Renovated Roman Cities

@Ġedryht of Wōden Justinian wasnt threatened by any barbarian group he was trying to take back The Western half of the Empire and while he may have been screwed over by plagues and infighting he mostly succeeded
Ġedryht of Wōden 1 Apr @ 6:05am
The developers just presumed that the Late Roman Empire looked declined but it didn't. It's odd because they did an entire DLC based on the event which destroyed Roman civilisation in the West (age of Justinian) but don't seem to realise it was Justinian that destroyed Western civilisation, not the "barbarians". The ancient Roman senate, aquaducts, bathhouses etc were still in use even after the Goths conquered Italy.
Curse Justinian who probably felt threatened by Italia's claim to a truer Roman identity.

compatible with 1212?
Rolo 8 Feb, 2022 @ 12:50pm
I would really like to see muslim buildings in charlemagne for emirate of Cordoba....
Stix_09 13 Jan, 2022 @ 5:27pm
I think it is possible but not easy. The MK1212 team are trying to do this with their mod I believe to give a more medieval building look.

From MK1212 FAQ
12) Why are there no medieval buildings yet?

Our efforts so far have been focused on designing the campaign and fleshing out unit rosters. Once these tasks are done, the focus will shift to battle maps and campaign map settlement models.

13) Can the campaign map be modified to add new regions? And why are some regions not in the right place?

As there are no official campaign map modding tools aside from Terry (which mostly does cosmetic changes), campaign map editing is next to impossible until methods of doing so are discovered.

We are aware of the upcoming Rise of Mordor's campaign editing tool; but we can assess and formulate a plan based on its capabilities only when it has been released/we are able to get our hands on it.

Going to jump in here for Theodomar @Killinspecialist / @Karian Axeman: Modding the battle map has certain limitations, and your request is unfortunately not possible with the given resources the modding community has to work with. Mods like mine and Theodomar are possible because we have ROME II assets to work with to "patch" Attila with, but changing individual buildings on the battlemap is not possible with the toolset we have.
Killinspecialist 8 Oct, 2021 @ 8:00pm
@Karian Axeman thats a great idea but idk how feasible it is
pharaonhotep 8 Oct, 2021 @ 5:09am
Great mod, thank you very much for making it. It's great that you have kept the atmosphere of decline. But it would be nice if there was a mod where structures such as amphitheaters and stadiums were restored for the western empire. It's a shame when I restored the whole empire, rebuilt cities, established income, and in the battle instead of a flourishing city you see pitiful ruins. Is it possible to somehow repair all cultural and religious buildings?

I apologize if the translation is incorrect.

Update :
Overall changes for Western buildings.
-More saturated stone tiles
-Replace one of the wooden parts with stone textures
-Increase roof's brightness and adjusted to more natural terracotta orange tone
-Retextured western towers

ХАХАХАХАХАХАХАХА
it could be possible but you'd need all the model files from ToB to make it functional
ShuriK 1 Aug, 2021 @ 8:14am
yo i wanted to ask you, do you think its possible to port thrones of britannia settlements into attila?
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 20 Jul, 2021 @ 12:18am
If the building is about the same size then I can replace them with no issue. Otherwise there will be clipping with surrounding buildings unless someone rearrange cities layout (which is unfortunately out of my skill).
mercenary 19 Jul, 2021 @ 8:58am
First of all I want to thank you for the amazing mod! I would like to ask you if roman buildings (like temples and markets) from Rome 2 could be added to enchance the western roman cities during the campaign?
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 14 Jul, 2021 @ 1:18am
No performance impact. I just simply retextured the files without upscaling.
Alessar 🐺🦄🦅 13 Jul, 2021 @ 8:00pm
Any performance impact?
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 15 Jun, 2021 @ 10:35pm
Updated roof texture for Western Romans to be more orange-ish.

Frosted Vert I got Wickham's Inheritance of Rome and i'm deeply interested in Post-Roman world. Glad to see another Late Antiquity lover. I'm saving up to buy more books especially Brown's.
Killinspecialist 23 May, 2021 @ 5:51pm
@Frosted Vert theres plenty of DEI like mods Fall of The Eagles with Europa Perdita being the main one but theres other realistic overhauls
Yo Gabba Gabba! 23 May, 2021 @ 4:40pm
I have been periodically checking the workshop for years, hoping for an update to Attila mods, something in the vein of DeI for Rome II.

