I recommend you download Lifemod from the Workshop and force dynamic shadows in the map and on props through the Lifemod menu if you want map shadows.

the map looks like it lacks map shadows considering there's no shadows under the trees, etc.

do you think you could do ww2 maps like omaha beach or iwo jima with nodegraphs like these?
or could make nodegraphs for the rnl maps?

Try restarting GMod and double check that HDR is actually off

Open options. Go to video options. Find the HDR pulldown. Turn it off. Apply and OK. Restart your game for good measure. Your all set
