just make sure you either have a way to get them out quickly or stabilize them (or that your specialist wasn't the one bleeding out their restoration ability is honestly pretty broken) it's still better to negate the mind control through mind shield obviously but this will make it much less annoying early game

@jat11241976 not really but [WotC] Mind Controlled Soldiers Bleed Out will make it so they don't die when receiving lethal damage

Stupid question, but is there a similar mod for your own troops to not kill their own mind controlled teammate? I was testing on Gatecrasher, and a sectoid mind controlled one of my troops. He took an overwatch shot, threw a grenade that injured 1, killed another right away (from a fall), exposed another to a killing flank shot due to cover being destroyed. The surviovor killed her with return fire (RPGO). Hilarious, yes. Glad i caught it while testing though

Militia can no longer get Headshots against the Lost with this. To fix it you need to add DPTT_MilitiaStandardShot to valid Headshot abilities in XComGameData_SoldierSkills.ini :

[XComGame.X2Effect_TheLostHeadshot]
+ValidHeadshotAbilities=DPTT_MilitiaStandardShot

Thank you for this mod. These morons just killed 3 of my mind controlled soldiers before I could do anything. I hope that this stupid situation won't happen again.

Thanks!

Is there a way to have this mod also affect targets with Kinetic Plating? Having the Warlock show up and get free health by Resistance fighters missing 8% potshots at him was the opposite of fun.
Haywire 2 mrt 2021 om 21:14
No worries. lol.
KimKast  [auteur] 2 mrt 2021 om 20:16
@Haywire Because I touched only vanilla militia rifles, and didn't other mod's contents. I described that it will not affect militia that have other weapons in description.

@KimKast
Will there eventually be support for things like allied raiding parties or will it just be militia? I just had a skirmisher "allied" group:
1. Throw a grenade at two spectral zombies (and my psi soldier)
2. Shoot the zombie that was set to rupture, thus exploding near 4 of my troops
3. Shoot the VIP (which I really needed alive for the intel)
4. Shoot and kill my psi soldier that got mind controlled by the Warlock.

All that in one mission. I can laugh now but... ugh.

literally looking for this because i just ragequit for this exact reason. well done. i thought i was going to have to settle for a "mind-controlled always bleed out" mod. but this fixed all of the problems :)

Thank you. I've had to deal with both circumstances and the aftermaths.

@Deadput Welcome XD

Not sure about any time soon but if you were alright with it would it be fine if I incorporated a version of this into my Militia Overhaul mod? Credit would be given of course.

Fantastic!

Personally I think the new retaliation mission type is too easy anyways I removed it from the INI file entirely but if I was still using them I would like this because the warlock was a big reason for my dislike of the mission type.
Flashstriker 2 mrt 2020 om 23:35
I agree with cryomancer, you are truly a hero. It's a shame it doesn't work with any Militia Overhauls but I might just use this anyway
saximaphone 2 mrt 2020 om 12:52
Finally my allies can stop being boosted monkeys.
Thank you for this.

Not all heroes wear capes, some make mods.
