Be careful not to run both mods at the same time though, or you might get a double defence bonus.

They both take effect. I did make a mod after this one which overhauls the Ballistic Shields too, which may be of interest: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2310533632

when used with Ballistic Shields- does using Shieldwall with a shield still incur the -20 penalty to defense, or does the "full cover" effect take precedence?

Shield Rework will disable Shield Defence's changes to Ballistic Shields, as it includes its own. It should work automatically.

Nevermind. There is a compatibility folder in your Rework mod specifically for this. However I don't know if it will automatically do it or do I have to cut-paste something?

Will this work with [WotC] Shield Rework? That mod also provides permanent low cover to units equipped with a shield.
Lago  [author] 10 Jul, 2020 @ 10:59am
It does.

my unit doesnt show low cover when theyre out in the open? does the effect still apply?

Thanks for the clarification Lago, appreciate it, and thank you for the mod.

I suspect if you used them together the soldier would gain this mod's fake high cover effect when they activate the shielding ability, then lose it if they move.
If you're using Powered Armour Rebalance and just want this for Ballistic Shields, I'd recommend removing HighCoverGenerator (the WAR suit ability Powered Armour Rebalance edits) from this mod's config file.

Liking the idea of the mod, was wondering how it'll interact with Powered Armor Rebalance by Udaya. Their mod adds extra shielding when using Shieldwall with a 3-turn cooldown. I'm assuming it'll be fine since they don't mess with the same things, but doesn't hurt to get clarification.

@Lago - Thanks for confirming.
Lago  [author] 19 Apr, 2020 @ 10:00am
It doesn't interact with Low Profile.

Out of interest, how would the low cover effect work with perks that turn 'low' into 'high'? If it does, does it also work if the unit was flanked?
Lago  [author] 29 Mar, 2020 @ 8:03am
As far as the game's concerned, they're flanked. They just get defensive bonuses that cancel out the penalties of being flanked.

@Lago
I've been using Agoraphobia (here on the workshop) which causes a chance for soldiers to panic when flanked or just out in the open. From the description it sounds like this would prevent my shieldos from panicking when out of cover (which is where they need to be if I want them soaking damage). Has anyone tested this with Agoraphobia yet? I assume it should work fine, but I don't have time to test today.

If you change the cover bonuses, this mod will change with them.
Arkhangel 18 Mar, 2020 @ 1:09pm
Well, technically they both did, but Claus made the models XD
Arkhangel 18 Mar, 2020 @ 1:08pm
uh..... Claus did Ballistic shields.
MrMister 18 Mar, 2020 @ 12:38pm
And the low cover effect given to shields - is it on top of the ablative health the shields give, or have you removed it? I think having all three bonuses (ablative, cover and shieldbash) is excessive.
MrMister 18 Mar, 2020 @ 12:36pm
Does the cover-equivalent defense bonus in either case change when using a mod that changes cover bonuses ?
