@beef please update it. Its an amazing shader!

@ArenMook I last updated this mod in 2021, I imagine it's not working properly in 2024 anymore without going and upating it unfortunately haha
ArenMook 22.11.2024 klo 23.57
If you're in space and the sun is on screen, you literally can't see anything but blackness. This mod is utterly unusable.
RMazer 20.1.2024 klo 14.44
This is amazing, but could you fix the way the shader changes the color of the ship, It illuminates everything making it look way brighter then it actually is.
[God of All Titties] 12.11.2023 klo 12.59
Bro Shout out to your S.T.A.L.K.E.R. work
ZEN_2255 10.11.2023 klo 22.31
If at night everything looks great, during the day it's too contrasty in the shade, literally nothing is visible.
but it's generally good for creating illustrations.
Viper 30.12.2022 klo 2.20
beef hasn't posted anything since a mere 5 days after this mod was delivered to the workshop. Pretty sure he's either dead or hasn't touched Space Engineers in 1.5 years.
Miko 2.12.2022 klo 0.56
Is V2 still in the works?
Master Chief; John-117 8.10.2022 klo 11.16
@GoodResult Same
Shmuck Bazooker 8.12.2021 klo 4.47
Well, everything is just black, i have no idea why.
AlexMoi 21.10.2021 klo 13.56
does this work with space just got real mod?... or is it better?
Viper 22.8.2021 klo 19.15
this is literally the only environment mod that seems to get eye adaptation correct, unfortunately, the contrast ratio between light and dark with this mod is too damn stark, the brights are absolutely blinding and the darks pitch black mystery holes. I just can't find a mod that does everything right at once.
User5876 2.8.2021 klo 0.17
Awesome work, man! It looks beautiful!
Xscreade 10.7.2021 klo 18.12
is it normal that the rain particle appear black in front of windows?
Abisius Xarvenius Carbensius 17.6.2021 klo 10.25
@beef
could you please take alook at the transparend lcd and if yo ucan get them to display more than just black
VikingVR 23.5.2021 klo 12.37
Nice, I'll have to give this a go without Reshade running and compare the two. Nice work from the pictures.
Mindless 23.5.2021 klo 11.19
Love this mod! This makes using lights way more effective and interesting!

my feedback:

1. I have only tried it on an earth map so far, but it does seem to over-expose during the day, this kind of distorts the colours/textures as there's not a good middle ground.
(I am using the Real Skybox as recommended)

2. The settings are only effective on 'High', turning graphics to medium makes dark parts completely black and generally hard to see. It looks great on high settings, but this presents some issues if you need to lower the graphics for performance.
Rhasmoth 22.5.2021 klo 17.26
Pretty decent stuff mate. :) Just played with a guy who was running it on his world. I'd rather not risk too much, trying it randomly... but do you have any ideas how this might affect a game while running the MorePPSettings plug-in?
Klein 22.5.2021 klo 9.37
after using this for awhile I just added some compensating lights to my ships, I love what you did here so much.
Aggressor 22.5.2021 klo 5.27
Wtf. It make game brighter not darker.

Hi Beef. Thanks for the work you put into this. I'm having some trouble getting it to work. Aside from adding the mod to my single player world, is there anything else I need to do to "activate" it?
Codo 20.5.2021 klo 6.45
I can't see shit when facing the sun it just gets super dark
Naniyori Mo Ningen 20.5.2021 klo 6.38
now you can enjoy a game that can destroy any computer with RAY TRACED LIGHTING. :selike:
ZV7EKET 20.5.2021 klo 6.26
Amazing thing tho!

Changes:
- tons of things
- But most importantly: No more Keen Peen Sheen™, the insufferable tint that makes everything look like piss!

make a fullbright mod for creative building.
Nekron910 19.5.2021 klo 12.29
beef, thx =) This shader looks great! I think, my survival world will be much better with it.
beef  [tekijä] 19.5.2021 klo 12.01
@Nekron910 a damn fine building - your design is phenomenal

@klinetek emissives would impact the ambient lighting through keen. I think I'll fork this into two mods, one which maintains the keen style lighting but improves it and one that continues on the current path but slightly more ambient so that shadows aren't so dark.

@jushdrug thanks
Klein 19.5.2021 klo 11.55
I'm not sure exactly because i havn't messed with unity shaders but I used to use the emissives from the neon lights to light my interiors as they are not counted towards the light limit on screen and performance hit is non existent but this amazing wonderful adjustment mod sort of kills the emission cast off of light and just makes them glow but it gets dark in the room.

Short story, neon lights no longer 'light' the area with the emmissives they give off. I would love to use this if you could look into a tweak that allows more emission from the neons :) they glow a lot right now but they don't actually light the area. wonderful mod either way! i love it
Nekron910 19.5.2021 klo 8.27
Hmmm... this building looks familiar =)
jushdrug 19.5.2021 klo 5.04
severe bug: loading into a world with this mod enabled and then one with it disabled causes black shapes to appear over most of the screen. needs restart to fix, likely keen bug. also noticed smoke puffs turn glowing effects black (welding, thr. flames etc)
Aggressor 18.5.2021 klo 15.21
Sorry I dint read whole description.
Aggressor 18.5.2021 klo 15.20
OMFG, OMFG cant wait to test it :D

It will work with other sky boxes ?
beef  [tekijä] 18.5.2021 klo 13.34
@mordric, should not affect performance one way or another. You may get ~1fps faster due to better HBAO settings, but that's about it.

I'm not familiar with whether it will work on servers, but it changes only environment.sbc right now, so if environment.sbc can be forced server-side then yes.

@Basil - I agree, shadows are a bit dark, trying to figure out how to make shadows good without keeping the keen-effect where rooms brighten/darken the opposite way is a challenge I have not solved yet. I may have to turn this into a plugin in order to do so.

@P_Lavv, NVG mod will get some love soon
Marc 18.5.2021 klo 13.13
Looks good, how does it affect performance? if at all?
server compatible?
Anus Cat 18.5.2021 klo 11.56
How do you make a deshader pack, tf, but nice job
Reavvr 18.5.2021 klo 11.25
Very nice
Alexia 18.5.2021 klo 8.45
a shader nice now we have finaly got up with the big bois like minecraft
Basil 18.5.2021 klo 5.51
keen looks better at day, shadows are not that dark
Nikki 18.5.2021 klo 4.36
"good enough" is the keens motto. They arent even partially interested in making this game better anymore.
geraveoyomama 18.5.2021 klo 3.12
so how would I go about getting this installed on my client and not on my server?
P_Lavv 17.5.2021 klo 19.57
Heeeey Beef! Shout out the Anomaly modding scene, love your NVG mod!

This is beautiful. Something i've been looking for for years.
[82DK] wyomingwolf 16.5.2021 klo 7.52
Really enjoying this shader/lighting mod, really gives the creeps when it goes dark and there are spiders about... Plus be warned for y'all if you go near a snowy area... bring sunglasses
beef  [tekijä] 16.5.2021 klo 7.23
@jushdrug - yeah, that's what I'm still working on for v2. Getting some amount of ambient (or global) illumination for surfaces without using keen's current environment probe ambient, which has a weird effect. For now, if you use a bright skybox, the environment reflections do help ambient, but shadows become washed out and smoke particle effects at night are too dark in comparison.

Thank you for the feedback though, hopefully I can sort out the balance for it in the next couple of days
jushdrug 16.5.2021 klo 3.52
i like this, but you shuold remember that light scatters (espeacily on brightly colored surfaces) and lights up areas not directly hit by sun light. The shadows are a bit too extreme during day.
