Suggestion. What about adjusting this so you have 1 power transmitter and 1 receiver but 2 way comms. It would still connect the same way but you would pick which is the power transmitter and the other you set to receiver mode so the transmitter is the same high power draw as now but the receiver is reduced to 2x of normal instead of the current high draw (think big flood light shining at a solar panel).

I would love to see a power generator mod where it "looks" like a really long rotor (1x tall - 1x wide - 3x long [along the crankshaft]) so that if you hook ANY other block to it that can make it turn it will generate power (dependent on rpm) so we can make some other devices to turn them (like a small grid rotor connected to a wheel turning a wheel on the large grid generator)
The Erubian Warlord 18 JUL 2024 a las 17:45
does anybody know where the part that controls the connected power draw increase is in the code im trying to use mod adjuster but i dont know where to start
Wade Elric 27 JUN 2024 a las 16:25
@kinngrimm i can confirm that it does at least in single player still testing it
Adivrsity 13 MAY 2024 a las 19:47
Going to do some testing, but this might be a solution to independent turret satellites without using solar or relying on solar. Expensive, but might work!
kinngrimm 8 FEB 2024 a las 16:53
Would you consider a version with a bit different balancing?
Different efficiency fall offs from static grid to none static(ship) grids.
Also if i read your description correctly, maybe the emphasis less put on a static increase of xy %, but a diminishing return of power transfered. Differenece being if one gets serrious on power generation, yours seem to have a break even point, but you could just reduce exponentially towards 0 depending on distance and that distance configurable in game settings. Which as i write this i realize this could be quite the effort ... maybe someday someone ...

would this by chance work with'

I would like to be able to hide displayed blocks from another grid
PepperJack 29 ABR 2023 a las 11:57
Is it possible to get "connect to receiver Grid" to stay enabled after game/server restarts?
PepperJack 18 MAR 2023 a las 12:09
This mod doesn't get enough love! GREAT JOB!! Is there any way to do this with normal antenna?
ehajgbo 13 FEB 2023 a las 8:08
Hey. Im on a dedicated server and I connected my ground base with a satellite above my base. The laser from the base goes DOWN into the planet instead of straight up towards the sky. The antenna head is looking up tho so thats correct, its just the laser beam that goes the wrong way.
If I check it from the satellite it looks ok, so it goes down towards the planet. Planet is vanilla earthlike.
Afoekon 25 ENE 2023 a las 13:57
I like the idea of this mod but the power consumption is just too much.
mugsy 24 NOV 2022 a las 5:30
i would not do this with power consumption, i would just lower the transfer efficiency so at about 5km you lose 50% of the power sent and at 10km you get nothing.
BIV 30 OCT 2022 a las 12:25
Well done, glad to see someone sharing it around just as Telsa wanted too before Musk got his hands on it. I agree with Mojo, 5000%, can't we haggle a bit? :) cheers mate.
Mojo 29 OCT 2022 a las 12:12
5000% increase in consumption a bit too steep I think. Would be better at half that.

Just my opinion. Still nice work.
Unruly 13 DIC 2021 a las 14:33
Hi, thanks for this mod. My question concerns batteries: they don't seem to charge while grid-connected?

Also, how hard would it be to have a logically-connected grid that doesn't share power? (and thus, the link's power consumption might go down.)
Church.exe 4 DIC 2021 a las 5:10
Is there a power efficiency loss when wirelessly sending it? Having some form of wireless power would be neat for my modpack but I don't want it to replace other more intensive transfer methods. (for instance I still want there to be an incentive to use the tether power transfer from another mod)
Emomon 12 SEP 2021 a las 19:41
Can you provide a variation with lower power consumption? I am interested in using this for my SP survival game but the power consumption is a bit costy..
lechkingofdead 10 AGO 2021 a las 19:31
ok well ill slap it into my test game for what i plan to run in mp, its not started because i just cant seam to get a opening in a FILLED TO H$%$^ sceedual of a friends life. life he is barly able to play it feels
Nomad  [autor] 8 AGO 2021 a las 10:02
@lechkingofdead I've no idea, you're just going to have to try it.
lechkingofdead 6 AGO 2021 a las 14:01
im talking about theoverhaul mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2344068716
this mod changes a few things and though i know the base game parts exist im just wondering as i currently have it for a play with a dude who plays factorio.
Nomad  [autor] 6 AGO 2021 a las 8:03
@lechkingofdead It works well with the new Heavy Industry DLC. I know why the tethers mod broke because it was the same reason this one broke. Which I've fixed now. :steamhappy:
RealCherno 5 AGO 2021 a las 1:15
Thanks for the comment on the other mod page(Power...). I really need someting like this. Better than cable.
lechkingofdead 4 AGO 2021 a las 13:59
question how well does this work with the industrial mod because i want something for power transmition.
Nomad  [autor] 30 JUL 2021 a las 7:36
@Frosty that should be fixed now.
Frosty 30 JUL 2021 a las 0:34
The latest update seems to have broken this mod, they still connect the grids in terminal but don't transfer power
Nomad  [autor] 10 JUL 2021 a las 8:53
This mod is not guaranteed to work with 100% of all other mods (although it should work with the vast majority of them). This is because I don't know how other mod developers are manipulating the game in their mods. This mod requires 'line of sight' between two antennas to work, if anything is obscuring that (such as shields), there may be a problem.
Fèru Or 9 JUL 2021 a las 16:23
it does not work with shields. you can put your shields down on your controller and it is still disabled but if you switch off your shield emitter block it will connect. also recommend Hull's Economical Laser Antenna mod.
Tabularasa 14 JUN 2021 a las 11:27
Works this mod together with shield mods?
ArcWolf 25 MAY 2021 a las 8:26
I cant seem to find the config file for changing the options. I need to disable the visible laser because its firing a laser between my stargates when they are activated. I assumed it would be in storage under the id 2462320614 but I dont see it. It seems like the script isnt actually creating a new config when SaveSettings() is called first run. <shrugs> Are there chat commands to edit the various config options?

