Report a translation problem
The issue is specific to the calamity summons that place a minion above your head and limit you to one of that particular minion. EG: Deathstare Rod, Sun Spirit Staff, the various Blossom Staffs, etc.
Friend and I were shimmering stuff to get the permanent buffs. I threw a stack of gold worms into shimmer. Next I knew was this:

We're playing on a dedicated server that I host on my pc. Friend joins via my IP, and I connect as localhost.
It also duplicates a sentry when I place something, sometimes, like paintings.
Another oddity we noticed is that the pet panel UI is duplicated, and only one of them works. (Not really visible in the screenshot, as there they're still one on top of the other - they can be dragged apart.)

Something's still odd.
My weapon from slot 1 is still there (in the bottom line), but my shiny new drill and my stack of torches are gone.
I was going back and forth on a cart rail in cavern Hallow, letting my minions beat up stuff in hope of a Rod of Discord. I was drilling crystals while I was there anyway.
Then I noticed that it was no longer drilling at all, checked, and found this. Hm...
I did notice the other day that placing a painting landed me a sentry on the mouse, must have clicked the moment it was summoning? (Placing without autopause, from the mouse, not the hotbar.)
I was not using smartcursor this time, just autoselect (drill) and moving the mouse from crystal to crystal without letting go.
All's fine now, I bought new ones, and researched them just in case. :)
The two old one's army sentries I had there had disappeared after the game start today.
Weird that this only started after the last monthly tmodloader update (or the following hotfix - I wasn't playing in the day in between).
- Fixed issue with items being replaced if you used them while mod tried to summon.
- AKA Mod will no longer summon while using an item, so constantly swinging will prevent summoning.
- Special thanks to Mickmane for reporting the issue with reproduction steps.
Steps:
- select any item on hotbar (that you don't mind losing - it'll be replaced)
- hold autoselect (to get the pickaxe)
- hold smartcursor
- click (with active pickaxe)
- let go of autoselect and smartcursor keys
- dig a bit
- let go of mouse key (which was steering the pickaxe)
-> Find pickaxe in the hotbar slot (whatever was there is lost now)
-> Find sentry in the inventory slot where the pickaxe used to be.
My Smartcursor mode is hold.
I have vanilla ballista and fireburst sentries in the sentry summon slots.
I do not use calamity, and tried this with JUST this mod enabled, and duplicated the effect.
Wasn't there something odd about autoselect and the last tmodloader update? I wasn't playing that day, just saw comments.

When I move around, it summons 2 different ones. And spawning on the world, it does, too.
I got rid of "infinite minions" (wanting to make it not too easy), and instead put 2 sentries into the UI. But it only ever summons the first one. How do I make it summon one of each?

It would be fantastic if the mod saved summon window position to a file so that it retains the position across sessions. First time opening it each session, it's halfway behind inventory.

I have another issue, when I save and exit with the Summon Panel open, it is still in the game when I load the save again, and there's another for actually using it when I open the summon/pet UI.
I can only get rid of extra Summon Panel when I restart the game.

Um, putting a houndius shootius into the sentry slot, it keeps adding it, counting up to 'infinite' (20001). Maybe that needs a little tweaking. :))
