When you escape you start falling through the skies. No way to get back to the menu, only option is ALT-F4. Other than that its a nice map.

Sorry, I'm not quite sure which area you are stuck at but you should be able to skip checkpoints by typing "cp#" in the chat/console. Checkpoints: cp0-7
If you are stuck on the coffee table, you'd have to collect the stars to gain access to the party popper. If you're stuck on the platform on the Christmas tree, try swinging on the ornaments to get to the next platform.
