I do not recall the distance from which it is hard to hear. You would have to try it for yourself in coop or something. May hear it from 100m but it is most audible under 100m. It triggers the sound at the location of the headshot, unfortunately, no more I can mod but bow then engine is already programmed; So the further away, the quieter it will be. You will hear teammates getting headshot very clearly if within 100 meters. If spectating first person, you will always audibly hear it; Playing as yourself you will always audibly hear that as well. You will hear it often enough in the game to give an immersive experience. The sound of skill or luck. :)
