I've since found this in another mod:
"NOTE: The HL:A campaign has a known issue where playing from the first chapter disables addons, so start a new game from Chapter 2 onward."
So the problem isn't the mod, but a bug in the game itself when you start a game from the beginning.
could you provide a way for others to add stuff to the menu themselves?
1. Bring Hand to controller (NOT touching anything or making a gesture)
2. Click the trigger ONCE (Do NOT hold)
then it works, if you hold the trigger or especially if doing so before raising your hand like it says in the description to-then it wont open at least for me
to use mods I guess it's somewhat similar to a new game plus-type thing
here are some steps that got me to be able to open and use the menu.
Step 1. Download (Spawn/Utility Menu)
Step 2. Download (Scalable Init Support) (Download order does not matter)
Step 3. Open Half-Life Alyx and enable the mods above (Mods are disabled by default)
Step 4. Pre-Existing playthoughs cannot play addons, you have to start a new game and Start
game with addons enabled, and to clarify this doesn't mean just enable mods and start a
new game but under the start game button when creating a new game there is literally a
button that says (start game with addons enabled)
If this doesnt help re-download the mods on step 1 and 2 or restart the game, preferably both if needed to.
And I'ma be honest, why would you make the action to opening the menu the same action for retrieving items on your back.
