Gases with Masses

Looking for a gas-with-mass mod that's current (as of January 2023), features realistic mass, has an NPC toggle, works with modded tanks, and doesn't break all tank inventory? Try " Heavy Gas "
Dav Starr 27.11.2021 klo 5.17
Would be nice if this mod had different mass for hydrogen and oxygen ! Oxygen liquid should be about 1235 kg/m3 and hydorgen liquid 71 kg/m3. Anyway, do you have any recommended companion mod, to rebalance the hydrogen tank capacity with this one ?
Ren 12.10.2021 klo 6.30
Any way to make it so this doesn't turn NPC ships into falling anvils?
1antonioorlo1 3.9.2021 klo 5.16
My ship without mode: 2035312
With correct masses: 14647289
With Masses: 42574884 O_o

So should this mod now be renamed "Gasses With Hardcore Masses", or all here OK?
shumbalion 10.8.2021 klo 9.12
There is no error in this mod??
Did you miss read it?

Look at the pictures provided previously

117,385 kg empty ship
+10,000 kg Ice
=
127,585 kg approx. combined weight

Note that it is 200kg over with ice, so there is already errors in this 'test'.

Now with gas
204,624L of hydrogen at 1kg per 10L thus we have..
20,462 kg of gas

117,385 kg empty ship
+20,462 kg gas
=
137,847 kg

The picture says 138,048 kg again that’s the SAME 200kg difference.
So we can easily conclude there is NO error in the maths here.
The 200kg, that is nothing on this scale, could just be player weight changes lol

Someone please prove that this bug exists. :D

Anyone have a link for Gases with Correct Masses?
Falcon_Flyin_High 15.5.2021 klo 2.28
I can't find "Gases with Correct Masses". Does H2 have mass without this mod now? I am all for realism and would like to try this mod.
Romulous 6.5.2021 klo 6.24
This mod should be deprecated. The weights are no longer correct. Use "Gases with Correct Masses" instead.
Kitt3ns 14.4.2021 klo 4.28
Looking forward to trying this out!
dhalloran 18.1.2021 klo 18.58
I'm not sure if I've done the math wrong, but it seems like it would take 15 large grid small H2 thrusters, or 2 large H2 thrusters, to lift a single, full large grid large H2 tank in 1g. Isn't that a bit extreme? The large rocket engine is the same size as the tank and can't lift it? I can't imagine a real rocket engihe that cannot lift a fuel tank the same size as it is. Most can lift tanks many, many times their size.

Have I done the math wrong or does this basically make it impossible for hydrogen rockets to get from earth to space? Or do you ridiculously affix a large grid large h2 engine to a large grid small h2 tank which is 1/9th its size? :D THe most "basic", "realistic" rocket you could think of (a large h2 thruster with a couple of large tanks above it forming a nice, rocket shaped rocket) would be crush itself before even taking off, haha.

Looks like with the scrap race patch when keen rebalanced hydrogen stuff; liquid h2 now weighs more than ice because of the new conversion rates

Could this be updated to reflect?
Hage Maoh 8.9.2020 klo 19.29
Can you make a version that only adds mass to hydrogen?
Twiz 6.7.2020 klo 12.37
This totally broke my game as I can't fill my H2 bottles now cause I don't have any Ice at the moment and can't go get any cause I can't fill my H2 bottles. Is there any way to revert the changes this makes after removing it cause....shit man. You should put a big warning at the top of the page saying "You will not be able to re-fill bottles using tanks anymore" cause this also messes with Isy's Inventory Manager due to that as it'll constantly try to put bottles in there and kicks out errors non-stop when it can't.
George 2.6.2020 klo 6.32
ahhh yes! Exactly what I was looking for :D
I always thought it was super strange that gasses had no mass / weight. Going for some realism, hoping this will work! Gonna try it! :)
SparrowPriest 20.5.2020 klo 10.16
personally i think all tanks shouldn't have cargo slots. they're gas tanks.. if we're trying to create a little bit of realism by having weight to gasses in-game then they should also not have any cargo because in the real world you can't put things inside gas tanks
Nivlak The Pyro 14.4.2020 klo 16.32
Oh yeah; well I hope it works out for ya!
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 14.4.2020 klo 15.01
@NightLone No I can easily reproduce the crash and get the log that way. Unfortunately the error isn't very straightforward... I will probably ask some more veteran modders on the keen swh discord.
Nivlak The Pyro 14.4.2020 klo 14.26
@comfyfutons Would it help if I provide a log of the crash? if so let me know!
PMBELL 13.4.2020 klo 14.56
You have a good point.
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 13.4.2020 klo 14.34
@PMBELL Well one reason I can think of is that a hydrogen tank can power as many thrusters as you want while you would need a lot of H2/O2 generators to keep up with thrusters.

