CallsignNeitor, primarily Unsung F-8 and A-4 and A-1 and KA-3, back when I still toyed around with Arma 3. There's also an A-1 by NightIntruder. For transport and recon I used the C-1 Trader and E-2 Hawkeye, also found in Unsung. I believe the SOG PF F-4 works as well, although the Phantom never operated from Essex carriers regularly.
For Korean War action I used some of SABs planes. Note that the Bon Homme Richard still had a straight deck during Korea, this is not reflected in the mod. Good luck.
CallsignNeitor 7 Apr @ 3:21pm
hey TeTeTe! which mod u use for the planes?
GrinningYeti141 4 Feb @ 3:30pm
late seeing this, thanks!! ill mess around with it
TeTeTe3  [author] 19 Jan @ 5:16pm
I think I coded this for the experimental build: [_plane] spawn int73_cva31_fnc_startLaunch;
If you want to use it for this release, you need to somehow port it.
GrinningYeti141 18 Jan @ 3:06pm
TeTeTe3, any other info about SQF would be greatly appreciated
Mr3ENTLEY 24 Dec, 2024 @ 3:17pm
This mod is pretty cool and I recommend giving it a try!
TeTeTe3  [author] 8 Dec, 2024 @ 2:10am
Yes, but details escape me right now. You need to use SQF in the plane's init box for take-off and landing.

is there a way to get ai to take off/land from it?
NightIntruder  [author] 1 Jul, 2024 @ 1:26pm
If you ask me whether you're allowed to - yes, you don't need to seek my permission for that, lol. The aircraft carrier is static entity so without some scripting kung-fu, surely it's indestructible. Technically, the escorting ships should be sinkable, as they are floatable but can't say for sure.
Caps 1 Jul, 2024 @ 10:51am
Can i set charge on ship to blow them up while am the water?
TeTeTe3  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 5:50pm
The F-8 Crusader originating from NightIntruder was also forwarded to FireWill for a standalone version. My understanding is, that it's still in the making.
Delta-Gamma 26 Jun, 2024 @ 3:00pm
I just realized it was included in Unsung Redux. Thought it was only in the original. I might actually use it since Redux cut a lot of the unnecessary stuff. I still think its arsenal is a hassle, but the addition of the jets, artillery, and Sheridan just might get me to use it more.
NightIntruder  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 2:34pm
I didn't complete it enough for release it as standalone. I've lost interest as it had entire cockpit to animate and some other stuff was to rework, too. Actually, you encouraged me to check how UNS team have adjusted the plane and finished it. It had slightly unusual flight model with large inertia, heavy on bleeding energy in turns and had some problems with Physx brakes as well.
Delta-Gamma 26 Jun, 2024 @ 2:16pm
No worries. You wouldn't happen to still have a standalone version of your Crusader, though, would you?
NightIntruder  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 12:22pm
In that case, I can only suggest my own A1H:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2658164904
I tried to make it compatible with BHR.
The Unsung's F-8 is my addon that I hand over to them. Dunno how they adjust it to UNS/A3, tho.

PS. My apologize, I accidently deleted your comment while I was deleting my own for correction. I am really sorry.for that.
NightIntruder  [author] 26 Jun, 2024 @ 6:26am
You're right. There are ppl claiming Essex-class could fully support F-4s as several of those CVAs operated A-7s, similar in weight and deck footprint. After all, some A-3 detachments were deployed on the class, and that's even heavier airframe. Perhaps, the problem laid on wooden deck (strenght, afterburner) and bridle-type of CATs. But than, F-8s operated from the ship with no problems. Other guys claim, it could fully support F4s but there wasn't enough of space and safety margin to operate a whole squadron of Phantoms. Either way, it's just a "what-if" scenario, which I rather avoid in my addons. A matter of choices within an addon design. Whenever you choose historical addon to create, you need to decide whether you want to keep it historically correct or you go wild. You already know my attitude, I guess :)
Delta-Gamma 25 Jun, 2024 @ 10:10pm
For the record, while never assigned to the BHR, an F-4 did accidentally land on it once. It was subsequently tagged by the crew. So it could support an F-4 on its landing strip.

