You are doing an excellent job, don 't let people get into your head, this is internet, this is what people do lol
Keep un the great work
Only the original classes/icons (for Vanilla + WoTC/Partial + LW2) have been "customized" .
RPGO isn't supported.
Thanks about LAByrinth -- that mod was a *huge* task and a very complex development for precise details and gameplay help.
(Refer to my comments from March 2nd/24 below)
Great work all around I love LAByrinth UI
LW2 + LWOTC in particular *still* has a *LOT* of conflicts.
Community Highlander would also wreck access to older Mods and various other flawed codes like UC-scripts, INI, UPK files ... ETC!
One solution; Use *Alternative Mod Launcher* (1.4+) to boot XCom2 which can detect and analyze plenty of flaws of conflicting mods.
AFAIC, this mod still works just fine even with 140+ active mods on my PC.
Good luck, nonetheless.
Hello, can you tell me why the task icons may not work? What could this mod potentially conflict with? Thank you very much in advance.
Don't worry, I won't use any of your assets in the process of creating my own icons, only vanilla assets. I admit right away that some will definitely try to portray very similar things because, well, they will be symbolizing the same thing, but I'll be making them from scratch, taking only the inspiration you offered, not assets.
And of course I won't use your code either - in fact, I don't need to do any code just to implement my own set of icons.
Thanks!
A) somebody else ***broke*** one major mod of mine (LAByrinth & WC version) recently to offer custom functionality in a similar process.
B) that person even ruined by modding "reputation" online in numerous ways while claiming my coding was junk.
C) Thus.. I stopped creating stuff for XCom (and also no longer play that wonderful OFFICIAL game) since some copy/cat projects are stealing "ideas/concepts" from other modders from the initial release by Firaxis.
2) None of its features are available for ANY external attempts by anyone for **XC2/Workshop distribution**. That's plagiarization of a personal code/format compiled by **ME**.
3) Do as you please and have some fun with whatever attempt at anything partial from my creative "product".
4) Refer to my mod for inspiration if you want and please note about its authentic components/assets.
(cont...)
The biggest challange will be seeing if I can make (or nudge someone else to make) icons for the new missions added by WOTC, though the only ones used by LWOTC right now are the crate-marking one and the rescue from compound. Hey, if you'd accept doing them yourself that'd be keep all artistic integrity of the mod and be super apprecieated! If not, I'll try.
If you don't accept, hey, it's okay, it's your mod and your assets. I'll just put my updates into a private mod and only share it with friends, always under instructions never to publish it or share it directly to communities.
And again, if you want I could just give you the updated files and you can publish it as a mod yourself - thanks to Another Mod Uploader, you don't even need to have the xcom2 sdk installed to publish a mod.
Hope you're having a nice day, and thanks for the mod!
Hey Zyx, I did get it working to show only the icons and thumnails - thanks helping me figure it out!
However, some of the config is outdated with recent LWOTC 1.1 changes. As you have stated you do not wish to release (and cannot release) an updated standalone version of just the Mission Icons, would you please give me permission to attempt to do so, using your geoscape mission type icons and thumnails?
If such a thing is possible you will obviously be given the main and biggest credit as the creator of the icons and original mod, with a link to this mod, before anyone else who assisted me. And I'd also label you as Contributor, which IIRC with recent Workshop changes would let you edit or shut down the mod yourself.
Again, I'd only need to use your mission icons nad thumbnails (and the same config to implement them, of course); I wouldn't be including any of your scripts.
Other files like "GOPS3_Bradford64", "Head_Shen" and a bunch of "implants_***Z" are maintained there too.
The only thing needed is XComLW_Activities.ini (and the trio of base .inis, of course), plus whichever .upk the icons are packaged in, though I haven't tried deleting them yet.
If you want, you could totally re-release this mod just with those and it'll work just fine.
Class names are easier to "de-colorize".
In this folder; (..//Localization\LW2_TransferFiles\...) find the *XComGame.int* file and REM (;) the (DisplayName=...) lines (from #268 to 301) from the (;Class Names...) section.
All done!
PS; This editing might NOT work though since our mods are pre-compiled at release (May 2020 for that mod).
An alternate solution would be to pull out the "qUIck_LW2_UILibrary.upk" file from the content folder. Risky if not might alter access to other UPK files too.
Nonetheless Good Luck, anyone!
Sorry.. cannot edit or adapt this mod to recent LW2 versions anymore or "remove" any features.
Although, my coding and custom assets are STILL compatible with it and many others.
BUT -- For that workshop #2084912488 source code.
Someone (you?) might be able to edit *ONE* critical file in the src folder; (SwappImgWCLW2_UIScreenListener_Extension.uc)
... from "// LW2 Class Icons.." section to deactivate nearly anything at will.
