A double-cross rescue where the rescued soldier in reality is a faceless that will attack his team on next mission when confronting next hard enemy would be cooler.

Would it be possible to add permanent stat penalties to captured soldiers? To simulate them being unable to train and maybe injuries from being tortured while in captivity?

Maybe positive consequences will be nice, like get intel (the soldier gets some info) and promotion (the soldier survived, after all)

The objective would make it possible to recover the gear. "Possible" does not have to mean "easy". I think it would be a good idea.

Instead of gear deletion why not place on a random place a chest with the soldier gear?

@Pokemastuh some people have talked about that feature in the Discord Channel. I am currently working on other mods but I might add an optional objective to recover the gear in the future.

@Pokemastuh in vanilla game the gear is recovered with the soldier. It makes little sense as the soldier has no gear during the mission (it is spawned as a regular civilian). And also for RP reasons, why would ADVENT leave the soldier with his weapon arsenal during interrogation?

With this mod, the gear will be gone forever unless you decide to disable that feature through the config files

I see. That definitely brings a heavy penalty. I look forward to it. Guess Advent figured throwing our stuff in the trash was a better idea =D.

That aside and I know this ain't really the place for it I always thought it'd be cool if there was pretty much a secondary objective on these missions to get the gear back from a secure storage crate or something nearby. A "grab it if you can" sorta deal while putting the rest of the team at risk.

When you say gear is lost I would like some clarification. Does that mean even if you rescue the soldier the gear is gone forever? Or is the gear recovered with the soldier?

Is it possible to make the alien's weapons malfunction from time to time, this is from the fandom site:

"However, it is noted that alien plasma weaponry is highly unstable, with a very fine line between 'functioning' and 'overloading', and complexity in trying to operate certain weapons."

It would be fun to watch their weapons misfire (or even explode if it's moddable).

I have three questions about captured team-mates:
- Is there a mod which shows the team-members "missing in action" in the team rooster?
- would it be possible to set and display a counter, how often a team member was captured?
- would it be possible to set the clothing or perhaps a tattoo of a captured team-member?

@UMebius ™ I actually tested the mod with the two recommended mods... without them it would have been a nightmare to test as those missions are REALLY rare in base game.

I always thought losing gear was vanilla. I usually wrote that off as a loss. Definately adding this mod

yes, surrender mod is recommended. Keep in mind however, surrendering is n longer a free Summer vacation. With this mod the solider will be traumatized and loose gear if not configured.

Could you make a road to redemption style companion mod to this where they start out penalized but gain a grudge ability, perhaps a hatred ability vs a random unit type

For people using Augmentations (or even MEC trooper mods) it might be cool to see consequences like 'needs a leg replaced' or 'must be made into a MEC' because ayys. >.>
