Yes you could just add it into thier XComClassData.ini for the Templar. Which would be either in the basegame configs, or the SupremeFocus mod.

I am curious. Is it possible to detach this ability from gauntlet and set it up as a level up perk in a Sage tree for example? Or it isn't coded this way?

TBH i think i'm just unlucky, it's working great now, thank you for the mod and the reply

Unknown reason, I've only heard of mods not showing up in the 2k launcher if they are for the wrong version of the game.. but this was 100% made with the WOTC SDK for the WOTC game.

Bizarre, but I'm not going to investigate at all as the 2k launcher sucks.
Please consider switching to the AML [github.com] where this mod has never had an issue :)

For anyone with the same issue, I brute forced the mod to load by adding WOTC_RustyMeditation to xcomgame/config/defaultmodoptions, xcom2-warofthechosen/xcomgame/config/defaultmodoptions, and users/'username'/onedrive/documents/mygames/xcom2/xcom2 war of the chosen/xcomgame/config/xcommodoptions. Still doesn't show up in the mod manager but thats a minor issue in my eyes, still curious if anyone knows why I had this problem

I cannot get this mod to show up in the 2k mod manager, i have tried resubscribing, putting it in the xcom mod folder, war of the chosen mod folder, and renaming it in the mod folders, in that order. this is the only mod i have run into this issue with, does anyone have any ideas? would love to have this mod as templars are my favorite class
RustyDios  [author] 19 Oct, 2021 @ 10:58am
That's pretty much it. Note it will only affect newly gained Templars. For any current ones you have you will need to use the Additional Soldier Commands mod, and its RebuildSelectedSoldier console command

Hi I trying to re-spec my current Templar but I'm not 100% sure how, do I simply remove the "_optional" from the .ini & remove the ; from XComGame.ini or do I need to edit something else too?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for making this so configurable. I set it to add just 1 Focus, so Mentally Awake still feels valuable.
RustyDios  [author] 21 Sep, 2021 @ 7:11am
Ah.. this would be because this grants a class with normal Templar Focus, um.. focus..
Proficiency Templars do not use normal Templar Focus, but use Proficiency/CHL Focus

Proficiency Templars pretty much also have this as a class ability ...
Thankyou for the report :)
GargakOfTheEast 21 Sep, 2021 @ 6:17am
For some reason, it doesn't appear to work with the Templar Proficiency class plug in. The Silent Meditation ability is always unable to be activated.

Thanks for this, for those of us using Supreme Focus. (And for allowing us to ab use it as we like. :)

@Green Raven
The solution to your dilemma is already in the config. Make focus cost HEALTH, then you won't be abusing it.

Also, it makes sense lore-wise that it would. In the game, attacking is not enough to get focus, the Templar has to get a kill or gather focus from the dead. This means it costs blood. So, in the absence of enemy blood, it is logical the Templar will have to consume his own.

Psionic melee doesn't use Focus, so this mod would be useless for them, anyway.
RustyDios  [author] 2 Jul, 2020 @ 7:46pm
No, this will currently only work with the three normal Shard Gauntlets (although you could use something like Iridars WSR or Boundirs Weapon/Item mods to give those items the ability "TemplarMeditation" )
Invertin 2 Jul, 2020 @ 7:28pm
Would this work with the secondary gauntlets from Psionic Melee? I'm gonna assume no

I like meditating and then using Volt. Very "Blood Magick" style feel to it.

I set it for one action point, drains 2 health, gives 2 focus. So with Supreme Focus, it will take 4 health to go full. Even on Beta Strike, you have to think about that. Especially when playing with Red Fog, which I do.
Green Raven 2 Jul, 2020 @ 12:14pm
I thought the health drain made more sense
RustyDios  [author] 2 Jul, 2020 @ 11:59am
Er .... nothing at all ...
Feel free to 'waste' those first two turns... well.. um... patiently meditating :)

I mean the choice to meditate with your Templar is almost entirely yours.... you could houserule/restrict yourself to only doing it post-concealment if you really wish, but I'd rather leave it completely open to the players abuse... um.. discretion

I could make it break concealment but I don't think that 'fits' meditating ...
the only other thing I could possibly try is to make it so that you have to have a hostile unit in sight, but again I don't think that 'fits' either.

If you have any suggestions for what/why/how you'd like to limit it I'd be happy to hear them :)
Green Raven 2 Jul, 2020 @ 11:28am
So, what's stopping me from wasting my first two turns of meditation (on maps without timers, such as Avatar facilities or with the Reaper order)?
Zigg Price 28 Jun, 2020 @ 8:56pm
Sweeeet! That's dope. Can't wait to play with it.
RustyDios  [author] 28 Jun, 2020 @ 8:45pm
It's also 'psi' damage by default, and the damage array is exposed in the config file so you could technically change this too. I included the option for people that wanted the extra 'kick' from using the ability, tested it does damage on use, past shields and armour.... and then decided it's not a setting I wanted for myself, so I set the damage to 0 by default :) :)

Left the option in for other people to enjoy.
RustyDios  [author] 28 Jun, 2020 @ 8:39pm
@PM_Zigg Price The self harm aspect should bypass shields/ablative, armour and sustain by default already. Although it also carries with it a check that you must have current health greater than self-damage dealt to use the ability too, so bypassing sustain was kinda pointless to add. I did so anyway.

I added the extra health > damage check because I didn't want people to accidently commit suicide with their templars.
Zigg Price 28 Jun, 2020 @ 8:11pm
Actually, I think I have a suggestion/request about the self harm aspect. I don't know how hard it would be, but is it possible to make the self harm trigger bypass shields and armor?

This seems like something that shouldn't be able to be mitigated.
Zigg Price 28 Jun, 2020 @ 4:07pm
This seems like a necessary mod for Beta Strike, as it becomes harder to get focus. At least in the early game. I like the idea of changing it a bit, so I'm glad the config is so open. Self damage seems like fun.
ImLinkn 28 Jun, 2020 @ 12:57pm
@RustyDios Self damage does sound interesting too. I wouldn't go out of your way unless you get buy-in from a majority of your subscribers. I'm just a masochist.
RustyDios  [author] 28 Jun, 2020 @ 3:34am
@videogamerlink I thought the AP cost would be enough of a risk to a Templar, it effectively forces you to waste 2 turns to use this. One turn to get into some cover, one turn to stand still and meditate. A stationary Templar is a useless Templar, IMO.

However, I also considered that might not be enough for some people, so the config file does contain an option that using Meditation costs health (in the form of self-damage). How much health is left purely to the end user for whatever Beta/Delta/Gamma strike, Armor/Health buff mods the user might be using.

I'm not sure if making the ability only 'sometimes work' is a route I wish to take. I will consider it as an alternative drawback if I can figure out how to make it do that.
Nero 27 Jun, 2020 @ 9:41pm
this makes templar similar to Jedi class bc they can meditate
this is very good
ImLinkn 27 Jun, 2020 @ 8:59pm
@RustyDios Would it be possible to add a consequence to this mod? For example, randomize the change of success of granting focus. Sometimes meditation works; sometimes nothing. Would love to integrate with my collection if the benefit also comes with risk.
Flashstriker 27 Jun, 2020 @ 1:49pm
This was somethng i really liked the look of, thank you Rusty!
