is this compatible with immersive beautiful universe?
RECKLE$$ 20 Jan @ 12:02pm
yeh i hear you and that is what i used to do to judge if the mod was working i also use real space. so there are plenty of binary and trinary systems i had access to and still then, the planets had the same light / dark proportions
lordfirefax 15 Jan @ 9:32am
@RECKLE$$ To check if this mod works for you, go to a ternary system (I use Real Space mod) and locate planets in the middle of the 3 stars, then inspect how much of the planet surface is in shadows. Example: I have a system with two white stars at the center, and one small red star in the border, with a planet in the middle. Without this mod, the planet had 50% of the surface in shadows in spite of having stars at both sides. With this mod however the planet has 80% of its surface reflecting light, 50% white and 30% red, and only 20% in shadows, as it should be.

I think this breaks the Toxic Star from The Toxic God Origin. CTD on upon viewing the system,.
faceboy 7 Apr, 2024 @ 9:22am
wait no way aryxcami from SE workshop makes stellaris mods too!?
RECKLE$$ 16 Feb, 2024 @ 8:59am
i really like the idea of this mod but when put it into my playlist i dont see any change. is there a load order where it should be any known conflicts. i could spend hours looking and still come up with nothing
RobotLiker9000 25 Sep, 2023 @ 9:02am
Update?
Ravin 7 Jun, 2023 @ 5:58pm
Is there a Machine Version of this?
RECKLE$$ 12 Feb, 2023 @ 8:35am
this mod doesnt seem to work for me is there anything i should be aware of that wont work with it or load order maybe
Big Sneezy 21 Nov, 2022 @ 9:19pm
I've done just as TheGrandN suggested and made a Toxoids compatible version of this mod. It's uploaded here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2891787560 . @AryxCami, Please let me know if you have any issue with this and I'll happily take down my version or add you as a contributor. Just happy to be keeping your work alive.
TheGrandN 4 Nov, 2022 @ 3:36pm
Toxoids adds a new star to the mix. That accounts for the CTD on -that- system. A quick fix:
--Add the toxoid star to the gfx/models/planets/_star_entities.asset file.
-- Add the toxoid light to the gfx/lights/star_lights.asset file.

You can find the new entries you need to add in the same folders in your Stellaris install.

If somebody wants to get enterprising, add a slight green light to it as well. (At least, I think green. Haven't seen -that- star system myself beyond the initializer! :lunar2019crylaughingpig: )
Incompatible with 3.5 & 3.6 due to the new star added in the Toxic God origin.
InternDec 24 Sep, 2022 @ 9:05pm
So far with the new "Knights of The Toxic God" Origin, the system that shows up when you find the Toxic God will CTD when you view it with this mod enabled.
Okabe Rintaro 28 Jun, 2022 @ 1:57am
Erin you idiot get off SE and update your mods smh
Big Sneezy 29 May, 2022 @ 8:38pm
I'm using this with the latest real space and system scale submod, and with starlight loaded after all Real Space mods, it is working. Checking the mod in Irony, I can see it has some different settings than Real Space, but the game seems to work alright without resolving those conflicts.
Battlespark 7 Apr, 2022 @ 9:47pm
i just started using real space again and with the system scale submod, this no longer works. Oof.
Joles 16 Mar, 2022 @ 4:59pm
I have this working with just real space but also with ACG which has also rescaled the system. Good mod. Was not paying attention to the light emitting but now as I know this mod is great to have :)
Zares 16 Mar, 2022 @ 11:03am
It doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe it's because of Real Space - System Scale submod?
TOG II* 21 Jan, 2022 @ 7:10am
I've noticed that there is a point light entity for use with black holes, but it's never used.
Is this intentional?
doctornull 14 Jan, 2022 @ 11:23am
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1860550127467194556/DECD286478586A964DF4B5EC6DD07687272F084C/?imw=1920&&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false

Let's see if this links.

