Its CoM is indeed quite far back because of the heavy engines on the rear and relatively light frontal section. Its relative position is actually pretty similar to that of the SR-71. If the CoM were to be shifted forward, I think it would look very different, more like a skylon.

center of mass seems to be a bit too far back for my taste.
