What if earlier hevs were just mechs? There is no mention of the word suit in HEV so....
Also i think it may be more plausiible than making a compact suit, especially for like Mk 2 or 1

Out of all the HEV moedls I've seen, this one looks the most like it was designed as a combat armor primarily. Speaking of, I'm kind of surprised I havent seen HEV models with modifications for combat, such as ammo packs/vest/bandoliers etc. feels like something someone should have made by now.
