blueflytrap will put your head on a pike if you talk about using rigs on this
ram 21 ENE 2024 a las 7:01
good
Musterduck 31 AGO 2023 a las 12:21
now this is a pudge chain moment
Flare 17 OCT 2021 a las 19:53
Since it seems that asking for a rig is a sin against god in this comment section, any workarounds for having one end of it hooked onto a model, and the other onto a static point, and then being able to move that model and the chain follows? Or Do I have to manually animate the thing?

toxic people in this comment section :beeped:
nudle 23 MAR 2021 a las 20:00
i did that

works well enough, was just an idea
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 22 MAR 2021 a las 19:08
All I heard is you don't know how to use the tools you're given since you don't even know what mode I'm talking about.

Go into sfm. Right click the rotation gizmo in the viewport. Change rotation model to local. Select every bone on the chain at once and spin it.
nudle 22 MAR 2021 a las 15:41
i never ever use world axis. with an IK rig arm you need to just move the hand where it needs to be and you're done posing, where as with an FK rig you need to pose all 4 parts of the arm (or 3 depending on clavicle), which can be time consuming. thats all
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 22 MAR 2021 a las 10:31
You weren't thinking. Why make an ik rig (which wouldn't work with a bone chain this long anyway) when you can right click the rotation manipulator and change it from world to local? You know, the rotation mode that every single animation program ever has. The one that lets you bend all selected bits at once. That one. The one for mass bending stuff.
nudle 22 MAR 2021 a las 10:10
i was just thinking an IK rig that makes it behave like a 32 boned arm depending on where you grab the chain. can you imagine posing this thing 32 times to animate it or just make it like a big arm with a few elbow control points instead
AnomNom 20 OCT 2020 a las 10:10
Because that's a fair thing to ask? I imagine it'd be like the Line Tool in Paint(dot)net. Two end points, and two central points, with the line curving to meet all of the points in a visually appealing way.
Handunit 3 JUL 2020 a las 17:49
@windex why the hell would there be a rig >:C
Kampsie 28 ENE 2020 a las 15:53

Delta Aether 21 NOV 2017 a las 8:15
thank goodness for this
Jelli 22 JUL 2017 a las 10:20
Really sorry, not a nitpicker, but it's "posable" or that the original chains are unposable... not that it's that big a problem, I'm the idiot for trying to Google it and load the movie's models... I'm just saying cuz I know there are a few more idiots like me out there who'd want this.
Carbon 2 MAY 2017 a las 10:54
Anyone hear chains moving?
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 9 DIC 2016 a las 23:40
@Dicoguy
No
Dicoguy 9 DIC 2016 a las 23:40
can you paint it?
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 22 JUL 2016 a las 14:26
@Invisible Fan
Generally something with a very modular use is seen in a better light than something unusually specific like the gargoyle.
Papa Daviici 19 JUL 2016 a las 9:36
How the hell does this have more ratings than the Bell Gargoyle model?
What is wrong with the world!
GrooveTorped 17 OCT 2015 a las 15:01
Oh man, if these only existed in Gmod...

Man I'd KILL for a posable rope model
Boorun 6 SEP 2014 a las 13:36
Awesome, thanks. Would you prefer I credit you?
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 6 SEP 2014 a las 13:24
@Baron Go nuts. It's a modification of valve's model so I can't deny you anyway.
Boorun 6 SEP 2014 a las 12:29
Hi, I was wondering if you'd allow me to use this model in a Saxxy entry.
BarbarianKanibal 11 JUN 2014 a las 5:01
Hi thanks the awesome chain! Just what I needed^^ I used it here:

Youhadabadday 27 ABR 2014 a las 9:22
can the chain wrap around a human models arms/legs?
HQDefault 14 FEB 2014 a las 7:40
This is one of those things where you have no use for it, but you download just in case
Ange1ofD4rkness 11 ENE 2014 a las 14:49
Hmm I could find use for this
Destructor 7 ENE 2014 a las 18:41
Is there an easy way to manipulate the whole chain or do you have to move every segment separately?
Void 2 DIC 2013 a las 23:03
hmm, intresting, can i use this for Tidehunter naval mine chain ?
psi onix 22 NOV 2013 a las 17:21
Yeah you're probably right. It's just that my ability to manipulate particles exceeds my knowledge of working with VMT's. I guess if you're actually up for it, the goal would be for it to look similar to this:
http://youtu.be/HkCQDMf3_S0?t=48s
though i'd have to find a separate model for the Mace end of it
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 22 NOV 2013 a las 16:31
@Psi particles seem like a pretty ineffective way to do it.

You would want something like a phong based fresnelwarp.
psi onix 22 NOV 2013 a las 16:08
No, i mean, it's too late now.. i finshed up the movie without it. What i was going to do though was Zach Scott's method of applying a particle effect to a model to make the chain glow like you'd expect an energon chain would. Might make use of this for a future Transformers project. :B1:
BlueFlytrap  [autor] 22 NOV 2013 a las 15:53
@Psi Do you need another version with any specific form of shading effect?
psi onix 22 NOV 2013 a las 15:39
oh good god, i so could have used this on my last project. I really wanted to give Megatron an energon Chain & Mace weapon.
Ultimo 22 NOV 2013 a las 9:35
Thanks
DrWalrus 20 NOV 2013 a las 18:12
Thanks so much just what i needed ;)
Stentor 20 NOV 2013 a las 9:01
Nice job with new size, now I'm using it on SFM posters too ^^
