I wanted to see if I could get permission to create my own mod that will do something similar. I know there's not much activity here, but let me know if I am not allowed, since otherwise I will assume it's ok (Since this mod seems abandoned, and I can't reach you on the discord)
Saulron Goodman 21 Apr, 2024 @ 2:37am
As of 1.5, this mod no longer works. The last comment on this is two years ago. I'm sure this mod is dead, but I would like to know if anyone is adverse to forking, continuing, or making a mod of their own to achieve the same result?
viniaragon 7 Nov, 2022 @ 6:20pm
ok for those who don't know you have to have a bed to carry the pawn that was blinded otherwise the ritual doesn't continue and the blinded pawn bleeds to death
yeomeny 4 Nov, 2022 @ 5:06pm
i mean for you it works i guess, but for me it doesnt. the ritual just goes on til the one getting their eyes get cut just bleeds out and in which the riutal ends and they would get the buff. Though take this with a grain of salt, I was using Vanilla Expanded Core and it seems VEC gives a lot of bugs to a whole bunch of mods so it probably caused that bug

Love this mod, makes Blindsight very fun to play with. For anyone wondering, It does still work with the 1.4 Patch.
Javier Milei 23 Oct, 2022 @ 9:43pm
1.4 update coming?
brucethemoose 7 Oct, 2022 @ 10:27pm
1.4?
mikuroshi 15 Aug, 2022 @ 4:17am
@Bree I think that's like up to random chance depending on the quality of the ritual. Try saving before the ritual finishes and reload until you get the result you want. Something like that anyways
Bree 7 Aug, 2022 @ 10:17am
Is there any way to give them spirit sight without giving a psylevel? I did a ritual blinding, they didn't get the hediff and I don't want them to be a psycaster but I want them to have the spirit sight buff
mikuroshi 5 Aug, 2022 @ 7:08pm
It still works, only problem is I don't think it covers pawns that spawn in blinded
ProfessorCookie 5 Jul, 2022 @ 2:24pm
Hey, does this mod still work?
Chad Yu  [author] 19 Aug, 2021 @ 6:21am
sorry guys, being busy with work
@Richard Mc NutBustery you can always lower the stats in XML file in the mod folder 2554648023 in your rimworld workshop folder. each level of buff has its own percent. keep in mind that the values should be lowered by one so to have sight of 150, the buff should have value of 149
@Eyeless I was unable to find code that assigns those modifiers, I still looking into them but no success yet, I would love to fix that but currently can't
@falconbird85 mods that add those parts are using modifier that sets a cap on the stat that is treated with more priority that my stat overwrite. I still looking into that but since I am in the middle of my rimworld playthrough, I don't make changes to the mod to not bork my save
falconbird85 18 Aug, 2021 @ 12:55pm
Not sure, but could you link the buff to having 0% sight? as most of the mods that add non-working eye replacements still don't return your base sight %, like golden eyes or eye patches. otherwise loving the mod!
Richard Mc Nutbuster 14 Aug, 2021 @ 8:21am
actually, it seems broken no matter what with C, it gives my pawns an insanely high shooting accuracy even if brought to normal levels, guess CE checks if pawns have eyes in someway and its breaking?
Richard Mc Nutbuster 14 Aug, 2021 @ 7:12am
also, are mod options coming soon? i kinda need the sight to be a lower stat as its breaking CE's aiming accuracy stat to a -21billion number
Eyeless 6 Aug, 2021 @ 4:10am
Small suggestion. Currently, blind pawns still get negative modifiers for darkness. So in 0 light they still have 80% movespeed and global workspeed modifier. Can you make it that blind pawns or pawns with your new spirit sight status don't get affected by it?
Richard Mc Nutbuster 4 Aug, 2021 @ 2:43pm
actually, i just noticed, i have combat extended, which has lately put in a night vision stat, would you consider making spirit sight give night vision? its a bit weird for me to have to wear night vision goggles if i cant "see" LOL
Chad Yu  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 11:50am
@Richard Mc NutBustery glad its fixed
Chad Yu  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 11:49am
@Meridia the issue is that implants give you bodypart eye back and well, my code checks if there are bodyparts that are considered by game as eye, my buff gets removed. currently I have no idea how to only tie buff removal to getting actual eyes. it is either limitation of the game or my skill in c# coding or both
Reeber 3 Aug, 2021 @ 10:36am
@Chad Yu Oh, sorry, didn't even realize that they're from EPOE and not vanilla.
Richard Mc Nutbuster 3 Aug, 2021 @ 10:34am
yup, it is confirmed working, thanks.
Richard Mc Nutbuster 3 Aug, 2021 @ 7:18am
sure, ima start up my pc in a bit i'll let you know
Chad Yu  [author] 3 Aug, 2021 @ 6:22am
@Richard Mc NutBustery new update should have fixed the issue. apparently hearing the trees is not enough for pawns to know that they are near trees.
anyway, pawns with buff should now be aware of trees and skulls on pikes
if the fix is working, the debuff should be removed from pawns needs tab, let me know if that is the case
Richard Mc Nutbuster 1 Aug, 2021 @ 3:08am
so, whenever they are blinded (missing eyes, even IF they have spirit sight) theh start complaining about "not seeing trees in a while" lol
Chad Yu  [author] 1 Aug, 2021 @ 2:13am
@Richard Mc NutBustery is that related to the tree precept? are they fine with not seeing trees if they are fully blind? i haven't touched that precept at all so have no idea the interactions precepts have between them
Richard Mc Nutbuster 1 Aug, 2021 @ 1:54am
i just noticed my blind pawns complain about not seeing their trees LOL, atleast this mod makes em shoot right
Chad Yu  [author] 1 Aug, 2021 @ 1:20am
@Meridia are those two added by a mod? I can't seem to find any mentions of those in vanilla game files

