I'm still playing WH2 thanks for the update!

Dear all,
I was finally able to release the updated version of this mod for TW W3.
Armoured Maneaters

More ogre mods will come, too!
Fröb  [author] 15 Apr, 2022 @ 7:57am
Updated! - I changed those horrible unit cards which I created myself to some new high-quality ones.
Trando🐺 5 Apr, 2022 @ 12:24pm
No problem, I wish you the best of luck regarding your real life issues and hope to see your fantastic work sooner then later. <3
Fröb  [author] 5 Apr, 2022 @ 11:07am
@Trando: I am glad to hear that you anticipate my mod so much. But I am having a hard time currently due to real life stuff and financial issues. Also, there are many new nice assets in TW W3. So, i will most probably develope new ideas and overhaul some more ogre units. But at the moment I am not sure when I will find the time and inspiration to do so...
Trando🐺 5 Apr, 2022 @ 10:58am
Steam workshop just got released for warhammer 3, will this amazing mod come to the third game soon? :3
Trando🐺 13 Feb, 2022 @ 12:00pm
Well you will have the ogre kingdoms as a faction so having this one for the recruitable ogre maneaters would be awesome
Fröb  [author] 13 Feb, 2022 @ 6:11am
@Trando: My plan is to port the majority of my mods to TW W3 - especially the popular ones. So, this one will definitely be included. But so far I have seen no ogre camp mechanic in the live streams which I watched. So, I will have to figure this out first and then decide how I will proceed with my ogre mods.
Trando🐺 13 Feb, 2022 @ 6:00am
First of all, I love this mod a lot. I hated the look of the maneaters and never recruited them so this made them finally recruitable. But now I ask myself if you will bring this wonderful mod to Total War Warhammer 3.
Jon 17 Dec, 2021 @ 12:26pm
Sweet!
TsunamiWombat 24 Sep, 2021 @ 10:39am
Oh. Well I appreciate your honesty and respect your artistic additions to the community. However, I must stand firm against the war on floppy hats and tight tights.
Fröb  [author] 23 Sep, 2021 @ 9:26am
@TsunamiWombat: To be honest, no I did not. :D
TsunamiWombat 23 Sep, 2021 @ 9:08am
They are literally *supposed* to look like that, you've looked at Ogre artwork i'm sure
Fröb  [author] 3 Sep, 2021 @ 11:14am
Theoretically yes. But of course this would be an extreme amount of work.
Akumaking1 3 Sep, 2021 @ 10:26am
Is it possible to create more Maneater skins based on which faction recruits them?
RexJayden 23 Aug, 2021 @ 7:00am
Thank you, Frob! :Monokuma2_DGR:
Fröb  [author] 23 Aug, 2021 @ 6:43am
You CAN use both mods at once, yes.
RexJayden 22 Aug, 2021 @ 4:41pm
If we use the Elite Ogre Mercenaries Mod (excellent mod BTW), do we still use this one as well? Thank you! :Monokuma2_DGR:
Fröb  [author] 22 Aug, 2021 @ 3:23am
Dear all,
finally I was able to release my standalone Elite Ogre Mercenaries mod!
Homicidalnutloaf 8 Aug, 2021 @ 10:20am
ya know im kinda surprised no one made a shrek ogre mod for greenskins or something yet .-.
thorondragon 5 Aug, 2021 @ 4:57am
though i will say that the 'empire' maneater were basically the variant with the big heavy weapons and armor shown here.
thorondragon 2 Aug, 2021 @ 1:27pm
they look like pirates because man eaters dress in ridiuclous ways depending on what kinda fighting style and civlization they spent the most time with and learned their tactics. There were even models in tabletop that were freaking Ninjas.
Fresh Prince of Solaire 2 Aug, 2021 @ 11:07am
On the armor the best compromise I could see is making it chainmail or a chest plate "texture" over the bare chest; but as you mentioned it'd probably look weird and out of place
Cooked 1 Aug, 2021 @ 4:23am
Damn, that's unfortunate
Fröb  [author] 1 Aug, 2021 @ 1:24am
@Cooked: Unfortunately there are currently no ingame assets that would allow an easy addition of chest armor. Besides, due to their animations a potential chest armor would cause lots of clipping.
Cooked 1 Aug, 2021 @ 12:19am
Awesome mod, is there a way to add more amour to their chest?
Talos 31 Jul, 2021 @ 10:49am
Thank you for taking the time to answer! I can just imagine what a mountain of work that is, but the modding community is full of some crazy and devoted people haha
Fröb  [author] 31 Jul, 2021 @ 9:48am
Hm, yes... now that you say it it I have to rethink my statement. Somehow i forgot about these mods. But I myself don't know how to do it.

And as I said... unique graphics for each race would be whole lot of work. :P
Talos 31 Jul, 2021 @ 9:32am
Thank you for the answer though, I still didn't know if it would be possible for ogres since they're a bit more "unique" in the fact that they're the only actual mercenary unit in the game
Talos 31 Jul, 2021 @ 9:31am
I meant on the race in general as a whole, but I also DO know of skin mods that have unique looks for units depending on the specific faction that recruits them as well, I'm sure even you know that there's a good bunch of mods that make mousillon's undead units look more "bretonnian", and I know one other that gives all empire factions their own unique looks for each unit
Fröb  [author] 31 Jul, 2021 @ 9:29am
I think you would need to create a unique ogre unit for each faction in this case. As far as I know there is no way to change the looks of a unit depending on the faction which recruited the unit.