/lagf visiblelaser false

etc...
mugsy 17 MAY 2021 a las 5:12
@Nomad well i am using hinges and small grid heads now...
it still keeps the long range under wraps.... but its working better for what i want.
Nomad  [autor] 15 MAY 2021 a las 9:54
@mugsy There's gotta be a downside dude or it would be too over powered. :steamhappy:
mugsy 14 MAY 2021 a las 20:45
this is cool for powering remote mounted turrets, lights, hangars and mines.
but the power loss makes it unusable as you spread out.
Ryker 26 ABR 2021 a las 16:15
@Nomad Confirm it is working. TY for this!
BIV 26 ABR 2021 a las 13:01
Cheers mate, I will keep that in mind, I too amm playing alone as I've just started player this game and I need to learn and experience way more or get myself into a group that's big enough that no-one notices that 1 member just seems to hand mine or weld. Take care .
Nomad  [autor] 26 ABR 2021 a las 12:45
@Ryker Test the new version I've posted and see if that works in multiplayer. It works for me but I'm only testing with one player.
BIV 25 ABR 2021 a las 18:01
I can't wait to try this out. This looks great, having to build wind turbines or solar panels etc when it's likely to be taken down again when you've finished in an area or destoyed by 'visitors' used to be a pain, but no longer it seems. Telsa would be so proud; @ TheWonderer - he was the guy that was about to release non-directional, transmitted electricity. (Lucky for Edison and Westinghouse)
Tanoshi 25 ABR 2021 a las 12:39
Any way you could say, make the large dish type antennae be designed to reduce/remove the power loss rate or something similar
Ryker 25 ABR 2021 a las 11:56
@Nomad Awesome!! Will def be a tester / help in anyway i can.
Nomad  [autor] 25 ABR 2021 a las 9:14
@Ryker I'll take a look at the multiplayer issues next if I can find enough information on the client/server model on the Keen discord. I'm asking now.
Marc 24 ABR 2021 a las 14:57
This sounds like a good Idea..
Ryker 23 ABR 2021 a las 23:45
@Nomad if you need testers/troubleshooters, or anything to get the multiplayer lmk, we would love to have this work for us on our server. Currently on our server it shows the transfer of power, but not actually working.
Nomad  [autor] 23 ABR 2021 a las 12:44
@Jacko666 I can alter the power consumption but I'd like to get more feedback about what you're doing. I don't want the mod to be too overpowered etc. Why do you want it turning down?
kota 23 ABR 2021 a las 10:22
power consumption thing kinda sucks. is there a way to turn it down?
TheWonderer 22 ABR 2021 a las 15:28
I dont mean to be rude i mean it a very good thing to have the line of sight it is understandable i will have to check it out later on but what i can tell looks like it will be fun to use
Nomad  [autor] 22 ABR 2021 a las 13:20
@TheWonderer Yes the laser connections do have to be line of sight but that doesn't stop you building a network of relays to transport the signal over rough terrain or corners. Remember, this is a tool, it's up to you to come up with ingenious ideas how to use it. I've purposely not made it too OP, in order to keep it challenging to use.
TheWonderer 22 ABR 2021 a las 13:10
Not yet use this yet the only problem i can see is you need line of sight so if something goes in front i guess that would be a problem that is if i understand it right and it does need to be a line of sight other then that i would say this mod will be great
FormulaZR 22 ABR 2021 a las 9:29
I understand now - this isn't a block itself, it changes the behavior of Laser Antennas already in the game.
Nomad  [autor] 22 ABR 2021 a las 9:10
Yes the laser antenna requires a line of sight with or without this mod.
Cupcake_Unleashed 22 ABR 2021 a las 4:48
@FormulaZR

"Mind that nothing breaks the laser beam as that will temporarily sever the connection" - I'd say yes you need clear line of sight :)
FormulaZR 21 ABR 2021 a las 21:23
Does this require Line of Sight?
