Thanks for the answer!
You are doing an excellent job, don 't let people get into your head, this is internet, this is what people do lol
Keep un the great work
Zyxpsilon  [author] 5 Jun @ 4:11am
Choosing colors isn't possible.
Only the original classes/icons (for Vanilla + WoTC/Partial + LW2) have been "customized" .
RPGO isn't supported.
Thanks about LAByrinth -- that mod was a *huge* task and a very complex development for precise details and gameplay help.

(Refer to my comments from March 2nd/24 below)
Wrath 4 Jun @ 6:37pm
Does this mod allow you to choose a color for your soldiers classes ? Is it just intended for the original ones or does it work for any class ? (like RPGO)
Great work all around I love LAByrinth UI
Zyxpsilon  [author] 27 May, 2024 @ 4:19am
Some Mods can always interfere with mine and each other.
LW2 + LWOTC in particular *still* has a *LOT* of conflicts.
Community Highlander would also wreck access to older Mods and various other flawed codes like UC-scripts, INI, UPK files ... ETC!

One solution; Use *Alternative Mod Launcher* (1.4+) to boot XCom2 which can detect and analyze plenty of flaws of conflicting mods.

AFAIC, this mod still works just fine even with 140+ active mods on my PC.

Good luck, nonetheless.
Трикстер 26 May, 2024 @ 6:34pm
Здравствуйте, вы не подскажите, почему могут не работать иконки заданий? С чем потенциально может конфликтовать этот мод? За ранее большое спасибо.

Hello, can you tell me why the task icons may not work? What could this mod potentially conflict with? Thank you very much in advance.
MrMister 2 Mar, 2024 @ 4:47am
Allright, I accept that, so I think I'm gonna take up your offer of getting inspired by this and make my own icons!

Don't worry, I won't use any of your assets in the process of creating my own icons, only vanilla assets. I admit right away that some will definitely try to portray very similar things because, well, they will be symbolizing the same thing, but I'll be making them from scratch, taking only the inspiration you offered, not assets.

And of course I won't use your code either - in fact, I don't need to do any code just to implement my own set of icons.

Thanks!
Zyxpsilon  [author] 2 Mar, 2024 @ 4:21am
Now - to clarify *why* i react like this...

A) somebody else ***broke*** one major mod of mine (LAByrinth & WC version) recently to offer custom functionality in a similar process.

B) that person even ruined by modding "reputation" online in numerous ways while claiming my coding was junk.

C) Thus.. I stopped creating stuff for XCom (and also no longer play that wonderful OFFICIAL game) since some copy/cat projects are stealing "ideas/concepts" from other modders from the initial release by Firaxis.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 2 Mar, 2024 @ 4:21am
1) This mod doesn't support LWOTC and has purposely adapted local UC code(s) to validate access to LW2 principles *only*.

2) None of its features are available for ANY external attempts by anyone for **XC2/Workshop distribution**. That's plagiarization of a personal code/format compiled by **ME**.

3) Do as you please and have some fun with whatever attempt at anything partial from my creative "product".

4) Refer to my mod for inspiration if you want and please note about its authentic components/assets.

MrMister 1 Mar, 2024 @ 2:24pm
(continued)

The biggest challange will be seeing if I can make (or nudge someone else to make) icons for the new missions added by WOTC, though the only ones used by LWOTC right now are the crate-marking one and the rescue from compound. Hey, if you'd accept doing them yourself that'd be keep all artistic integrity of the mod and be super apprecieated! If not, I'll try.

If you don't accept, hey, it's okay, it's your mod and your assets. I'll just put my updates into a private mod and only share it with friends, always under instructions never to publish it or share it directly to communities.

And again, if you want I could just give you the updated files and you can publish it as a mod yourself - thanks to Another Mod Uploader, you don't even need to have the xcom2 sdk installed to publish a mod.

Hope you're having a nice day, and thanks for the mod!
MrMister 1 Mar, 2024 @ 2:24pm
(whoops, sorry, posted this in the old non-WOTC mod's page, lemme repost:)

Hey Zyx, I did get it working to show only the icons and thumnails - thanks helping me figure it out!

However, some of the config is outdated with recent LWOTC 1.1 changes. As you have stated you do not wish to release (and cannot release) an updated standalone version of just the Mission Icons, would you please give me permission to attempt to do so, using your geoscape mission type icons and thumnails?

If such a thing is possible you will obviously be given the main and biggest credit as the creator of the icons and original mod, with a link to this mod, before anyone else who assisted me. And I'd also label you as Contributor, which IIRC with recent Workshop changes would let you edit or shut down the mod yourself.

