Thanks, im glad to hear you like this map. :3
well, I mean...you asked if content was packed into the map. the description says the answer. so obviously if your asking, you didn't read the description (or possibly dont realize that a bsp is the map file)
Xddd i know that
read the description.
thanks. :D
its suprising. in hammer you can basically spawn the exact same entity as gmod lamps use, called env_projectedtexture.
it causes some performance issues on a couple older computers here-and-there but other than that im not sure why more gmod maps dont utilize it. its a great feature
thank you. :) im glad you like it
thanks. :)
its alright, im mostly just tired of explaining it over. :P
I didnt name the facility after that at all. its just a coincidence.
it is another term for aperture; and i named it iris because when i first made the mod this was based on back in 2014, it had a story about an alternate universe version of aperture named similar-but-differently.
tbh i wish people would stop automatically comparing this to the iris project or the hidden or whatever else based solely on the name. it doesnt even resemble the horror stuff people keep comparing it to.
ah ok. thank you for clarifying. i will have to think about it. it depends on the type of modifications you want me to make. in the meantime, you can fill out a comission form here:
https://checkpoint.cc/fenfox/commission-form/custom-portal-2-map_902
(this one is for making a portal 2 map from scratch; but you can specify the modifications you want to make to rp_iris and i'll review it and make a decision later)
oh, i see. so you mean like a paid commission to modify this map for a specific server?
what do you mean by getting a modification of the map...?
yes. but this map might not be; atleast for now. i'll work on it when/if i feel like doing so
there are a couple doors in this map that are locked or sealed shut; in a future update im planning to add additional rooms there. i havent found a concept i really like for them yet though
Not even remotely.
Glad it worked. :) glad you liek the map, too.
now, if you dont mind, im going to delete some of your comments just to tidy things up slightly. if you have other issues post them in the discussion thread instead or contact me on discord
Yep. the soundscapes packed into the bsp are all just portal 2 soundscapes, but i wasnt able to find a reasonable way to pack the sounds themselves, so thats why people with portal 2 (or at least it's sounds) will hear the soundscapes, whereas nobody else will.
as an additional note; this is only necessary for people who dont have the right hardware to run dynamic shadows and stuff natively, and not good advice to follow for people who do.
i dont want people to follow your advice blindly if they dont already have issues because then they'll complain about an issue that this caused, without giving me any way to help them figure out what is causing it.
what errors specifically? also, did you download any other addons at the same time you got this map? if so, please unsubscribe from this, then clean up your gmas, then let me know if the issue persists. there is no way that i am aware of for this to cause issues on any other map, however it may still be possible.
-force_vendor_id 0x10DE -force_device_id 0x1180
you dont need portal 2. :)
..that said though; the soundscapes might not work wihout it, but thats a pretty minor non-issue.
already answered that question.
no, but, it won't be hard for me to add them in a future update. thanks for asking. :)
@Noobie
the IRS is the "Internal Revenue Service"...so yes. they are tax collectors.
people keep making IRS jokes here because they keep thinking it's a funny original joke to pretend they didn't see the other "I" in "IRIS", but it's really not a very intelligent joke, because they don't take it further than that. it's on the same, low tier as those idiots in the back of any given high-school science class laughing at the scientific name for human beings just because it has "homo" in it.
tax collectors?
