Weather Be Nicer

I know the mod is out of date but I'm throwing this out there for others looking at it:
I'm getting the same thing as Katarina, the surface remains extremely dark during your 'Clear' weather, as if the sun is not at all reaching it. Using Admin Tools to "remove weather" and restore the vanilla clear weather allows the sunlight to come through like it's supposed to, so it's something specific to this mod's weather
Darkmist  [author] 18 Sep, 2021 @ 3:24am
@Katarina, I haven't checked this mod in a while but it shouldn't be the case. This mod just adds a weather with everything set to its base values (special effects to 0, sun to 100%, etc.) and sets it with some frequency depending on the frequencies of the other weather effects set on the planet.
alpha_omega 16 Sep, 2021 @ 10:18am
@Absolarix, the .xml config file was in a folder named "2147374699.sbm_Vsi" in my game save directory. I think it named the folder by the mod ID number instead of its name. Hope that helps someone...

is it just me or does the weather of this mod make it so that it looks like that its raining but without the rain particles? its cloudy too meaning there is no sunshine visually comming through and everything outside looks pretty dark
Absolarix 24 Feb, 2021 @ 1:01pm
Trying to run this mod on a server, the config file is not showing up in the instances folder with Torch.
mazrados 21 Feb, 2021 @ 3:34am
It should be done by Keen this way.
Hopefully modders fix what they messed up.
Thanks a lot for this mod.

I tested it, it works perfectly :)
Darkmist  [author] 29 Nov, 2020 @ 12:52pm
I haven't checked the new planet, but theoretically if weather is enabled and configured, it should work.
MikaGrof 28 Nov, 2020 @ 12:41pm
does this still work on pertram?
Darkmist  [author] 7 Aug, 2020 @ 3:36pm
I am not sure it does. From what I can see, lightning is still generated the same way. Maybe you're thinking about explosion radius. If that is zero, there is indeed no lightning generated, however DisableLightningDamage here only sets the actual damage of the explosion to zero.
Jakaria  [developer] 7 Aug, 2020 @ 12:28pm
needs update, 1.196.12 reimplemented lighting damage. without there will be no lightning in thunderstorms.
Kam Solastor 25 Jul, 2020 @ 5:43pm
As a update - I found another mod was actually completely blocking weather. Haven't played too much since removing it, but definitely can confirm I have some weather now, at least :D
Darkmist  [author] 25 Jul, 2020 @ 5:18pm
@Phoenix_Rising: at least for Torch, the world saves are inside the Instance folder. It's the same as for the normal game from there on.
PhoenixRising 15 Jul, 2020 @ 1:35pm
do you know the location of the file on a server?
Kam Solastor 14 Jul, 2020 @ 8:34am
Since installing this, on a new world, I haven't seen ANY change in weather at all (earth planet), and I've spent several hours in this world now. I'm adjusting the clear weather chance to 30 - we'll see if that allows for other weather types to pop up.
GROTESK 2 Jul, 2020 @ 2:46pm
Superb!!!!
Darkmist  [author] 2 Jul, 2020 @ 2:34pm
Configuration added for clear weather chance and length... See settings section in the description.
Darkmist  [author] 2 Jul, 2020 @ 2:24pm
Yeah, but you surely don't want to do it constantly...
JIKOSU 2 Jul, 2020 @ 1:26pm
you can also use the admin screen to change the weather
Darkmist  [author] 2 Jul, 2020 @ 11:55am
Sure, I'll add configuration for the clear weather percent.
GROTESK 2 Jul, 2020 @ 11:31am
Thank! Great mod! I would like to adjust the frequency of changes in the mode. Can you make settings for this? I think that we still need to balance the change in weather. Sorry, I think there is too much good weather now.
Elder Drake 1 Jul, 2020 @ 4:48pm
Thank you Darkmist for adding that
Darkmist  [author] 1 Jul, 2020 @ 11:39am
Anyways, now there is an WeatherSettings.xml in the world storage in the save, where you can set the parameter "DisableLightningDamage" to true to reduce all lightning damage to 0.
Darkmist  [author] 1 Jul, 2020 @ 11:38am
Nope. In WeatherEffects.sbc it looks like this:

<LightningChance>1</LightningChance>
<LightningGridStrikeChance>2</LightningGridStrikeChance>
<LightningPlayerStrikeChance>2</LightningPlayerStrikeChance>
CPCSilver 1 Jul, 2020 @ 11:25am
Reddit has another solution, apparently it's "playerstrikechance" and "gridstrikechance".
Darkmist  [author] 1 Jul, 2020 @ 10:34am
I just realized that here is a LightningGridStrikeChance parameter for weather effects. Lowering that could be a solution.
Darkmist  [author] 1 Jul, 2020 @ 10:21am
I agree, but that might not be possible from a mod. From what I have seen so far of the weather code, there aren't really events that would make it possible to change the behavior...
Absolarix 1 Jul, 2020 @ 10:14am
I don't see reason to remove lightning damage. It just needs to hit grids WAY less often.
CPCSilver 30 Jun, 2020 @ 5:52pm
Thanks for the mod. I do like the new weather system but I also thought that the heavy rain storms were too frequent, especially as I was in the Savana part. I don't mind the lightning although I sometimes got hit 3 times in less than 5 minutes, haha.
Elder Drake 30 Jun, 2020 @ 4:04pm
@Darkmist
Removing lightning damage would be incredible! Please and thank you!
Darkmist  [author] 30 Jun, 2020 @ 2:42pm
What would you like to configure? Like remove lightning damage? I assume you don't just want to get rid of all the weather effects otherwise you would have just turned it off altogether. I can see merit in changing lightning parameters since lightning seems to be always striking blocks near the player and it's a lot of damage. They said that it would prioritize antennas, but I haven't checked if that works... So I could maybe do something like no lightning damage in some config file for the world if that helps.
Elder Drake 30 Jun, 2020 @ 2:19pm
Thank god for this! I have players starting on Earth-Like and they are being wrecked every hour or so by lightning. Would it be possible to make this configurable to further tweak it or maybe even reduce it to 0%?
ABlueHairedFox 30 Jun, 2020 @ 1:48pm
Finally, no more infinite thunderstorms! I mean, I know there's always a thunderstorm going on on Earth, but for the entire planet to be enveloped by a thunderstorm? That's a bit much
blitzstarwarsman 29 Jun, 2020 @ 5:57pm
this is awesome
titanius anglesmith 29 Jun, 2020 @ 3:33pm
indeed...
Darkmist  [author] 29 Jun, 2020 @ 3:14pm
Exactly. That's the reason for this mod...
titanius anglesmith 29 Jun, 2020 @ 1:16pm
its been foggy and raining for over 5 hours on the server i paly.... KSH really needs to test the updates
