Hmm... This doesn't seem like all that bad of an idea of a mod.

Actually, I wonder how well this mod idea could be if it also prevented vanilla Starbound races from being chosen when creating a character, so that, say, other mods could add in custom races, or certain vanilla races (such as Humans, but no Florans for example), resulting in, for example, character creation screens where only modded Starbound races could be created, or only Human characters could be created, or only Human and Felin characters could be created.

Perhaps you'd be interested in developing such a variation of this mod in my stead? (Or perhaps someone else could if you're too busy?)

Also If you want to make your own patches all you need to do is append the internal race name to the character creation race list. I'll make a tutorial at some point but as long as your patch loads last in the order it should work fine.

The point is to provide control over the user experience.

Some modded races are significantly less polished than others, but they might have cool villages that spawn in the universe. In vanilla an example of this would be the Mushroom People (Agaran), they are fun to stumble across but lack enough content for a good playable race.

Hey there, about to do a dump of names, but I actually really like this idea, cuz I like having control, since I'm making a small modpack for myself and friends, and a lot of the FU races are fine as NPCs, but they are a bit of a clutter on character creation!

My suggestions (oh boy) are:

Angel
Arachne
Arcanians (From Arcana)
Avali
Elithian Races
Lombax (From Lombax Revival)
FU Peglaci (or even better, Peglaci Rebirth?)
Shoggoth and Mindflayer

I know that's a few, but I figured I'd give it a shot, I think those are all the mods with options I think are definitely worth it, since you already did up Felin and Saturnians, my only other suggestion would be Thaumoth if you didn't add them in the addon.

Either way, respect what you're doing, looks like you're actually working on a feasible pack that holds together, which is awesome!

I like the idea of adding scroll function but I would make it a separate mod if I end up making it.

The idea is to remove the ability to play modded races. Its more of a utility for people who want the option to pick and choose what races show up on the character creation menu. I made it since I want to have control over which races are available to play in my mod-pack.

i mean, i dont like the clutter, but i do like seeing alot of races at once, would it be possible to have an option to "scroll" through the races instead?

This mod doesn't seem to have an actual purpose apart from clearing the clutter from your screen with mods like Frackin Universe.

And while that's cool and all, it literally has no other noteworthy function besides removing your ability to play modded races.

I uh really don't know why this exists, like Is it really that hard to just tell people to only play vanilla races? and even then you make your character before anyways.
