not a bad idea there. I might send him a message regarding this. It's a good idea for a new mod :D

This is a question for the maker, BloodyPenguin.

I went into Asset Editor and used Mod Tools to 'show edited prefab'. I scrolled through the Scene Explorer and selected "m_buildingAI" and then scrolled down and found "m_upgradeTarget" which had the name of the level 2 default main building next to it.

However, I couldn't find anyway to change this, I tried clicking on it and it did nothing. I also tried further exploring the properties in scene explorer and still couldn't find anything.

If you know how to use Mod Tools, and you find anything, please let me know :)

Yes, I am afraid this goes beyond my knowledge. I would guess that the mod Ability to Read might help; but not at all sure.

My custom forestry main building is called Forest Foundation Head Office, and the level 2 and 3 versions are called Forest Foundation Head Office L2 & Forest Foundation Head Office L3 respectfully.

Despite having made level 2 and 3 versions of the main building it still upgrades to the default model. Maybe there is a way to link up the 3 levels of the main building using Mod Tools so the game knows which model to upgrade to (custom instead of default).

I would appreciate it. Everything I have learned has been through my own trial and error!

The advice is greatly appreciated. I'll test this and let you know what happens.

Try it and let me know! I made some farming I think that go up to level 2 and 3 but I have yet to play-test that in-game because I have not reached those milestones yet in that specific city. I am moving too fast from one idea to the other so I only get my sample cities up to a few thousand population in order to take good screenshots for the WS.

I don't know for sure if it will upgrade to the custom and not the vanilla - I don't think it matters what you name them - the function of the building is embedded in its type, which is why you can import any model you want and have it function as whatever in-game.

I'm building a large modern forestry industry for my city. I have a generic looking office (4 stories tall) that I wanted to use as my main building.

When I create the level 2 and 3 versions, does it matter what I name them?

Also, how can I be sure that when my main building upgrades, it will upgrade to the custom model and not the vanilla one?

Sorry if I ask too many questions. I just want to make sure I know everything I need to :D

Out of curiosity - what are you working on?
m4gic  [author] 17 Apr, 2021 @ 7:47am
Yes - there are three levels of industry main buildings and you need to make a new asset for each one. I have only made level one mains for very simple industries so they are not meant to upgrade.

Hey, I'm currently trying to figure out how to re-purpose an asset into an industries DLC main building. I've used mod tools to convert it, like I did with my extractor and processor buildings (which work perfectly fine), and when the main building upgardes (to level 2) it upgrades to the vanilla model. Is there any way to fix this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
