@RustyDios - thanks for the response! I found the MCM setting on Squad Select:
"Upgrade Icons Only for Primaries". Unchecked that and everything started working perfect.

No slots, or no *access* to slots?
The mod doesn't hard require Mod Everything Reloaded. You could also use Robojumpers Squad select with the MCM option for "show upgrades on primaries" to OFF.

Other than that you would need to edit either the Ballistic Shield mod or another 3rd party mod like WSR, CUS or Template Master to give the shields slots.

Where would I even begin troubleshooting the fact that there are no empty spaces on my shields in which to put upgrades?

LWOTC player here. Never used this before since the author seemed to indicate it wouldn't work. But since TrooperCoon kindly provided the template names to console in these items I tested them out and have had no issues. These shield modules look amazing! Note, it may require tweaking the config if you want the shield to have the same 3 upgrade slots as LWOTC guns.

@A Kobold: What are the consequences of trying to use this in LWOTC? Is it just the IMG MISSING bug? That's not a real problem from my perspective.

I would recommend to tone down the loot drops. I am getting way to many shield attachments, but am using loot pinatas loot, so that could play a part.

Yes. You can use this without MER, providing you are using Robojumpers Squad Select and have the MCM option for "Show Upgrade Icons Only on Primaries" turned to off. This will give you the "attachment shortcuts" on squad select for all items with upgrade slots, including Ballistic Shields to use this mod.

I saw that some people were having an issue where their shields and/or melee weapons had 0 upgrade slots. I encountered the same problem and after some digging found the culprit (at least in my setup):

If you're using Odd's Campaign Tweaks, its Weapon Skin Replacer config sets the number of upgrade slots for a variety of items to zero. Changing those values to the desired values should fix the issue.

@Spaceman Spiff maybe apply flashbang status in a cone-shape-area when melee regarding Blitz shield, which could be cool.

I use the Ballistic Shields mod to mess around with a couple Rainbow Six-inspired characters like Montagne and Blitz. Regarding Blitz, I think a neat shield attachment would be a flashbang-style effect. Currently, I'd just put Flash Grenades on the character, so an AOE flash is already a thing. A shortish-range directional flash (like Blitz in R6) could be sweet too though, and probably more balanced than a big ol' AOE everytime. I imagine for further balance, it'd probably be a finite 2-3 charge system per mission which I think would balance fairly with stun duration and enemy count. Anyway.

Great idea here! Always a fan of interesting mods like this one that provide the opportunity for interesting, dynamic tactics.

So I dunno if you take suggestions, but I have a few for you if you do.

Shield Mount
Confers an aim bonus to your primary weapon (same as the Scope, but on a Shield).
As if your character is stabilising the shot with the shield itself, but because of the innate aim penalty of Shields, it mostly acts to just offset the negative.

Phalanx Build
Transforms the Shield's cover bonus from Low to High, but lowers mobility by an amount that levels with the quality of the mod.

Pure suggestions, shots in the dark I know. But I think it'd be neat if you ever do touch up on this again. This mod makes Shields much more viable!

Human sized ballistic shield cannot equip attachments due to no upgrade slots, only spark shields can. Using phalanx Proficiency Class and Melee attachment too.

Started a new game with this mod and its dependencies. Seems only spark shields are able to add attachments. The soldier shield dont have the attachment slots.

I don't know who this will help but, trying to put mods on hero ballistic shields in the secondary slot caused some kind of issue in mod everything reloaded and the game would crash only when halfway through loading a mission, the solution that worked for me was to add the line (ALLOWED_SLOTS=eInvSlot_Shield) (no parentheses) to the mod everything config
(found in (x86) > steam > steamapps > wokshop > content > 268500 > 1127491931 > config > XComWeaponCustomisation.ini).
I am in no way a coder or an expert here, so take this with a grain of salt

I haven't been able to get any of these to drop yet. I've seen about 5 Priests, no Shieldbearers yet. Is there a way I can spawn them with a console command?

You might just be unlucky. As stated, you have a 25% chance to get them on loot drops. Meaning 1 attachment per 4 missions on average. You will start to get them more consistently once you start seeing more Priests and Shieldbearers.

Hm... this is quite peculiar, pardon me Drakten but does this mod have conflict issues with melee attachment mod?

The shield mods are not dropping for me at the moment; I have melee attachment installed as well and drop works properly for that mod.
