If I redid it, they would remain memes.
LumberingTroll 18 Mar @ 12:25pm
@TurtleShroom please do, I would also appreciate if the replacement religions were a little more serious than joke memes.

Since this mod has been reported working in 1.5 I added it to the No Version Warning-mod

This Mod still works in V1.5, but it is VERY badly coded, as I demonstrated in the comment selection below. Honestly, I might update it myself to fix these problems.
VelxraTV 20 Jul, 2024 @ 7:10am
Please update for 1.5
Doomchibi 8 May, 2024 @ 4:24pm
Would this need an update for 1.5? Or is anyone able to fork it in the meantime?
fractalgem 4 May, 2024 @ 2:27pm
if i shelled out and bought the overpriced DLCS, i'd probably get this mod. the idea of a rimworld taking these meme religions SERIOUSLY enough to go to war over amuses me.
Reeday 23 Apr, 2024 @ 5:53pm
1.5?
TurtleShroom 24 Nov, 2023 @ 1:33pm
Anyway, OP, I noticed that you made a serious mistake in the way you coded this Mod.

When you replaced the Structure Memes , you added them back with the same name. However, when you replaced the Rule Packs , you changed their names.

I have discovered that if you do this, it breaks World Generation for certain Cultures added by other Mods. They are looking for something like "NamerDeityChristian" in the Culture Def , and because you replaced it with a Rule Pack Def with a different name entirely, the whole thing fails.

What you need to do to fix this is either add the new Rule Pack names as new instances, OR make sure that when you replace them, that you replace them with the same Def Name as the original.

This way, you can fix whatever problems that arise through it.

@Boss

You still can, just in the name of Samuel Streamer!

Is this mod present in any other mods? I've never installed it but for some reason my icons are the ones in here.
JoEcko 20 May, 2023 @ 4:26pm
Does anyone know the name of the non meme version of this mod? I can't seem to find it.

Only a degenerate would want to remove the crusading Christians.
MadameHardy 27 Aug, 2022 @ 12:40pm
I'm so glad for this mod. I'm creeped out by seeing names that are genuinely sacred to people mixed in with "oh, and they're all cannibals".
Delta1138 22 Aug, 2022 @ 6:43pm
@Armorguy1 see More Religious Origins mod, adds exactly what you're after (hellenic, aztec, norse, celtic religious origins and deities).
Armorguy1 20 Jul, 2022 @ 4:48am
I'm kind of surprised the default ideologies weren't like this in the first place (fantastical instead of depicting real religions). Anyway, will use it in a future run at some point. Wish there was something like this depicting ancient religions like greek or egyptian pantheons for example. Would be great for mods that add romans and greeks as factions like ancient rim for example.
Epsilion 8 Feb, 2022 @ 8:07am
Thanks, using forbidden mod and it memes with real religions felt weird
Delta1138 11 Jan, 2022 @ 9:23am
@Friedman Sure.
Profligate  [author] 11 Jan, 2022 @ 8:16am
Alpha Memes is a mod, not base game, so i'm not willing to make a patch for it.
Install the Cherry Picker mod or delete the files from your copy of the Alpha Memes mod.
Delta1138 11 Jan, 2022 @ 4:58am
@Friedman, could you add a patch to replace the real religions added by VE Alpha memes? Think it adds Juadaism, Sikhism and some others.
Alex 4 Nov, 2021 @ 11:44am
so is the the mod that allows u to make a colonist the deity of cult of dale? and if so how?
JACK 16 Sep, 2021 @ 2:13am
thank you so much, I know at least one of them uses the real names of the gods which felt pretty weird to say the least
eighmy_lupin 2 Sep, 2021 @ 7:20pm
Awesome, I edited the patch.xml like you said and now I have Elder Scroll and Fable gods in my game. Thanks
Mythophile 24 Aug, 2021 @ 12:11pm
Thank you, I've been waiting for someone to take the realism out of my silly fantasy game.
Tsornin 23 Aug, 2021 @ 2:31pm
Thank you, that helps a ton!!
Profligate  [author] 23 Aug, 2021 @ 6:19am
You can go to your steam install location, then to steamapps\workshop\content\294100\2553766942, which is the path this mod is stored at once installed.
Once you're there, go into 1.3, patches and edit the Patches.xml. While it's not commented, it should be readable and easy to edit.
I recommend you make a local copy by copy/pasting it into steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods, and edit that.
Tsornin 22 Aug, 2021 @ 10:27pm
Thanks! For whatever reason, the real religion names break immersion for me. Is there a way for me to alter the religion names to something of my choosing (in the files maybe)?
assistant Frost, Science team 19 Aug, 2021 @ 11:38am
@big pp the reason its in is the idea that rimworld is set in our future, and that the reason the religions exist is that its supposed to be warped out of recognition, our history shows that religions and ideologies change and morph, its not unreasonable for them to survive into the far future.
assistant Frost, Science team 19 Aug, 2021 @ 11:36am
i get why this was made, but having christian cannibals that believe women are superior will always be funny.
Roque the Rogue 18 Aug, 2021 @ 5:40pm
Mr Streamer also found a bunch of tree worshipping woman hater gamers, I swear I almost died of laughter.. this is perfect my SCP Dr.Wondertainment Mod Collection

This comment is to commemorate the day Mr. Samuel Streamer first encountered a raider whose god was Mr. Streamer. It was incredible

You had me until the "Memes" part.
wutville resident 2 Aug, 2021 @ 5:31am
ok
Space Monkey 1 Aug, 2021 @ 7:09pm
Honestly this mod is something I was looking for, I don't feel like real world religions are really needed in a sci-fi fantasy game. It's limited my interest in buying the new expansion. Fight me.

I like how we went from:
Mod that adds real world religions>Real world religions getting added to base game>mod that removes real world religions.

The circle of life.
Autumn 27 Jul, 2021 @ 4:40pm
@Reianor There are religions based on things other than calm and humility. There are atheists who believe in calm and humility. Polytheists believe in what they believe in just as strongly as you believe in whatever it is you believe in, regardless of how fictional it may look to you. Atheists believe in atheism for the same reason you believe in whatever you believe in, which is just believing that said beliefs are reality.

I fully get that religion is a huge part of any faithful person's life, but other people form their beliefs in a religion or lack thereof for reasons that have nothing to do with your religion. People don't become atheists and polytheists for entertainment they wouldn't get under monotheism, they do it because they believe that instead of monotheism. Good or bad, that's just how it is.
Lil' Lily 27 Jul, 2021 @ 9:39am
Newsflash - if you're complaining about people (potentially) complaining about real religions being misrepresented in game, then you're as snowflakey as the snowflakes you're complaining about.
