Otherwise I'm absolutely in love with this book.
The book could be a personal alchemist note book:
Blank at the beginning and the more you discover the effects of ingedients, the more it would be enriched.
If you have the book with you at an alchemy stand, it could provide some other functionalities when you are doing some Alchemy:
Store the combination of ingredient you already tried + store the results in a diary section of the note book, it would allow to infer the effects an ingredient has NOT, based on the trials you already made and the known effects of the ingredients. + When you are trying a combination of ingredients, you should be informed if you already tried this combination.
Additional items, sheets, would be found as a loot in the dungeons or purchased to some "specialists" and they would contain some Information about a random ingredient. Reading them would add an info in the note book, and it would add a small XP amount in Alchemy
About Skyrim Special edition. I can't convert it myself because of technical reasons, in other words my internet can't handle a 25 gig download. There is a version of this for SSE - PC on Nexus uploaded by Xarxee with my permission, but I don't think he did a console version, at least not as far as I know.
If anyone else wants to port it to XBox I think that would be great. As far as I'm concerned this mod is now totally open for anyone to do what they want with it.
I don't think it would work with PS4 because of Sony's limitation on including extra files, but maybe there could be a work around for it. Anyway have a good Christmas guys.
You could give yourself the book using a console command. If you don’t know how to open the console, look at the left side of your keyboard where the tab key is, above the tab key is another key with a squiggly line, that key will toggle the console on or off.
To give your self the book you need to know it’s form ID and it’s load order #. The form ID is 002DB3 and that needs to be preceded by the hexadecimal load order number.
With the console open type in: Help “alchemist’s compendium” 4 with the quote marks around the name. This might give you something like 0A002DB3
So command is: Player.additem 0a002db3 1 the #1 at the end is the quantity you want.
Now Steam has an Alchemy category but it wouldn't let me change the category unless I was updating the file, so I had ti trick it into thinking that I was updating. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, but hopefully it will now be easier for people to find this file here at Steam.
The name is very slightly different because Nexus wont let you use an apostrophe in the title, so if you type in a search the way it's spelled here it might not come up. On Nexus it is just Alchemist Compendium.
Would you consider an inclusion whereby reading the relevant volumes you character learns the effects for each ingredient, i.e. once you've read the book each ingredient shows up all effects instead of unknown?
