Blue-Violet Galaxy Map

FYI about an odd thing. During the Gray Goo crisis, part of my empire was visually covered with gray fog, with no relationship to how far the goo got (none of the systems under this visual effect were actually hit by the goo). After the crisis this effect remained until the end of the game - even after I became Emperor.

I don't know if this is actually related to this mod, but this is the only mod I'm using that affects the map visuals. Since I found playing the game all the way through to the end year very tedious, I doubt I'll ever do this again but I thought you'd want to know about it.

@Der Schneehase
Maybe somehow this is possible, but there are no such plans.

Is there any way to show the background texture from the start of the game? So that you see a full, colored galaxy even when unexplored?
TimeWalker 28 Apr, 2021 @ 12:06pm
Nice mod. Please update for 3.0.2, thanks!

@Der Schneehase
Thanks!
Galaxy is colorless in unexplored systems, as in the original.
Hyperlanes turn red if another state has closed borders for you.

Great mod, i got 2 questions: the colored galaxy does only show on discovered systems, not on fog of war? Blocked hyperlanes (by diplomacy) are not shown any more, cant distinguish them from open hyperlanes? Are either intentional or am I missing something, thanks!

I don't know if I had cache issues initially, but it turns out I made the mistake of leaving my local mod in the mod folder while trying to get the workshop version to work. Silly me thinking the launcher could tell the difference <.< Removing the local version fixed the issue, but in my effort to get the launcher to cooperate, I might have botched the cache for real because all of a sudden all my other mods weren't working either.

I finally sorted it out though. Cleared the cache and such. Thank you for helping, I appreciate it. You were right at least in that it wasn't an issue with the mod itself, which did help, hah.

@Col. Hathi
I had something similar, the mod from the workshop did not work, and everything from the game files was ok. I solved the problem like this: unsubscribed from the mod in the workshop, cleared the cache in the launcher, completely re-logged into Steam, subscribed to the mod again.

If only textures do not work for you, there may be an error in the format for saving dds files.

I'm having some trouble getting some of my own map .dds files to load in-game through a mod of my own. They'll only load if I personally replace the vanilla files. I don't suppose you know why the game won't load the files just because they're in a mod?

Gotcha, thanks. Great mod!

@Neon Droid
Yes indeed. At medium settings, the nebula and the center of the galaxy lose volume and are located in the same plane, the textures are superimposed on each other.

I fixed this by making the center diameter slightly smaller. But if possible, I would recommend using high settings.

@LostCreatoR nope. Just tried your mod solo, same thing happens. Maybe there is something wrong with my graphic settings? They are set on medium if that values.
Baka Racker 25 Mar, 2021 @ 4:43pm
@LostCreatoR Just loaded the game up with your mod included in my list, works fine and looks even better in game. Spasibo drug!

@Neon Droid
Do you have any other galaxy changing mods? I checked that everything is in order with the textures, there should be no problems.
John Crysis [CEO of Crytek btw] 25 Mar, 2021 @ 2:18pm
There is a bug with nebulas texture. Somewhere they are cut in half, the upper half being pure black.
LostCreatoR  [author] 25 Mar, 2021 @ 3:26am
@Baka Racker Thanks!
There should be no conflicts. Mod affects only the textures of the galaxy and the hyperlanes.
Baka Racker 23 Mar, 2021 @ 11:45am
Wow, that looks very pretty. Hopefully it won't conflict with the other mods I have, definitely going to give it a try!
