Appreciate keeping us posted, I started a new dwarf game just to try these badboys out and they just weren't there!

Bad news boys, It's seems that my latest updates for fixing a problem with unique indexes broke everything.
I will try to fix this in the coming days by re-releasing all my mods.
Sorry for the inconvenience and please be patient.

Very true, functionally Runic arts are Dwarf approximations of the winds, they may even be attached to one of the winds, or even a kind of natural magic, but I won't act like a Dwarf expert as I haven't read up on them much - Healing Runes, and those that chip away at Undead health pools, would be ideal

@TheRotKing Indeed, full magic access would not be lore-friendly that's for sure, or at very least would end up like Chaos Dwarf.
Maybe there was some kind of runic power with healing properties?
They are Clerics after all, so they should focusing on heal the wounded and such.

@zerg93 That's the one, the Thunderhoof Boar Riders!
I was gutted to see the mod wasn't up to date, I would have loved some Dwarf cav but i don't risk any mods that may not be so, but nvm

I would include spellcasters for Dwarfs, however there seems to be a lore-based impediment to that - They by and large can't or won't cast magic. I think there has been one in lore, but it seems the Dwarfs are so rooted in the native earth that they are not so easily swayed by the temptation to access the winds of chaos -
Having said that, the Chaos Dwarfs may be a separate army but are of the same race,
and we know what happens when they practice magic in their wicked worship of Hashut...

@TheRotKing Not Wolves but hairy enough! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1308901733&searchtext=dwarf+cavalry

Personally I would suggest other Guardian units, maybe other runic/magical units and the Clerics of Gazul which should have access to the lore of life.
Chungus Amongus 22 Feb, 2021 @ 1:54pm
You got all the above such as the swords, some crossbows, the mortar (doesn't hit your own guys like the Empire one) and throw in a unique ranger unit, and what else?
Before I write a whole new army book here and now, I'll say that there's the Order of Guardians, a group of undead hunters that predate most Imperial Witch Hunter Orders, and saw on here that someone made some cavalry for Dwarfs, too! I want to say they were wolf riders, but it might have been something equally hairy like my Grandad's back.

Any other suggestions?

For the Cult of Gazul, the Ancestor God and protector of the dead, a focus on traditional weapons (no guns or harpoons for infantry, and no gyros) but innovating in other ways would make sense, as they are sombre creatures. I'd say a focus on buffing them up to be absolutely LETHAL against the undead in every respect and nothing else would be the way.
Not 100% sure if I'd add the flamethrower for as perfect a weapon it would be against waves of undead, a melee focused faction wouldn't exactly appreciate having lava dunked on their head, it's like burning your hand on hot tomato sauce as you pull the baked beans out of the microwave, but caused by someone else and a lot worse.

@Darkwolf You know, I don't want to get you excited for nothing, because I'm lousy at getting things done - I haven't tried modding before, but if I was to start anywhere it would be to put some units together and say I made a custom faction for this game, as after so many years of reading about WHFB but being too poor to buy into it, this game is a great opportunity for an established fan to explore the depths of the lore, as well as bring the setting to a whole new audience
zerg93  [author] 22 Feb, 2021 @ 2:14am
@Darkwolf I did, but creating a new faction requires a lot of additional work and messing with the startpos, which could be problematic to say the least.
Plus, they should have a few more units, heroes and at very least one Lord before they can be even considered a sub-faction.
As I did mention It in the Q&A section of the mod, if anyone with custom factions experience Is interested in making this a new custom faction: go for It.
With proper credits you can use ALL of my stuff.
Darkwolf 22 Feb, 2021 @ 12:21am
Have you thought about making these guys a faction of their own? Maybe a roving faction of some kind?
Chungus Amongus 21 Feb, 2021 @ 2:53pm
@Thunder Chunder Oh yes, you're right! I forgot stabbing/thrusting, which if I were to guess, would be these Dwarfs preferred method of attack, if they use the hammer animations, and bloody great Azumgi-style weapons - Good point!
Chungus Amongus 21 Feb, 2021 @ 2:48pm
@zerg93 It is a funny thought, I do love all those bits of lore that add depth and even some notable exceptions to each faction's culture, especially the tongue-in-cheek and satirical parts -
Glad I could give you a giggle!
Thunder Chunder 21 Feb, 2021 @ 2:41pm
Tbh I believe that in some sword fighting strikes with larger blades you do sometimes hold the blade. Mainly for thrusting and such, but still.
zerg93  [author] 21 Feb, 2021 @ 2:25pm
@TheRotKing Thanks!
Also "but I love the idea of other Dwarfs shunning them because their religious dogmatism (which in a sense is rare among Dwarfs) led to them making the swords too big for their people to easily use! XD" made my day, thank you my good sir XD
Chungus Amongus 21 Feb, 2021 @ 1:59pm
Wait, are you saying the way the G-swords are being held is silly? I don't think it looks too bad - Screenshot suggests they never let go of the blade when shaking their weapon in the air, which I imagine will look odd, but I really like the idea of a chap that size having to hold onto the blade; Not only was that practical given such swords would be reversed and the pommel/handle used as a club in history, but I love the idea of other Dwarfs shunning them because their religious dogmatism (which in a sense is rare among Dwarfs) led to them making the swords too big for their people to easily use! XD

Good work mate, will be giving this one a go!
