beyond the obvious "setting up darkwraith and flagellant to be gods on a torchless run", she is my favorite support to add to a slower tempo team.
Apostate with incite is the absolute best friend of slower characters that needs setup, or snowball characters. like the Thorn, the Anointed, the Fawn, the Duellist, any and every mark character, or the Matriarch.
The Apostate is very good. absolute queen of torchless runs, uncontested goddess of tempo. i love her.
I love those little details, 10/10 class
Ive instulled improved launcher for mods with + to memory and to trinkets. And it worked. But still problem with full white squares 5 and 6 skins for apostate left.
Any ideas?
Ok, thanks for answer.
Not sure what happened or how. But 5 and 6 skin of the hero is just broken full white sprites.
If you have any questions, please let me know, I genuinely love this class on its functions and she is fun to play so far, though finding a suitable composition that isn't related to blight is tricky for me, I am trying. The art direction could be better, but not everyone can afford new artwork for mods especially if it is something made for fun.
* Apostate x3, Flagellant: Put a Quickdraw trinket(+8 spd +12 crit on first round) on your position 2 Apostate and have the other two cast Incite. Add any +dmg you can manage with quirks, etc and prepare to smile as you annihilate whole groups in the first round, though watch out for x2 size enemies.
* Succubus, Apostate, Keeper, Prefect: This might be even more broken - Prefect uses Power Play to Mark all enemies, Succubus uses her debuff that guarantees stun against Marked, Apostate hits Keeper with Insight, Keeper hits party with Cacophony twice for granted cents against stuns. Sooooo satisfying!
I saw the overview done by E5 on YouTube and had to try it out.
When The Apostate along with rare trinkets are grouped with The Veiled,Ashen Warrior and Darkwraith,it allow these class mods to keep their low health or deaths door buffs for longer will little risk. The Ringmaster and Wanderer benefit from the Apostate's company as well.
Desecrate setup stuns for them Bloodborne class mods to visceral attack the hell out of and
traps that randomly strips heath are actually a blessing with the Apostate around so that phrase "Watch your step" can be taken lightly but hearing it is still annoying.
Went from stress healer in rank 4 to building teams around one combat skill.
How Red hook go top all these mods you guys put out with DD2 is beyond me.
...she can't heal lol.
That aside, this comes down to a question of the audience we're balancing for. Experienced players will understand that, as you said, burst and frontloading damage is extremely effective. Novice players don't understand this yet. They may even finish the game (on bloodmoon!) without really grasping this. A lot of players believe vestals are essential; better players understand that vestals are optional; expert players understand that healers are optional.
So a hero that damages her own team, debuffs her own team, and discourages healing is scary to a lot of players. Really scary. The payoff for the low health and the debuffs needs to be strong enough that players are tempted to actually give it a go and not just dismiss her out of hand. In the hands of an expert player she's probably above the curve, but most players aren't experts.
If we disagree then so be it, you're the author after all.
Just looking at the debuffs other kinds of modded characters give in return for an extra turn (Snake Charmer debuffs -healing, -stresshealing, -damage, -all skill effects) the Apostate's Incite seems to be far less punishing. After all, Darkest Dungeon is mostly about burst and frontloading damage as much as possible in my opinion so "glass cannon" type of characters and abilities will always prevail, and the Apostate enables them perfectly with Incite because the damage dealing enemies will be dead before the only actual debuff that matters, the +damage received, ever comes into play. I did miss the the healing-disabled-debuff but then again I'd never cast Incite on a healer in the first place, especially when the Apostate can heal herself.
Incite also prevents the target hero from casting healing skills, reduces their healing received, and increases their damage taken. I appreciate your enthusiasm for providing feedback, but it doesn't carry much weight when you are evidently unfamiliar with the character.
Balance-wise and design-wise I'm happy with her. The risk/reward playstyle is not to everyone's tastes but that's fine - lots of people love the shenanigans that she enables.
I've read the mod authors answer about the Apostate being supposed to use "Incite" instead to give another character another action but I think that's a bit too strong to be a replacement for a normal attack. As far as I know the concept of giving another character an second action a turn is mod-only, there is no equivalent to that in the base game and I believe that this was a deliberate design choice because such an ability is very hard to balance. Other mod authors try to give both the caster and the recipient heavy debuffs in return (Snake Charmer for example) to make it slightly more balanced but I think the game's limitations prevent such a skill from every being properly balanced, and even then as far as I know all the Apostate does is deal damage to the recipient in return for giving them another action.
Can you add a trinket for her that significantly boosts her damage in exchange for reducing her debuff and pull chance to make condemn into an ordinary attack?
As she is, it seems like her sole purpose is to make the Umibozu fight in Sunward Isles easier.
The trinket limitation is unfortunate, but there's nothing that can be done without removing the summon altogether and I don't think that's any fun. It's simply impossible to do "on kill" summons in this game safely. If it helps, the only bossfights that I know to be probematic are the Flesh and the Baron (I wouldn't trust DD4 either), the others should be fine.
.... man if only i'm smart enough to mod for myself

It'll open a folder with number named folders, it's the {Mod_ID}. You can find mod ID by pushing "SHARE" button and copy the number at the very end of the link. So for Apostate it's : 1917819568
Where are mod's files downloaded so I can see them?
Theu are very interesting.
Apostate- *uses ability*
Second Apostate- "Excellent reading, sister!"
