouse. It's great to be able to change width and depth.
HamsterVolant 30 okt 2019 om 10:20
Guy, you may consider yourself funny, intelligent, or whatever.
But you're just making yourself ridiculous.
Write a good, correct description of your stuff.
Mæthos 30 okt 2019 om 9:45
What would life be without quirks :P
eelcobaas  [auteur] 30 okt 2019 om 9:37
@Elektrix,Chamëleon & future suggesters.

I took some time to think about it and the answer is 'no'.

I might be wrong but I think the provided images should be enough to get an idea what to expect.
A better description would be more practical but this is more fun; at least for me.
If subscribers-to-be would crave to carve and search for its functionality; ultimately they will find it and learn how to use it.
(It is not complicated nor freaky)

Kind regards.
Chamëleon TBN 30 okt 2019 om 1:24
Funny prologue - but I agree with Elektrix - make it a little bit more clear for people that are not so freaky as we are :steamhappy:
Gabrielium 29 okt 2019 om 20:21
Please make a better description. The current one is unclear and does not really describe the actual function of the mod. You may get more subscribers if you explain what this actually does. In fact, I don't even know if I want to install it to test out what it does...