Again, I'd only need to use your mission icons nad thumbnails (and the same config to implement them, of course); I wouldn't be including any of your scripts.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 14 Feb, 2024 @ 4:55am
Then, it might be "qUIck_FIX2_UILibrary" for its MissionIcon_Advent of section 'SecureUFO_LW' settings. It's a "UFO" symbol as shown (bottom left of the while Q letter) on the splash image.

Other files like "GOPS3_Bradford64", "Head_Shen" and a bunch of "implants_***Z" are maintained there too.
MrMister 13 Feb, 2024 @ 5:14am
That and another .upk, can't remember which, that I assume contains the icons for vanilla mission types (without it the landed ufo mission icon was missing).
Zyxpsilon  [author] 13 Feb, 2024 @ 4:41am
'qUIck_LW2_UILibrary.upk' which hooks to "XComLW_Activities.ini" that declares each mission type (iconpath) lines in global settings.
MrMister 12 Feb, 2024 @ 6:02am
So on that point, do you know which of the .upks contain the custom mission type icons? I think whichever one it is is the only one that I'd need to keep.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 12 Feb, 2024 @ 4:52am
As i wrote earlier, any UPK files (from content folder) could be removed without direct impacts against UC scripting functionality. INI files are "declaration" components that simply control various data hooks transiting at runtine only for the 'swapping' calls at classes or UPK assets.
MrMister 11 Feb, 2024 @ 10:39am
Actually, deleting the whole localization and script folders, as well as XComClassData.ini and XComLW_Content.ini, works and accomplishes my goal of having only the custom mission type icons!

The only thing needed is XComLW_Activities.ini (and the trio of base .inis, of course), plus whichever .upk the icons are packaged in, though I haven't tried deleting them yet.

If you want, you could totally re-release this mod just with those and it'll work just fine.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 6 Jan, 2024 @ 8:51pm
(Continued...)

Class names are easier to "de-colorize".
In this folder; (..//Localization\LW2_TransferFiles\...) find the *XComGame.int* file and REM (;) the (DisplayName=...) lines (from #268 to 301) from the (;Class Names...) section.

All done!
Zyxpsilon  [author] 6 Jan, 2024 @ 6:00am
(Continued...)

PS; This editing might NOT work though since our mods are pre-compiled at release (May 2020 for that mod).

An alternate solution would be to pull out the "qUIck_LW2_UILibrary.upk" file from the content folder. Risky if not might alter access to other UPK files too.

Nonetheless Good Luck, anyone!
Zyxpsilon  [author] 6 Jan, 2024 @ 5:59am
Geeee - one month later, stuck in our Québec Winter stuff over here!

Sorry.. cannot edit or adapt this mod to recent LW2 versions anymore or "remove" any features.
Although, my coding and custom assets are STILL compatible with it and many others.

BUT -- For that workshop #2084912488 source code.

Someone (you?) might be able to edit *ONE* critical file in the src folder; (SwappImgWCLW2_UIScreenListener_Extension.uc)
... from "// LW2 Class Icons.." section to deactivate nearly anything at will.

Most lines (Helper.Path =....) can be REM'ed with (//) inserts before their symbols. Those corrections would simply interrupt initialization of their unique contexts of...
(img:///UILibrary_Common.class_/ + img:///qUIck_LW2_UILibrary.class_)

...
MrMister 6 Dec, 2023 @ 12:49am
Hey, would it be possible for you to release a version without the colored class icons/names? When using MJ+ it feels unfitting that only a few of the classes be colored.

The modnis sick tho yo, I love them mission icons.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 20 Feb, 2022 @ 5:27am
@zion6
Luckily for us Modders, Steam Workshop provides a cool visual way to summarise our Mods from the top right corner with a splasher file. I think that custom image offers good hints on the essential assets - which are also "searchable" directly within Workshop options, btw.
Enjoy.. indeed!
zion6 19 Feb, 2022 @ 8:30am
"Searchable" and "Discoverable" are the key points I was trying to make sorry
zion6 19 Feb, 2022 @ 8:27am
Yessir-I get it. I was more thinking of a general description that was easier to find is all. Like maybe something with the word "color" or "UI" or "icons" "WOTC" or "LWOTC" "Custom"etc. I love what you have done! The current title makes perfect sense after you know about it, but that's the conundrum-not knowing about it...