IMHO black holes (with accretion disk, which is all of them I think) really should provide *some* light, even if it's not much.
RECKLE$$ 24 Dec, 2021 @ 2:50am
is there any particular load order, or do i have to start a new game, cause i ccant see any difference, all planets in trinary or binary system still get lit up from the centre of the system
Tralalero Tralala 17 Dec, 2021 @ 10:27pm
what about the rs system scale?
Wrinkle 16 Dec, 2021 @ 1:24am
can't edit that post so i have to add this. the file you're looking for is "star_lights.asset", in the lights folder. just right click on that file and open it with notepad++
Do'tasarr o Khajiit 15 Dec, 2021 @ 12:58pm
How do I make it generate light for the Gigastructural stuff?
Porter 11 Dec, 2021 @ 10:57am
Thank you
Demiurge 7 Dec, 2021 @ 11:54am
can you extend the radius of the starlight? I'm still getting black unlit planets in the outer areas with system scale
AryxCami  [author] 6 Dec, 2021 @ 10:59am
Yes
Coliver.xyz 5 Dec, 2021 @ 1:17pm
Is this compatible with the most recent patch?
Demiurge 26 Nov, 2021 @ 8:47pm
@doc yes its the accretion disk. For all intents and purposes, from the point of view of someone on a planet orbiting the hole, it would look like a sun in the sky. If it was an earth-like planet, it would be a comfortable place, as look as you don't mind the time dilation with the rest of the universe's time moving faster than your world. But that could be interesting too =P
knightfang 25 Nov, 2021 @ 9:17pm
while the Black hole itself would produce no light, the gases and particles of the accretion disk would become super heated plasma as they spiral in towards the event horizon and would actually glow quite brightly and give off a considerable amount of radiation all the way into the X-ray band.
doctornull 25 Nov, 2021 @ 7:08pm
Is it technically the accretion disc which emits light? (And the black hole itself emits Hawking radiation which is usually particles?)

Either way we only see black holes WITH accretion discs in Stellaris so the Stellaris versions should emit some light.
Demiurge 25 Nov, 2021 @ 6:11pm
@scyobi, but black holes do emit light...
Scyobi_Empire 24 Nov, 2021 @ 2:13pm
Not sure if this is possible without editing the Checksum, but is it possible to make blackholes emit no light?
Demiurge 24 Nov, 2021 @ 12:20pm
@doctornull, isn't there a falloff variable in the grfx/star_light.asset file? I believe i saw it at 0, maybe changing that will create the light falloff you desired? I don't know what the exact numbers should be though, so it would take a bit of experimenting.
𝕮𝖔𝖑𝖔𝖓𝖊𝖑 21 Nov, 2021 @ 5:11am
Does the mod affect FPS?
Demiurge 9 Nov, 2021 @ 11:22am
2voidster, yea i know, thats why i'm asking for a patch to make it work for system scale..
Silent0Death 9 Nov, 2021 @ 2:15am
Would it be possible to add the O-class from Gigastructural engineering?
Battlespark 30 Oct, 2021 @ 1:28pm
Any mod that messes with system scale will throw this mod for a loop and all your planets will be black/dark. Glad i found this, i thought my card was dying for a second haha. Ill come back to this mod in a while, it works well and looks great. just not compatible with my current build/game mod set.
Demiurge 20 Oct, 2021 @ 10:28am
will there ever be a patch for system scale because the outer planets don't receive the light
EmmyBee 6 Oct, 2021 @ 8:24pm
Will there be a compatibility patch for the O class stars from gigastructures?
Azona 25 Sep, 2021 @ 8:32pm
love this but only realy visible with multiple sun in system that far apart sadly not working with custom sun from mods it seems would be cool :) stil looks bit more natural when start emits their own light instead of center of system. also love machine shipset its my fav :)
Demiurge 22 Sep, 2021 @ 7:54am
@vic wow that is intense, that planet should be cooking lol
doctornull 19 Sep, 2021 @ 12:30pm
@AryxErin - yeah it's not fair to ask you to do all the work for other people's mods.

Is there a way for someone else to do a patch for those new stellar objects to give them compatible light to yours? Tell me where I can start with that.

@Vicinian - it would be perfect if intensity fell off proportionate to the orbital distance, so the planets of other stars got a lot less intensity from stars not their own.
Vicinian 19 Sep, 2021 @ 8:58am
Absolutely in love with this mod, but is there any chance the light intensity can be decreased? As you can see [imgur.com], the intensity can be quite ridiculous as it is now, unfortunately...
Venom 19 Sep, 2021 @ 7:06am
This mod is lovely. I used it for a few minutes, and it was beautiful, until my computer started crying out.
Seph 18 Sep, 2021 @ 1:54pm
ofc :) thank you for your work!
AryxCami  [author] 18 Sep, 2021 @ 7:46am
As long as credit is provided.

@Doctornull That's mainly because I don't have a definition for their star type and thus can't add a light to it.
Seph 18 Sep, 2021 @ 1:29am
Hey can i add your mod into my total conversion? Or is there a quick way to increase overall galaxy visuals by changing a few variables? Coz obviously you put a lot of time into experimenting what works best. Looks amazing!
Demiurge 7 Sep, 2021 @ 12:15pm
I would also like to know same things as doc
Beep 7 Sep, 2021 @ 10:56am
Dude this is amazing! :D I never knew I needed this mod so badly!