I studied Late Antiquity in grad school. Every time I am picking my way through the Cambridge Ancient or Medieval encyclopedias, or a 600 page book by Brown, Cameron or Mills, I wish I could unwind by playing a deeply detailed TW Attila mod. lol My supervisor would probably write you an angry letter if he knew this is why I was so distracted. Job very well done.

As a historian, and fan of the series it sometimes feels CA has left behind for the Chinese market and Warhammer IP, thank you. I can tell this was a labour of love and I want you to know how appreciated it is.

By the way, Wickham's Book [www.amazon.ca] does a great job detailing both Roman and Barbarian urban architecture and layouts, if you have a passion for the subject.
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 28 Apr, 2021 @ 5:20am
now you can go back to Roman cities and unleash your loads ;)
Ocelot 26 Apr, 2021 @ 5:48pm

cartersvilleranger 1 Apr, 2021 @ 10:05am
I just tried to search for the barbarian version... Not seeing it. Not out yet?
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 7 Mar, 2021 @ 9:18am
Incoming Renovated Barbarian Cities will be available tomorrow (hopefully). I tried upload it today but there's an launcher error which doesn't let me do so. I'll try again next day.
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 15 Feb, 2021 @ 7:02am
Update : Texture for generic western Roman building are now brighter and more saturated.

thanks very much, keep up the good work :) :westernromanempire:
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 24 Dec, 2020 @ 8:44pm
Captain MRCreeperPlayer It just a retexture without touching any models so it would be compatible with every mods out there
Captain MRCreeperPlayer 24 Dec, 2020 @ 10:22am
I haven't played in the sieges of Roman cities yet
Captain MRCreeperPlayer 24 Dec, 2020 @ 10:20am
Could you tell me if, this mod changes the structures of Roman cities or just changes the textures and makes them more realistic? :westernromanempire:
•LGA• Cyrus: Emperor of Mankind 8 Dec, 2020 @ 3:03pm
not a problem and good to hear, rextexturing to make it look more like Ancient Rome would really do and model replacing a few bits and bobs there would really help
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 8 Dec, 2020 @ 8:13am
The Medjay of Fayium Editing cities layout is over my scope and skills. I can retexture as you mentioned. Models replacing is still possible though.
•LGA• Cyrus: Emperor of Mankind 7 Dec, 2020 @ 3:42pm
Would it be possible to add the large Roman/Greek temples into the city of Rome? That'd be really nice
•LGA• Cyrus: Emperor of Mankind 7 Dec, 2020 @ 2:50pm
And add more Roman circuses to cities they're very lacking. Are you able to add buildings like the Senate and the new building that's present in the Rise of the Republic city map of Rome?
•LGA• Cyrus: Emperor of Mankind 7 Dec, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Awesome, I wonder if you could colour the temples a bit and maybe add a few more colours? Gold, red etc? Or is that impossible

Thx u for creating a mod like this, SORELY needed.
N3XUS12 1 Dec, 2020 @ 9:16am
Ignore my last post, I just noticed the mod I mentioned is in your description. My bad
N3XUS12 1 Dec, 2020 @ 8:52am
Hey, this mod looks great. Can I ask what the difference is between your mod and 'Immersive: Roman City Restoration by Sakanade'? Or are they compatible? You both seem to have done something similar, and they both look great so I don't know which one to subscribe to!
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 22 Nov, 2020 @ 7:18pm
Sakanade Thanks. I can definitely say that your mod has inspired mine.
Gaheku 22 Nov, 2020 @ 11:27am
Great synergy Theodomar, thank you for the call-out!
This re-texturing was sorely needed, the game is very burdened with too much brown/tan colouration.
imdrunk 22 Nov, 2020 @ 7:13am
@Theodomar very nice thank you! lets make AoC great again (also MAGA lol):steamhappy:
AnyaLiovanda  [author] 22 Nov, 2020 @ 6:37am
howareyou Modding graphic/lighting setting is beyond my skill. The best I can do are retextures and importing models from Rome 2 or ToB. but I'll see what I can replace the wall texture with.
imdrunk 21 Nov, 2020 @ 1:30pm
So I am making an AoC reviesed mod to improve the aoc campaign in fote+ep, so it would be great that you could help :)
imdrunk 21 Nov, 2020 @ 1:23pm
Also this mod is a very good wall mod for AoC, but still not so perfect. would you like to improve it upto the same level of your mod? thx