I simply am mentioning as a random average non artistic and not that smart dude looking for a Colored Soldier Class Icon mod, I stumbled really into this and it's so much more. It's just not really a searchable title unless you already know of your work.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying it, thanks for the work you put in.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 19 Feb, 2022 @ 6:49am
WC = War of the Chosen
qUIck = UI (User Interface) + quick;fast
LW2 = related to Long War

Fairly obvious.. for more details everyone should read the mod description section above.
zion6 17 Feb, 2022 @ 9:53pm
Thanks-one suggestion: change the name of the Mod so people could find it and use it.. I searched for something similar to this and have no idea how I found it. Was looking for something that changed the Class Icons and colored them. Seriously the title is so cryptic it is a shame that it is so hard to discover! Just a normal noob opinion.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 17 Feb, 2022 @ 8:14am
Not really except anyone can make indirect deductions within the game as global research is progressing.
zion6 16 Feb, 2022 @ 9:13am
Thanks-was there a place I should look to find that info without posting a question?
Zyxpsilon  [author] 16 Feb, 2022 @ 7:17am
@zion6

Colors represent research categories...

Blue = Research
Cyan = Breakthrough
Light Green = Autopsies
Orange = Engineering
Yellow = Proving Ground
Red = Weaponry
Magenta = Storyline Progress
Pink=Decryptions
zion6 15 Feb, 2022 @ 4:37pm
Playing LWOTC Steam release, really like it. Do the different colored numbers mean anything in particular like in Research etc? Like 01, 02 etc different colors
Zyxpsilon  [author] 10 Oct, 2021 @ 9:38am
In the meantime.. take a look at my "XComLW_Activities.INI" file and compare it with theirs.
The Icons & Images are declared under each +MissionSettings blocks with instructions that point to the necessary paths, either = img:///UILibrary_StrategyImages.X2StrategyMap... *OR* img:///qUIck_LW2_UILibrary...

Anyone could edit such sections by replacing (or adding) stuff (it's just two lines) around if they'd want to -- but only INTO *my* mod file & with valid item UPK names.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 10 Oct, 2021 @ 9:22am
Oh.. yes those are Missions types.

LWotC has altered such events and the function that defines some data.. they even created new ones that aren't included in this mod. So some of the defaults stay the same while a few of mine can still be detected and thus, show up accordingly.

Really nothing i can do until they officially release a **final** version without updating anything else.. no promise or time table on such tasks if i ever go back supporting it, sorry.
cryxalus 9 Oct, 2021 @ 11:40pm
@Zyxpsilon
And of course I play LWOTC
cryxalus 9 Oct, 2021 @ 11:39pm
It is the task icons, as in the 3rd and 4th screenshots of the mod, that appear and are absent in different playthroughs. The rest everything works. Rank colors, class colors, technology colors. Only on the global map there are no new icons when a task comes across. And it happens every other time.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 9 Oct, 2021 @ 9:10pm
@cryxalus
"..and in some passages the old ones remain"
Could you be more specific about this flaw?
I would probably be able to run a few test locally to investigate further & solve the issue.
cryxalus 9 Oct, 2021 @ 7:07pm
Hello everyone. It happens that the mod works in full force and sometimes in half. Classes are always painted, but on the global map the icons change to those given by the mod, and in some passages the old ones remain. What could be the problem? playing LWOTC
Mr.Strain 29 Sep, 2021 @ 5:17am
@topalin
Ok, this fixes the colored classnames for me.
Merci
Zyxpsilon  [author] 27 Sep, 2021 @ 11:31am
@topalin
Yup.. this is precisely what the "LoadOrder" flaws can screw-up. AML can adjust the proper tags, at times.. since the Steam auto-reset "Check Phase" can randomly push the previous status back in focus.
Soooooo.. you got lucky somehow -- but this silly issue can still come back to haunt us all.
topalin 27 Sep, 2021 @ 10:48am
UPDATE: To Zyxpsilon and to everyone potentially affected. I manaeged to fix this problem. It appears that the order of mods folder in AML matters. In AML --> Options --> Settings, you have to add mods folders in a proper order so that the local folder (the one with LWOTC and Highlanders) is first (top) and the steam workhop mods folder is second (bottom). I had them reversed. But the strange thing is that 99% of mods worked perfectly fine. Maybe only some of them were being blocked by LWOTC mod. In particular this one and Mechatronic Warfare (I had all of its features working properly, but the perk tree was not wrorking. Now it does!).
Zyxpsilon  [author] 22 Sep, 2021 @ 11:38am
Oh.. that very well be the cause since "LoadOrder" principles have knack for resilient Cache(s) that stick around. This process takes awhile to support common flow if various modded assets.
Sad but true.
Editing HTML instructions (Text string colours) into my modded XComGame.INT files is rather simple.

