Any chance you will be porting this to warhammer 3? This is by far the best formation saving mod.

Is there a way to add it to remember which units where set to guard, fire at will and skirmish?

Absolutely love this mod. I always wanted something like this but could not even begin to wrap my head around how to design a UI for it. merc. not only came up with an excellent way to implement it but also turned it into reality. Great job!

Thanks, and you are most welcome :)

Bloody hell, so happy I happened to search formations in the steam workshop. This is simply brilliant!

Thanks. I had similar experience with repetitive battle setups. I am glad this mode eases it for you as it did for me :)

How is this not part of the game yet? I simply do not understand.
I always tend to use AUTO-Resolve Sooo much. Like 90% of the time. Simply because I find it so tedious to get a battle set up. Specially when you`re doing it for the 20th time.

To have my special playstyle setup in 1 press of a button is just such a quality of life improvement.

I fell in love with real-time-combat again which is really what defines this game/genre.
Seeing your units clash swords on the field is literally half the fun. And I get to experience it a lot more now thanks to this.

You sure have my gratitude.

Thank you for this mod :winter2019joyfultearsbulb:

Sorry to hear that. Do you mind moving this discussion to the bug reports pinned thread? I will post some questions there and hopefully we can resolve that problem.

I've been using this without issue for 200 turns, but suddenly it stopped functioning properly. Saved formations no longer show. I can create new formations, and the json gets updated, but they dont show up on the next battle.

I've tried reinstalling the mod and deleting the formations json. I can't get it to work again though. Any suggestions?

P.s. great mod! I really like your implementation with color coding the ui and making it customizable with a cfg.

That is a good question. I have been thinking about it too. It is definitely not a limitation of the engine, since it has been possible with the API that has already been exposed from engine to scripting. Formation code has much more powerful and general capabilities, like placing units based on their category and function rather then exact type. With little effort letting users to play with that could be very fun part of the game.

It boggles moy mind how this is not part of the base game. Same thing with the fine control from Empire total war. Is it a limitation with the engine?

I am glad it is useful. I made it in the first place, because I have noticed that late game I am using two or three favorite formations per army over and over. Apparently not only I do that :)

Man this is so helpful as i always use different formations with roman and greek tactics. Saves alot of time. Big Thanks!

From version 1.08 option 'include_misfit_formations = true' by default. This will allow for using the formations which have one or couple units removed or exchanged without the necessity of creating the config file. Otherwise the option can be set in config file as usual.
merc.  [author] 26 Dec, 2020 @ 1:21pm
Version 1.06 brings in optional "Replace Formation" button. Personally I like to keep it simple without it, but it can be useful if you want to keep the name of an existing formation or just update the units positions.

Version 1.05 introduces changes to the alternative mod UI positions to make it compatible with formation name text box. Some additional UI positions included.

The new version 1.04 supporting saving user supplied formation names is out. Check out description for the details of the feature configuration. Enjoy! All feedback welcome.

Thanks for explain !!!
merc.  [author] 16 Dec, 2020 @ 9:24am
Thanks. The .cfg file is not mandatory. Initially none is present and default values are used. If you want change some options you need to create text file named 'exm_formations.cfg' and put it in the 'Total War WARHAMMER II' folder. Eg. 'Steam\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER II'. Then all of the option values present in the file will be used.

Such a great mod !!! Just can't find the .cfg file anywhere.... help :(

this is a must, why is this not in the actual game?
ABDs 11 Aug, 2020 @ 10:50pm
nice
merc.  [author] 30 Jul, 2020 @ 10:34am
@EggOnLegs Thanks, I am glad it is useful.
Yes, the mod buttons are not hidden when the rest of UI becomes hidden. I think fix or at least workaround should be possible. I will see what I can do.
EggOnLegs 30 Jul, 2020 @ 9:50am
Such a needed addition to the game, great stuff! Just a small thing, i'm a fan of taking screenshots before battles when zooming about looking at units. Would it be possible to also hide the formation markers when K (Hide the UI button) is pressed? Cheers again, brilliant Mod.
Azade12 23 Jul, 2020 @ 7:38pm
NOoooo why
merc.  [author] 23 Jul, 2020 @ 7:14pm
I am pretty sure it works for any version as it relies only on very core battle script functionality. However, I won't be able to update it until August 10th:(
Calibrated 20 Jul, 2020 @ 2:07pm
Still works? this is awesome if it does I was just wishing for this feature yesterday
merc.  [author] 28 Jun, 2020 @ 7:53am
I haven't tested it in multiplayer, but I do not see any reason it wouldn't work. If somebody tried it multiplayer please let us know if it works well.
Azade12 27 Jun, 2020 @ 8:47pm
multiplayer?
crisord 24 Jun, 2020 @ 9:26pm
good mod
merc.  [author] 24 Jun, 2020 @ 11:58am
Colors are just UI sugar on top of it :). I mention the other mod in the description. This one works little bit differently. Mainly with respect to control of the formation direction, but also as to how the formations are matched and applied to the army.
Melkor Morniehin 24 Jun, 2020 @ 12:30am