Besides, creating the looks of the units alone would be an EXTREME amount of work. I really doubt that we will see a mod like this...
Talos 31 Jul, 2021 @ 9:12am
would it be possible in theory to make the ogres use thematic skins depending on which race has hired them?

Like for example if they are in an empire lord's army they have those funny big hats and carry imperial sigils and the heater shield as an armguard or something or if they are fighting for the lizardmen they are adorned with lizardmen gold regalia etc.

If the answer is yes then I'm really surprised nobody's started a mod like that yet, it would definitely make things much more thematic
Fröb  [author] 31 Jul, 2021 @ 9:00am
As mentioned before, I am currently working on a standalone mod with 3 ogre units that will use these assets. It will also contain a script, but instead of the ogre camps it will be a periodic event that triggers their recruitment to enable the maximum compatibility.
Sergej 31 Jul, 2021 @ 8:51am
Truth be told i prefer the original "Pirate" style for the pistoliers, but the 2-haneders should be like these boys. These models have to be used! Great job on them. I know these are intended just to be a graphic mod but making a separate mod with 90 armor 2-handers and maybe adding a dual wield anti-infantry armored variant would be nice.
It would add a little variety as in lore these guys could look anything from pirates, to ninjas to tribal.
Snek managed to somehow add Leadbelchers to the camps through mixus unlocker. He is working on a separate add in script atm to make adding units to the camps easier.
龙年大吉 30 Jul, 2021 @ 9:59pm
看起来不错:steamthumbsup:
Talos 30 Jul, 2021 @ 6:05pm
wow I just realized someone made the exact same joke like me in the exact same manner

I am unoriginal aaaaa
Talos 30 Jul, 2021 @ 6:04pm
"Even in the Warhammer universe there are no ships that could transport dozens of them"
Black arks: "am I a joke to you"

... Just wait till you find out about tzeentch's flying ships
Kage 30 Jul, 2021 @ 4:54pm
Actually in the lore they very much were pirates and stuff. If you check some of the table top models a lot of what they have is crazy looking lol
GloriouSin♪ 30 Jul, 2021 @ 10:58am
The preffered enviorement of an ogre is food.
Trust me, i know. :D

But yeah most races in WH are not CRAZY (pun intended) about the sea.
Although Ogres did find out that protecting wealthy, preferably Halfing, merchants and any job involving the unlawful seizing of someones property is generally the easiest way to find yourself in the secret food enviorement.

An army of a LEGENDARY LORD is generally NOT the enviorement OGres prefer so we are well beyond that point ;p well although... Grom...
It would be very lore-wise to allow Grom to JUST RECRUIT OGRES whenever and however much he wants. He does not like them though. For the same reason fat people don't like other fat people near the food table at a wedding.
Fröb  [author] 30 Jul, 2021 @ 10:49am
Ah, no worries. :D I don't know much about ships and you are probably right! :P

Still, i heavily doubt that the preferred environment for an ogre is the sea!
GloriouSin♪ 30 Jul, 2021 @ 10:45am
Yeah Carracs the most basic and cheap of medieval transport ships could take a milion kilos of cargo (1kT) and several troops still but god forbid it could take like 12 ogres aboard ;p
It's like people claiming a 1h sword is like 7kg and short swords existed (Cinquedea does not count, for the same reason all others don't, it's a mark of office not a weapon. It's a last resort weapon but so is a chair we need to draw the line somewhere.)
Wood ships are sturdier than you think.

I got nothing against the mod, love it, you done a great work. Gonna use it myself cos i like armored big fat boyz. Like me. It surely took a lot of effort and thank you.
But don't use misguided reasoning. You just don't like how they looked and THAT IS FINE no one can argue about taste it's dumb and pointless.
And gonna give you a shiny so you are not mad at me all that much for a bad comment ;p
just helping, in a condescending annoying way fitting an unsocial intellectual. Sorry.
Athinol 30 Jul, 2021 @ 7:24am
It would be great if you could make a version to apply only to the great weapon ones, leaving the pistol maneaters with their pirate look.
ADHDoug 29 Jul, 2021 @ 11:13pm
Looks fantastic mate, my only reason for not using it is I'm using a mod that adds the pirate ogres to Sartosa and it'd thematically clash. I see you're working them into standalone units though, very excited, will keep an eye out.
Fröb  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 11:05pm
@saberex: My statement with the "one or two ogres" was not a serious one. :D
saberex 29 Jul, 2021 @ 1:57pm
black arks are city sized they can handle armies on them rakarth in the campaign keeps large amounts of monsters on one
Fröb  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 11:28am
Since some people requested standalone units instead of a reskin of the maneaters - I will most probably publish a new mod with 3 standalone ogre units within the next days. The units are 95 % finished so far but the integration into the campaign is complicated. So, this will take a bit more time.
Fresh Prince of Solaire 29 Jul, 2021 @ 4:20am
I think my favorite part of this mod is I feel this look is more cohesive for more of the factions. The original look works best for the human factions and vampirates, and to me at least looks weird with the rest. I especially like how they look alongside the greenskins, so thanks for making them look better overall; though part of me does miss the OG look for the empire and vampirates, haha
Fröb  [author] 29 Jul, 2021 @ 12:31am
Ok, i get it - Black Arks are really big and might be able to handle one or two ogres. :P Still, I strongly doubt that an ogre would spend his life on sea.
saberex 28 Jul, 2021 @ 4:59pm
"no ship could carry dozens of them" Black arks - "am i a joke to you?"
Mars 28 Jul, 2021 @ 12:19pm
@Fröb yeah the triangular one