PS; Btw.. this is the kind of Firaxis neglect that "Community Highlander" (etc) are attempting to repair/fix.
Mr.Strain 22 Sep, 2021 @ 11:04am
@ Zyxpsilon
AML is installed and shows no errors or else.
I read your answers carefully again and see what i can do.
Nothing that really hurts my gameplay......
Thanks for the super quick response *thumbs up*.

Oh i remember now, as i write these lines, what i had done wrong. First i installed your older LW2 mods instead and wondered why it don't worked in the first place.......after that i recognized your new ones :)
Maybe that causes this.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 22 Sep, 2021 @ 8:32am
@MrStrain,

Refer to my previous two answers for direct explanation of some possible solutions.
I just can't help out unless you have the AML (launcher) installed since it can detect most conflicts or other issues.
Mr.Strain 22 Sep, 2021 @ 5:52am
Hi there.
First of all i really like your mods they are so great!
They help getting the overview at this large LW2/ LWOTC soldier roster which would otherwise be lost for me.
The only thing i noticed is the color of the Psionic rank-icons from Templars and Psionics. It looks to me that the first classes had slightly different color patterns.
Normal class:
Squaddie = yellow
Lance Corporal = green
Corporal = blue
Sergeant = orange

Psionics:
Initiate = green
Acolyte = yellow
Adept = orange
Disciple = blue

Maybe i am missing here something or there is a mod conflict because the names are not colored for me (but thats ok) or its intentional.

The question is can i change these colors for myself? And if so were could i edit this?

Thanks for your work, i love it!
Zyxpsilon  [author] 19 Aug, 2021 @ 8:18am
1) Everything should be ok. My mod was crafted at v14+ (and for Beta3). Updating would likely screw with minor features only.

2) LWoTC is mostly installed in some custom folders. It "replaces" various XC2 default files while hooking to their own Highlander.
The Class instructions are into a full length XComGame.INT. Mine simply add a few corrections to templates and the necessary lines/strings for HTML colors.
Example; Ranger should be around line #1586, etc.

3) Nope.. they are like smallish XCom Logos & colored distinctively per continents and regions also have differently arranged black shapes inside the bottom X.
topalin 18 Aug, 2021 @ 9:40am
@Zyxpsilon
Thanks for the prompt answer. Some more feedback:
1) I am still using LWOTC beta 3 from last year, I have not updated it yet (because I have an ongoing campaign).
2) I search all my files in the XCOM folder as well as in "My Games\XCOM folder for the string corresponding to your line 270 and nothing was found.
3) Noted about regions icons. However I would swear I saw them briefly yesterday (they looked like the Chosen's symbols/emblems).
Zyxpsilon  [author] 18 Aug, 2021 @ 8:04am
Unless LWOTC coders altered the Class re-naming conventions (#270+ LWS_xxx), those should be correctly updated by my INT file. There's always a risk of conflicts with other Mods too.. but i just can't control what users install and if something is flawed into the additional files.

Geoscape regions/Icons are provided by another Mod from me... WC_GeoscApps.
topalin 18 Aug, 2021 @ 12:24am
Well, after reinstalling this mod and/or after deleting the confing files it's better. Rank icons and class icons ARE colorful. However names of the classes are still vanilla color (I checked the file where from the line 270 these colors are set, and they ARE properly set, but do not work. Could they be overridden by something else? Also, on the geoscape missions icons (and custom squad logos) DO work, but I am misssing those special icons for regions.
topalin 17 Aug, 2021 @ 11:16am
Help. This mod used to work for me, but today, after installing some new mods from DerAVA’s list (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1892168508) , some parts of it stopped working. Names of classes and icons of classes and their ranks are vanilla color again. But some other parts DO work, like alternative mission icons on the geoscape. AML is not signaling and conflicts, I did not see it on the list of overrides either.
Zyxpsilon  [author] 24 Jul, 2020 @ 8:55am
No problem.. Enjoy!
Jorkie 23 Jul, 2020 @ 11:07am
OMG i have looked anywhere in the config files for those instalation notes you where talking abaut a few post before... sry my fault...
Zyxpsilon  [author] 23 Jul, 2020 @ 9:02am
As shown in the INSTALLATION section above.. that simply means you currently don't have the recommended WC_LAByrinth Mod which pulls them all from a dedicated UPK archive (( LABy_UILIbrary.UPK )). That file contains other important assets -- i had to keep everything related together for stability reasons & transferring such stuff around between these kind of files can cause much troubles.
