My brother in [insert supreme being], I am simply asking if you would consider making the spear unit names have no indication that they are spear units, for the sake of immersion, because in real life the spear was the standard weapon, so when you talked about infantry you did not have to specify like ceorlfolk mid sperum you would simply say ceorlfolk because it was automatically assumed that they were mid sperum, but if they were a different sort of ceorlfolk then you would specify ceorlfolk mid what

@Yews - from the historical point of view you are right and that's why we have a limited choice of real unit names in the ancient Northeuropean languages. Most players like variety and even calling for more and more. As a result, historical games are ahistorical in this respect. There was never a Viking or Saxon sword infantry and so on. On the other hand, I have to consider the game templates. I just played Mercia to a short victory and was satisfied with the work, but made minor updates, which I released today. Cheers!

You've missed my point 😭
Anisvara  [author] 1 Jun @ 12:53am
@Yews, there are 4 different armed Ceorlfolcs in the localisation.
@Dawnstar, I was some years out of game, the game is working still fine. At the moment I do not want to update, I have to get common with all the features again.
@OBSERVER - I too
@Oliphant - many thanks. It was huge amount of work. I do not know how I managed the mod at that time. Now, my time is limited to some hours playing each week. Beside, I am working on existing but not official published mods.

Shouldn’t ceorlfolk mid sperum be simply ceorlfolk, and so on, across all the cultures in the entire game? Because the spear was the standard arms, so back in 878 if you said just ‘ceorlfolk’ with no elaboration, they’d picture a bloke with a spear?
Dawnstar 6 Feb @ 9:48am
Update just so that funny yellow triangle is removed?

Love the Anglo-Saxon language.
Oliphant 6 Oct, 2023 @ 10:46pm
This is a must have mod. Perhaps consider making a version that includes Radious units?
Anisvara  [author] 26 Jun, 2023 @ 9:40am
@jstuartgibbons, sorry for the late reply. There are limits if you don't touch the startposition. Touching the startposition causes problems. Only text is changed. I think the texts are correct.
jstuartgibbons 22 Jun, 2023 @ 12:55pm
have you changed Cornwall to be referred to as Brythonic and not welsh?
British, yep,
welsh, not quite,
english, nope
Cornish, absolutely right

@Anisvara I sent you a friend request to discuss this further, as I have access to people who may have the knowledge regarding this. We can discuss it further in private if you are in agreement.
Anisvara  [author] 28 Aug, 2022 @ 10:02am
@eoincaomhanach - you are right. But Wiki is no source at all !!! But sometimes you cannot avoid to use stuff from Wiki. The sources are linked at the bottom. Bot most are not online available. So you have to trust if you cannot find another source.
eoincaomhanach 28 Aug, 2022 @ 5:54am
you are better off NOT using Wikipedia because it is not a reliable source for anything.
Anisvara  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 2:07am
@Kaniala913 - first I missunderstood, sorry. You meaned a rename only. The mod shall be as accurate as possible. And I am shure I did not got all, but I got better with any campaign I played. But all should be careful. Wiki mess up often old with modern language and has many faults, even the welsh version. :steamhappy: If possible I use better sources. The Gwined stuff is from the leading welsh dictionary covering also a lot of middle welsh with sources.
Kaniala913 26 Mar, 2022 @ 1:00am
Thank you so much!
Anisvara  [author] 25 Mar, 2022 @ 4:27am
@Kaniala913 - Dyved seems to be correct. So it is called in the cronicles. The Gwentian Chronicle records that "Arthen king of the Ceredigiawn, Rhydderch king of Dyved, and Cadell king of Teyrnllwg now called Powys" died in 804./
9g. Nennius: Hist Brit 181, ad regionem, quae vocatur Guined.
13g. C 462-3, Gogywarch de gwinet boed tev wyant.
Guined is latin, CA ex changed ui with w, see the 13 centenary source Gwinet. :Saxon:
Anisvara  [author] 25 Mar, 2022 @ 3:50am
@Kaniala913 - The CA construction Gwined is the most accurate possible construction, I changed back to Gwined after deep check. But with Seisyllwg you are right. I forgot to check !!!
Dyfet / Dewet I an checking again. I forgot what I did. Many thanks for feedback, like the new name Seisyllwg.
Kaniala913 25 Mar, 2022 @ 12:52am
Thank you
Kaniala913 25 Mar, 2022 @ 12:51am
You changed the names for other starting factions like Ystrad Clud, Jórvík, & Guðþormrs Ríkit as well as non-playables like Norþanhymbra Ríce and Mumu, why can't the three Welsh Kingdoms listed be changed too? Gwynedd, Seisyllwg and Dyfed are more historically accurate than what they are currently spelled as. I understand that this mod is still being worked on but please take these names into consideration.
Anisvara  [author] 23 Mar, 2022 @ 3:44am
@Kaniala913 - many thanks. I see no basic faults in the startposition (some stuff is historical not clear as Region Circenn, who controlled it?). The starting factions change the names, as Circenn to Alba, when owning specific regions. There are many renames.
Gwined, Seisilwig, and Dewet are different starting factions, right? This mod do not have influence on any game mechanics. If you unite the welsh regions you will get a kingdom name.
Kaniala913 23 Mar, 2022 @ 2:19am
Also, as a suggestion...maybe change Circenn to Alba? Technically Circinn/Circenn is just the name of the area you start in and not really the Kingdom's name. Again, thank you so much for this amazing mod!
Kaniala913 23 Mar, 2022 @ 2:05am
Would it be possible to change the Welsh Kingdoms of Gwined, Seisilwig, and Dewet to Gwynedd, Seisyllwg and Dyfed? All the others are good, nice job!!
Anisvara  [author] 1 Mar, 2022 @ 8:55am
@tonuptone - many thanks the mod do not change the game mechanics. I am using additional a private bugfix and overhaul, I reballanced some buildings.
tonuptone 1 Mar, 2022 @ 5:16am
Sounds interesting, and you have the honour of being the first Mod I ever tried.
Warriordude 16 Nov, 2021 @ 12:18pm
Ok thanks.
Anisvara  [author] 15 Nov, 2021 @ 2:17pm
To use this mod for shieldwall would be irritating, cause some units are assigned in a different way (to other factions or as mercs). Furtheron there are some selfmade units in Shieldwall, uncovered by this mod.
Anisvara  [author] 15 Nov, 2021 @ 2:13pm
@Warriordude - for Shieldwall we added the stuff of this mod in Shieldwall style, see link in mod desciption above: "Shieldwall Overhaul: Authentic Names"
Warriordude 15 Nov, 2021 @ 12:56pm
@Arisvara So this does work with Shieldwall then? Do you need to use this mod with Shieldwall Authentic names?
Anisvara  [author] 14 Nov, 2021 @ 2:58pm
Thanks for the responds. In the this Vanilla version I have a strict system for better overview. Same terms for levy units, same terms for heavy armoured units, same terms for weapons and so on. I choosed also terms similar to terms in modern languages, as sword and spear. So last night I could directly identify the quality of the Viking raider infantry. All were heavy armoured.

In the shieldwall version I translated directly the shieldwall terms (when possible). :Saxon:
Warriordude 14 Nov, 2021 @ 1:36pm
Maybe you can make some cool Nicknames for Viking raiders.
CRPoV 12 Nov, 2021 @ 3:42pm
Thanks for this
