I must say that I have never encountered it. I've constantly updated my maps with small changes and everything's always worked fine. Better do a search on what could cause it.

I tried to do so, but it said there was an error when I tried uploading with the same name. Is this not a common problem? I am really upset about it.

You should just update the original map (use the workshop submit as normal) instead of making new submissions with the updates, that way people won't have to resub every time you update. That way they also can see that the map is updated in the sub-list.
