in verticality for example, the weapons tend to still have a resemblance to black holes pretty much everywhere in the map, but i guess this will be improved in the lighter version ))
Check out the update--it addresses the "black hole" issue. The weapons may still be too dark for your taste, but I'm already doing testing on a lighter version of the mod that actually looks promising!
I’ll definitely start working on a lighter version of the mod. I have some ideas on how to boost brightness a little without affecting the look of the mod too much.
Will definitely be subscribing to anything else GGX-esque from you though, especially if it's a lighter version.
Still, I might play around and see what I can do. Stay tuned...
Noone calls an AR a little gray rifle, but noone calls it a black hole either.
I think a separate version which would be a tad brighter than this one here would be amazing. Because it is just unreal how much these things absorb light.
For the record, the current version looks great, but it looks great so rarely. Nine times out of ten it is just RGB 0, 0, 0.
1. Navigate to: ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\222880\620049740
2. Copy "trueholodot.vpk" and paste it to:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom
3. Rename the file to "_trueholodot.vpk" (just add a "_" at the beginning--this should give it priority over my mod).
4. Start the game and see if it works.
5a. If it worked, do a dance or eat some cake or something.
5b. If it didn't work, navigate to: ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\222880\2431226948
6. Copy "shader mod (ggx-ish + rimlight) v.2.vpk" and paste it to the same folder from Step 2.
7. Unsubscribe from GGX-ish Shader Mod.
Good luck!
Option #1
1. Reboot your computer.
2. Unsubscribe from the optic mod, then resubscribe (make sure it finishes downloading again before you move on).
3. Start the game and see if it works (it probably won't).
4. Close the game, then perform Step 2 again.
5. This should work, but if not--repeat Steps 2-4 until it works or until you want to smash something out of frustration.
However, if there was enough interest I could make a version of the mod using the default color/brightness settings. The weapons would be lighter, but they'll look like plastic airsoft toys again (just without the Vaseline).
in the other 80% they look way too dark
Anyway, if you want you might try what I suggested last time, except with my mod instead of the optic mod. At this point anything’s worth a shot.
Navigate to the following folder:
...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\222880\620049740
Copy trueholodot.vpk and paste it here:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\custom
If this works you should be able to unsubscribe to the optic mod, but if you want to stop using it in-game you'll need to move it out of the insurgency\custom folder.
If this doesn't work, I'll try making you a custom version of my mod that hopefully won't interfere with the optic mod.
I appreciate the amount of time and effort you put in it though, good job

Thanks for your comments! Sorry if it seemed like I was ragging on your mod, that was not my intention. I was dabbling in GGX a while back, and it frustrated the hell out of me because it looks SO good sometimes, and then so NOT good at other times. I ended up not renewing Photoshop, so I moved on to my mod here that only required me to edit .vmt files for the most part.
I definitely have tried your mod at various stages (I think before the bronze fix and then the most recent release). For me the weapons look too washed out, but it could just be my monitor because 1,069 people seem to disagree with me!
I was probably overly harsh on GGX shaders, but I just feel that they're extremely temperamental. I was never even fully satisfied with my own GGX mods (hence I never published). That said, I am definitely looking forward to trying the next version of your mod, even if I still like mine better at the moment ; )
Thanks for sharing your project with us ❤️