Most lines (Helper.Path =....) can be REM'ed with (//) inserts before their symbols. Those corrections would simply interrupt initialization of their unique contexts of...
(img:///UILibrary_Common.class_/ + img:///qUIck_LW2_UILibrary.class_)
...
The modnis sick tho yo, I love them mission icons.
Luckily for us Modders, Steam Workshop provides a cool visual way to summarise our Mods from the top right corner with a splasher file. I think that custom image offers good hints on the essential assets - which are also "searchable" directly within Workshop options, btw.
Enjoy.. indeed!
I simply am mentioning as a random average non artistic and not that smart dude looking for a Colored Soldier Class Icon mod, I stumbled really into this and it's so much more. It's just not really a searchable title unless you already know of your work.
Anyway, I'm really enjoying it, thanks for the work you put in.
qUIck = UI (User Interface) + quick;fast
LW2 = related to Long War
Fairly obvious.. for more details everyone should read the mod description section above.
Colors represent research categories...
Blue = Research
Cyan = Breakthrough
Light Green = Autopsies
Orange = Engineering
Yellow = Proving Ground
Red = Weaponry
Magenta = Storyline Progress
Pink=Decryptions
The Icons & Images are declared under each +MissionSettings blocks with instructions that point to the necessary paths, either = img:///UILibrary_StrategyImages.X2StrategyMap... *OR* img:///qUIck_LW2_UILibrary...
Anyone could edit such sections by replacing (or adding) stuff (it's just two lines) around if they'd want to -- but only INTO *my* mod file & with valid item UPK names.
LWotC has altered such events and the function that defines some data.. they even created new ones that aren't included in this mod. So some of the defaults stay the same while a few of mine can still be detected and thus, show up accordingly.
Really nothing i can do until they officially release a **final** version without updating anything else.. no promise or time table on such tasks if i ever go back supporting it, sorry.
And of course I play LWOTC
"..and in some passages the old ones remain"
Could you be more specific about this flaw?
I would probably be able to run a few test locally to investigate further & solve the issue.
Ok, this fixes the colored classnames for me.
Merci
Yup.. this is precisely what the "LoadOrder" flaws can screw-up. AML can adjust the proper tags, at times.. since the Steam auto-reset "Check Phase" can randomly push the previous status back in focus.
Soooooo.. you got lucky somehow -- but this silly issue can still come back to haunt us all.
Sad but true.
Editing HTML instructions (Text string colours) into my modded XComGame.INT files is rather simple.
PS; Btw.. this is the kind of Firaxis neglect that "Community Highlander" (etc) are attempting to repair/fix.
AML is installed and shows no errors or else.
I read your answers carefully again and see what i can do.
Nothing that really hurts my gameplay......
Thanks for the super quick response *thumbs up*.
Oh i remember now, as i write these lines, what i had done wrong. First i installed your older LW2 mods instead and wondered why it don't worked in the first place.......after that i recognized your new ones :)
Maybe that causes this.
Refer to my previous two answers for direct explanation of some possible solutions.
I just can't help out unless you have the AML (launcher) installed since it can detect most conflicts or other issues.
First of all i really like your mods they are so great!
They help getting the overview at this large LW2/ LWOTC soldier roster which would otherwise be lost for me.
The only thing i noticed is the color of the Psionic rank-icons from Templars and Psionics. It looks to me that the first classes had slightly different color patterns.
Normal class:
Squaddie = yellow
Lance Corporal = green
Corporal = blue
Sergeant = orange
Psionics:
Initiate = green
Acolyte = yellow
Adept = orange
Disciple = blue
Maybe i am missing here something or there is a mod conflict because the names are not colored for me (but thats ok) or its intentional.
The question is can i change these colors for myself? And if so were could i edit this?
Thanks for your work, i love it!
2) LWoTC is mostly installed in some custom folders. It "replaces" various XC2 default files while hooking to their own Highlander.
The Class instructions are into a full length XComGame.INT. Mine simply add a few corrections to templates and the necessary lines/strings for HTML colors.
Example; Ranger should be around line #1586, etc.
3) Nope.. they are like smallish XCom Logos & colored distinctively per continents and regions also have differently arranged black shapes inside the bottom X.
Thanks for the prompt answer. Some more feedback:
1) I am still using LWOTC beta 3 from last year, I have not updated it yet (because I have an ongoing campaign).
2) I search all my files in the XCOM folder as well as in "My Games\XCOM folder for the string corresponding to your line 270 and nothing was found.
3) Noted about regions icons. However I would swear I saw them briefly yesterday (they looked like the Chosen's symbols/emblems).
Geoscape regions/Icons are provided by another Mod from me... WC_GeoscApps.
