I guess a the base making just a circle at first and then build upwards layer by layer.
The smaller ships one can do the interrior at the same time, the larger once may have enough free space inside. Whereby this could be also be used visually and that would be where it might get a bit tricky, having docking ports for smaller ships on the inside or though not on scale., but city destroyers attaching on the inside on that moonsized ship.
As i am just starting out in this game, i don't want to take on something big like that only then to maybe loose interest in the game overall. Currently i am just having fun playing it through with a friend the first time and installing some of these awsome creations from the workshop :)
As i see you not shying away from some rather large puzzles :) so to speak,
how about the ID4 ship line, the small fighters, the troop cariers(which could be in avorion as hawlers and miners maybe, the city destroyers with fleet capability, and then the quarter moonzised mother ship from the first film. I am unsure that the planeteater from the second ID4 fim could be done on scale, even the city destroyers seem huge. But hey you made the babylon 5 space station after all =)