NightIntruder  [author] 25 Jun, 2024 @ 10:11am
@Delta-Gamma - Sorry for any inconvience, mate. The only thing I could suggest is switching to Experimental version of BHR maintained by TeTeT solely, here you can grab it: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2947456117
I haven't tested it but F4 seems to work on his version.

@SilverDiablo - I know the photo and I was also quite curious. It turned out to be a ferry cruise in 1970, likely a resupply mission of other squadrons. Both F4 and A5 have never been deployed on the BHR, and any other Essex-class aircraft carriers for that matters.
Delta-Gamma 25 Jun, 2024 @ 9:49am
Arresting system is bugged. I requested final approach and lowered the tail hook and still rocket off the deck. Request an update to fix.
SilverDiablo 20 May, 2024 @ 12:32pm
SOG F-4 can't autoland :( it does not catch the wires or they snap even when the jet is clean.
Still the carrier should be able to operate them having the same catapult and arresting gear of the Midway class (SCB-125 upgrade). there are photos of the CVA-31 with F-4Bs and even A-5 vigilante.

TeTeTe3  [author] 21 Apr, 2024 @ 1:59pm
I guess you would need to make a new geo lod then for the Essex. On the wires, try out https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2774907999
Thekingofdwarves 21 Apr, 2024 @ 10:09am
It's collision borders are weird and it doesn't have arresting cables
TeTeTe3  [author] 21 Apr, 2024 @ 1:40am
Check Sab's Naval Legends, there should be an Essex carrier.
Thekingofdwarves 20 Apr, 2024 @ 8:31pm
Is there any chance you could make a ww2 version of this without the angled deck or catapults?
TeTeTe3  [author] 10 Oct, 2023 @ 8:26am
While I haven't tested that scenario, I see no reason why not. Maybe add 1km separation at least between the static vessels. Good luck.
kubek 10 Oct, 2023 @ 8:16am
can i have the uss bon and nimitz in the same time?
R. Gonzalez 12 Jun, 2023 @ 5:26am
"merely"..?

