I'm looking for a mod that would inform about soldiers squad in every soldiers list, not only a few.
Hoped this one would solve this issue.
Thank you, mate
So you don't create Script\ModName.u yourself? Okay.
Yep, I saw that those 3 cfg files were about supporting mods, changed all of them, and replaced your mod's name with mine in 3 other.
Okay, and what with Src\ModName\Classes and .uc file there? You don't create all of that too? Just 6 cfg files, .upk and useless Localization/XComGame.int?
This is what I basically did initially when experimenting with the Robojumper's mod. Open up his mod package, add the images in the correct format and under correct category and then add the new paths in the config file. You might want to join the XCOM modding discord and ask questions there — it's a much better platform for discussion and feedback.
I basically just tried to copy-paste this mod with my own images (and changed config files ofc), but wasn't able to build solution, it fails everytime.
Also I don't know the purpose of SquadPatches.u and don't know what program opens it (couldn't open it with Unreal Editor or Notepad). Something tells me it's critical:)
I used Robojumper's squad icon mod as an example to learn how to do it and test it in the game before making my own mod which wasn't all that hard either (there are very comprehensive modding guides on the XCOM modding subreddit available.) Honestly, the part that gave me the most trouble was uploading and updating the mod on Steam. If you've never dabbled in modding before, I suggest you look up some written and video guides online first, but adding images like these into the game is not hard at all.
Man, can you please tell how to make such a mod? I couldn't find much info in the net except for that it must be .tga 256x256 images. I would be grateful if you told me something more.

here's the combine empire's main symbol itself:

and the one used by combine elite soldiers (a smaller high-ranking caste rather than the whole army):

No worries if not!
@Fox Holday @Hudson Savage thanks a lot for confirming it works with the standalone squad manager!
As for long term effects got no clue as I just installed this mod.