@0 Internet there is a 50% chance to get the buff if the result or ritual is satisfying or spectacular. just checked it with royalty disabled and it is given to pawns with around 50% chance(got 8 pawns, 3 of them got the buff)

@The Blind One the buff already increases in level if pawn gets psylink levels to combat RNG and chances of increase are pretty good in my opinion for the stats that the buff gives.
The Blind One 31 Jul, 2021 @ 11:37pm
Something like every day at 0 hours you get your focus % added as bonus points for that day, lets say you had 50% focus every day on average for a month. With 15 days at 50 points per day of the month it means you had 750 bonus points saved up from a total maximum possible of 1500. So then when you are at level 2 spirit sight you'd normally have 25% chance of getting the 3rd buff in the third quadrum. However because you had 750 bonus points, or 50% average focus for that month, you get 25% base chance + 50% due to your constant spirit focus giving you a 75% chance for the third buff. This means keeping focus maxed out will guarantee the buff but at a price of having to make that pawn constantly meditate.
The Blind One 31 Jul, 2021 @ 11:10pm
Can I propose an interesting feature addition?

"If pawn has the buff for a quadrum, the buff level may increase. The chance of buff level increasing is a following formula:
50%x(1/Buff level) so after one quadrum of having buff, the chance of increase from level 1 to 2 will be 50%; 25% from level 2 to 3 etc"

instead of it being RNG like this, wouldn't it be more interesting if the pawn had to constantly keep up his focus level to increase the chance of receiving the buff? As such having a 50% focus for example would add a 50% additive chance to getting the next spirit sight buff. This would make maintaining constant meditation and effort to keep 'connected' to the spirit world the most important factor in determining whether you get the buff or not. I think a mechanic that keeps track of the focus built up over the month could be used to mimic this.
SoupSquared 31 Jul, 2021 @ 2:18pm
My pawns seem to either not get it or get it after a long time also I don't have royalty so could it be because of that?
SoupSquared 31 Jul, 2021 @ 2:16pm
Is the buff guaranteed to happen after being blinded or is it a chance and if it is guaranteed how long should it take to get the buff?
Reeber 31 Jul, 2021 @ 7:12am
Can you fix it so that having eyepatch or golden eyes doesn't remove the buff?
Chad Yu  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 3:08pm
@and3212 updated the code. for my game both without extra mods and with my huge modlist, blindfolds should not be equipable by pawns without eyes. if you have mod that changes that, then that is a mod conflict and I would need a mod name and a time to learn how to create compatibility patches)
and3212 29 Jul, 2021 @ 2:27pm
Thank you for this mod - a bug I have found is that blindfolds will cap your pawn's Sight at 20% no matter what their spirit level is
Chad Yu  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 9:55am
Updated the mod so now the buff has a progression regardless if you have psylink or not.

If pawn has the buff for a quadrum, the buff level may increase. The chance of buff level increasing is a following formula:
50%x(1/Buff level) so after one quadrum of having buff, the chance of increase from level 1 to 2 will be 50%; 25% from level 2 to 3 etc
Chad Yu  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 3:55am
@Eggnog should not throw errors anymore. the mod was working but did not apply mood buff and social thoughts about blinded colonists. should be fine now
Eggnog 28 Jul, 2021 @ 12:36pm
thank you, that was my suspection as well.
Chad Yu  [author] 28 Jul, 2021 @ 12:31pm
@Eggnog looks like devs either updated the code for some stuff or another mod changes it. Will take a look at it
Eggnog 28 Jul, 2021 @ 12:23pm
Thank you for this amazing mod, the most recent update just pushed out a couple hours ago seems to have broken this mod. https://gist.github.com/9d010f7687e700b943db2f185b5d2c55
