@FearTheBunnies - That sounds like a good compromise. I'll give it a go once I get back to the game (probably the weekend). Hopefully it'll only take that to stop it crashing. Thanks.

@Scroller In this situation I would recommend making a small config tweak to cap the number of Lost reinforcement waves that can spawn.

In "XComGameData.ini" change the following:

[XComGame.XComGameState_BattleData]
-LostMaxWaves=-1
+LostMaxWaves=5

This will create a hard cap for the amount of lost that can spawn.

@FearTheBunnies - Thanks for getting back to me. The issues are that it causes noticeable delays during some missions that may actually be cumulative. Also, there have been situations where a swarm appears, several get killed and detonate, which brings another swarm immediately after the first. The same thing then happens again (some soldiers have Trigger Happy) and can actually keep happening unti the game crashes. This has happened a number of times because Lost World is active (and not temporary). I've been able to mitigate these issues by trimming the number of Lost with the console but I don't always have the chance due to the occasional swarm cascade.

All that said, I really like the idea (and the amount of damage it causes to Advent buildings is quite satisfying) but it makes the game unplayable at times.

Is this the mod that introduced the 'explosive Lost' dark event? I've had a bit of an issue with it and wonder if anyone else has had the same issue.

@FearTheBunnies thank you! I just tested and this fixed the DEs not showing. It was a lot of manual work but eh, the pain one goes through to mod this game.

@Tacoaloto I think this is a weird interaction with how existing games handle the creation and management of Dark Events. My hunch is that your existing game had state objects created for ALL S:DEs and then when the DE Template was no longer being created it suddenly caused everything to "show up" when it shouldn't. I apologize that this update borked your game like that.

This issue sucks, and I'm sorry it affected you. From all research that I've done, it looks like creating a new campaign will not have this issue. This will only occur in an existing campaign. To fix this you will have to manually edit your local copy of this mod to remove the DLC="" lines from each DE definition, which will put them all back into your game and it should behave like it did before this update.

I just started a new month, I have 6 dark events.
Project: Tesla Rage 1 shows up fine
Project: Lore Discipline shows up fine
Rest are
ERROR: No loc for AbilityDarkEvent_DE_Headhunter
ERROR: No loc for AbilityDarkEvent_DE_BattleTrainingSup
ERROR: No loc for AbilityDarkEvent_NoCrit_Rulers
ERROR: No loc for AbilityDarkEvent_Savages_Shield_II

The strange thing is, I can see all of these within the .loc file, so I'm not sure why my save is not picking them up.

Also 2 of them completed immediately upon hitting "Continue," so that's even weirder.

With the New mod update, I have a lot of Dark Events that are showing Localization Errors. Is this because the attempted dark event does not have a target to apply to (aka not downloaded mod?)

The Dark events with that affect "Medics" are bugged they heal faster then I can damage them ls like fighting an army of wolverines. a single trooper can take my squad out

Just read the mod description of the Dark Event Manager to see how you can achieve the deactivating. The other way would be just deleting it out of the configs.

I am not planning to release a full list of Dark Events, but you can easily just read through the Localization file

@Stukov Is there an easy way to disable any events that are not desired? Considering the event that in your words makes winning almost impossible is an event that some players might not want to include in their campaigns. A complete list of the Dark Events here might also be welcome since this mod is pretty extensive.

i don't play LWOTC so can't say for sure, but i do think they changed something about how dark events are processed so i doubt it will run without problems with LWOTC

Personally i would advice against deactivating Dark Events

@PandaFlame To find the localization file you need to open the folder for this mod directly (<YOUR STEAM INSTALL DIRECTORY>\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\2729653244). There will be a subfolder called "Localization" which will have the XComGame.int file in it.

You can then open that file with any basic text editor (such as Notepad) and it will show you the full list of all Dark Events in this mod.

To disable certain dark events you have two choices.

1) Locate the correct XComAbilityDarkEvents.ini file and comment out the dark event there (by placing a semi-colon in front of the lines for that dark event)

2) Use the Dark Event Manager mod (which this mod requires) to disable it by adding to the Dark Event ID to the list of dark events to disable in XComDarkEventManager.ini. For Dark Events created by the Build-A-Dark-Event mod, the ID is "AbilityDarkEvent_" and then the name of the dark event (such as DE_HeavyWeapons, making it's ID "AbilityDarkEvent_DE_HeavyWeapons).

Does anyone have a full list of all dark events and what they do? I'm trying to find the localization file, but I can't find it.

Also, while i'm at it, can anyone tell me how to disable certain dark events should I not want to play with them?

@silverleaf1 Look at the localization file to get the full rundown of everything. And yes, if you have everything installed + permanent dark events then it can potentially get quite tough.

@FearTheBunnies & Stukov81-T.TV Most of the descriptions I have seen so far have been in the form of sentences. This is quite minor as far as the descriptions go but sentences end in periods. I notice that some of the sentences of some events end in periods but some do not.

The joys of the English language... As to capitalization, @silverleaf1, it should be Sustain because it is cueing the player that the Sustain ability is being applied via that Dark Event.

Not so sure about that but i am also very bad at english still i would always capitalize it. As for dieing .. apparently i have been listening to the wrong dictionary but again i am very bad at english :)

@Stukov81-T.TV I did not notice this until I looked more closely. Except for the first word in the sentence and Advent, since it is a proper noun, all other words should begin with small letters, not capital ones. So for instance Sustain should be sustain. If I see a similar situation in other dark events I will let you know.

without one listed the chance should be 100% as in the comments of the config: "ApplyChance, a percentage change rolled for each unit if they get the ability when the DE is active, default 100."

ok I have a question, was wondering how the apply chance works on dark events that don't have an apply chance listed. like some have an apply chance of 62 but some events don't have an apply chance listed. is it a flat chance for all those without one listed?

Thanks, my campaigns are usually very different from other campaigns. Just if you delete a line from the middle of the array i would suggest adjusting the number so it stays 0 - 1 - 2 - 3

Yes, removing the "AffectedGroups" line mentioning troopers will stop troopers from being affected by a given Dark Event

one last thing so if I didn't want troopers to be effected by a dark event for example a mocx dark events would it be as simple as deleting the text "troopers" in the ini? ps sorry about your campaign I saw the recent stream that put the nail in the coffin