Seconly, I'm not sure you can really use real life values to create realism in space engineers because there are hundreds of other interacting systems that aren't based of real life but for argument's sake if you want to talk about molecular weights of liquid hydrogen and the 89% oxygen by mass of H2O then my argument back would be that you need that oxygen as an oxidizer in order to burn the hydrogen and since space engineers ignores oxidizers so let's assume the hydrogen tank contains the hydrogen and the liquid oxygen oxidizer.
PMBELL 13.4.2020 klo 11.35
Hi. I see a game balance issue. If the gasses are the same weight than the ice used to produce it then what is the advantage of producing them in advance and storing them in tanks? A ship will have more possibilities storing ice in a cargo container and have an O2/H2 generator.

Also given the following reaction:
H2O -> 1 * H2 + 1/2 * O2
Molecular weights: H20 = 18, H2 = 2, O2 = 32

The stoichiometric mass ratios are:
1 Kg H2O -> 0.11 Kg H2 + 0.89 Kg O2

So I suggest using those values.:steamhappy:
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 11.4.2020 klo 17.19
@NightLone thanks i'll look into it
Nivlak The Pyro 11.4.2020 klo 17.04
Little bug: when refilling a hydrogen bottle in the large grid tanks, taking out the bottle will crash the game.
I love the mod btw :) But I can't really play with it if it keeps crashing my game :P
SOBEK 9.4.2020 klo 2.08
Hi@comfyfutons for now time all work perfect :) Thanks :) If some will go bad wy by in touch.
SOBEK 8.4.2020 klo 22.26
Thanks for info :) I test it after back to home.
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 8.4.2020 klo 15.28
@julekBombon I have updated the mod so that grids not owned by players do not have added mass. Let me know if you have any further issues.
SOBEK 8.4.2020 klo 13.00
Idea of mod is wery good and realistic but that one thing :) This look good but dont work good with all things not designed for work with bigger mass than vanilla :) This issue can by repair with stronger thrusters mods but going this way what will by point of bigger mass. Thanks for info. Good luck :)
SOBEK 8.4.2020 klo 12.49
Ships with big tanks of hydrogen have too much weight and after spawn all going down :) Yes , ships from Npc mods like MES :) All have vanilla tanks , so all have much biggger mass with mod added so cant fly with that weight :) All ships must by rebuild for your mod, or you can change code of usage to add mass only to blocks what player build, not to all blocks in world. That end fall issue :) Outer way mod cant by used with npc spawner mods, or ships with hydrogen tanks on board not builded with your mod added :) Can by used but all must by rebuild for safety fly with bigger mass with tanks full of fuel. Have many Npc mods , so that issue break immersion in point when all big npc hydrogen ships fall down after spawn.
jump521 8.4.2020 klo 12.42
If i may suggest something, i'd add a block that is ignored by the mod that can't be built by players so that the cargo ships still work, but players still need to engineer around it. Lucas would probably have no problem helping you implement it into the spawner, he seems like a chill guy.
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 8.4.2020 klo 12.24
@julekBombon I'm not super familiar with cargo ships does base game have atmospheric cargo ships or are the ships you are talking about spawned through a mod like modular encounters spawner?

I will have to think about what the best solution for that problem is... may take a bit but I would like to watch what happens so if you could give me more information that would be great.
SOBEK 8.4.2020 klo 10.30
Hi. Mod affect Npc ships too, all fall down after spawn. So can you do mod only affect player structures , not all tanks ingame ?
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 8.4.2020 klo 8.26
@jump521 it modifies the behavior of gas tank type blocks so I would guess that it is compatible with any mod that adds a block that can hold hydrogen or oxygen however I have not tested compatibility with any mods specifically.
jump521 8.4.2020 klo 1.36
Cool! This makes SE just a bit more realistic. Multi stage rockets finally make sense now. Question: Does this mod support modded tanks? Or is it just vanilla.
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 7.4.2020 klo 14.03
@monius2030 Should be fixed now
comfyfutons  [tekijä] 7.4.2020 klo 12.56
@monius thank you I will look into it
monius2030 7.4.2020 klo 12.01
Hi. Thanks for the mod. The idea that tank's mass stays the same no matter what's inside is ridiculous and unbalanced, so I'm surprised the mod isn't more popular. I believe I've noticed a bug, though: the inventory screen says the volume of the tank is zero, and, as a result, the tanks cannot accept the bottles.