Dude, that's sick enough! Congrats! 👏👏
TeTeTe3  [author] 17 Apr, 2023 @ 1:28pm
Rolf, try to place the carrier in the editor, start the mission, use Escape->Options->Controls->Configure Addons->CVA31 and see which keybinds are present. If not a success, feel free to join the Unsung Discord and ask me in the #cva-31_discussion channel: https://discord.gg/nRGDHJMZ
Bud Liteyear 17 Apr, 2023 @ 9:30am
Can't find the mod in "configure addon" I can drop tail hook and request landing from tower, but when I line up on the catapult, Shift \ doesn't work. I tried to check controls, but the mod doesn't show up.
TeTeTe3  [author] 18 Mar, 2023 @ 8:10am
On the autopilot, which plane were you using? I tried the Unsung A-4 and it stopped on the deck with autopilot, albeit the wires didn't really engage.
Twerk Team Commander 19 Jan, 2023 @ 1:58am
The autopilot landing seems to have a little trouble and usually overshoots the cables, does the autopilot landing work, or is manual landing the best way?
LE FELI 19 Dec, 2022 @ 7:09pm
thank u very much <3 i rlly rlly enjoy your work. thanks for this great moment :sans:
NightIntruder  [author] 19 Dec, 2022 @ 3:41pm
@LE FELI
In 3DEN: select a ship -> go to its attributes -> scroll down to the bottom and tick on the attribute responsible for hiding the wave effect (or vice versa, cannot remember which way it is, but you got the point I guess).
LE FELI 19 Dec, 2022 @ 3:25pm
great great great work my men. but how can i remove the horrible wave effect?
NightIntruder  [author] 21 Nov, 2022 @ 12:24am
I must admit that I haven't tested BHR with several airforce packs, to include Firewill one. That's because I cannot do much about any potential issues with those addons. Most common reason may be a tailhook that goes not that much below the landing gear or "tailhook" mem point that isn't animated properly as a part of the actual tailhook. The only advise from me would be to flare your plane harder before touchdown to expose the tailhook to wires more.
Trim406 20 Nov, 2022 @ 7:22pm
I'm noticing Firewill aircraft have a hard time catching the wire, tried for hours with multiple planes and mods but Firewill planes especially have a hard time.
NightIntruder  [author] 14 Aug, 2022 @ 12:10am
It was never tested in this respect, but I doub't it is compatible.
rootbandit95 13 Aug, 2022 @ 11:53pm
Is this compatible with Drongo's Air Ops?
NightIntruder  [author] 11 May, 2022 @ 5:41am
@MANANO - I replied in discussion section.
@marekmataous - F4 is from SOGPF. A-3B, A-4B, C-1A and E-1Bs are mine addons (private ones) but you can find them in Unsung - both versions I guess - as well (except for E-1B).
marekamatous 11 May, 2022 @ 2:17am
@Nightintruder please from what mod are the planes? Unsung, Unsung redux or something else? THX
MANANO 10 May, 2022 @ 8:35pm
Hi @NightIntruder, just tested the Carrier in a dedicated server with around 80 players in the server an around 10 in the Carrier, The rescue boats cause some terrible Desync, once you delete those via Zeus the carrier works beautifully, I would suggest that you delete those for better MP Performance, well done, probably one of the best addons for Arma III naval aviation. (can't wait for that F-8 tho )
NightIntruder  [author] 13 Mar, 2022 @ 3:21pm
Thanks for input @VandelayOfficial. Yeah, I didn't have a model of more apropriate for that era navy oiler like Neosho-class. But since Cimarron-class was mostly scrapped during mid 70s (4 even during 80s) I chose to use the one at hand.
@T.Ellis contact me on Bohemia forum, pls. Same name.
T.Ellis 27 Feb, 2022 @ 9:42pm
Hey Night Intruder I added you as a friend in hopes you may be able to help me with some of my road way issues on the Aircraft Carrier mod i've been trying to Maintain
kranyarssk14 26 Feb, 2022 @ 9:33pm
Never thought I'd see a mod for Il-2 ported into Arma, but i'm definitely pleased by it. Just an observation but the Kaiser-class oiler probably should be removed as its pretty anachronistic.
NightIntruder  [author] 10 Jan, 2022 @ 12:42pm
@Frosted Vert
This is not naval mod by any means. The main focus is the static aircraft carrier. It's well explained in the description of the addon.
Yo Gabba Gabba! 10 Jan, 2022 @ 12:07pm
I have been dying for a good naval mod. Hoping to see how this works with HAFM and Pook's SAMs/ASMs
NightIntruder  [author] 31 Oct, 2021 @ 2:47am
@ALL
We would like to ask you, subscribers, for testing the current version of this addon in SP and MP environments (both on local and dedicated servers). What we need is YOU to test if you can see doubled davit (one animated, one static) while operating the rescue boat (launching/recovering it). Please, report your findings on BUG REPORTS disccusion. Thanks in advance!
NightIntruder  [author] 29 Oct, 2021 @ 10:25am
@Predator14
A large mod dev team was gathering money through PayPal and donation system. They barely got money to buy a couple of beers. I am not even bother starting social funding for a better model. If you want to become a contributor and buy a new model for the addon, please contact me upfront to not buy something useless, stolen/ripped or with invalid license. I also do not accept links to alledgedly valid model, just bought somewhere.
Joric 29 Oct, 2021 @ 6:08am
@Predator14 these creators are not ur slaves if you want a new texture make ur own mod
Predator14 29 Oct, 2021 @ 3:37am
Yes I know it is difficult to have a quality aircraft carrier, my you can ask people for donations to finance a better aircraft carrier because yours is not credible because of the poor quality. Something must be done! My I understand is worth difficulty
