Its fine as long as you use it on a single block. Using it on multiple blocks is when things start to get messed up

Never use Carve option. It is bad. most of time you get bad compiling ( not error or crash the map will work fine but it will take more time etc ) It is not a good way to make shapes.

the way i did the giant dish thingy in the middle on the ground was i got a big area of land, created a sphere, then placed it half-way into the ground, used the "carve" option, then retextured everything in the hole to concrete

@Maxjk0 yeah well there are a few ways to do it honestly.

Its possible to make tons of arches reaching in the middle and use the vertex editor to joint them all together but it take a lot of time.

It is also possible to use Displacement. Its an easier way to do it. but I think there are some limit to how it will looks like.

I like to see people remaking some good old maps on hammer. I have a few years of experience now :P

yeah, i think its because brushes cant go con-cave
i learned that the verry annoying way doing bobomb battlefield and trying to use the vertex tool to make parts of the mountian, every time i made a block it would need to have hammer "fix" it to not be concave, eventhough it threw stuff out of line

Looks like mostly everyone has some problem modeling the "bowl" at the bottom...
I understand that Hammer is a bitche sometime when its time to make domes lol

apparently someone made a version of the cradle before i made this one, but i never searched to see if someone made it before, you should check it out, its in my n64 maps collection.

Good job, For a while I was thinking about making a HD version of cradle but i just haven't had time for it. That's a pretty simple design after all. I got the one from Ge source instead lol

You mean like just made out of regular blocks? yes, exept there are a few prop_statics, and a prop_dynamic for the birds.

i just remade the cradle from the n64 game, i didnt change up the map layout wise, other than the fact that you can jump from place to place, which i find fun

its strange, i made the map have spawns more spread out, but i think deathmatch mode gave it custom spawns. My favorite gamemode for this map is arms race

Impatient, I uploaded this map to my server in DM mode and gave it a solo run. Its a very tight map and the action in DM mode is hectic to say the least. I'm anxious to give it a whirl in Competitive mode on monday. Aside from some bland colors, I saw nothing the matter with this map. Nicely done. I'll rate the map once I have a chance to play it under normal conditions and with other people.

I'll give this a go on our server next week. We're currently having a deathmatch weekend. It reminds me of the old CS 1.6 map tree_tops (minus the trees :) )

I remember speed running this in about 50 secs on the N64 LOL. One thing that's missing is the landscape, it's full of trees. Look on GoldenEye: Source to get a generic idea. Other than that, this looks really awesome and I really want to play this map!
