Think of it this way - imagine yourself on an archeological expedition finding an ancient vine press. It still works, but is bulky and cumbersome. And then you ask me to make it smaller and faster so it can fit in your kitchen.
Hope you see where I'm getting to here. Precursor tech belongs into museum. It's just do happens that it could also be used in a lab.
for a long time FU solar panels intentionally didn't even work on ships, now they work at 50% effect I believe (despite the fact that solar should be MORE effective in space without things like cloud cover to worry about). the upgraded solar panels being costly and useless is news to me but it fits with some of the terrible design decisions in FU.
i like some of the FU station but i also like the compact ones on here.
Base logic behind these resprites is to provide more freedom to build in any style instead of having to deal with being restricted to FU lab's white and yellow. Like, big white and yellow plastic-y chemlab can only look good beside equaly white and yellow equipment, which only somewhat suits apex and doesn't suit any other race at all, but if you throw away all fluff parts and only retain beakers and bunsen burner - you know, the things that are actualy used to do chem stuff - then you can fit them pretty much anywhere, from hi-tech apex labs to rustic glitch alchemist tower.
So point of this mod isn't so much to just shrink the stations as it is to liberate it from original mod's style tyrany.
Also I did shrunk solar tower almost twice the size, any more and it becomes rediculous.
Anyway, if there anything else that you think is unreasonably big, let me know and I'll look what I can do.
With railcrafting table, pretty much the only part that is fluff is the table itself aka surface. Both robotic arms are needed to print. Thats not to mention that one of the things this station produce are rail TRAMS, that are supposed to be big enough to fit an entire person. Tho I guess you can bypass this one, as trams usualy aren't monolitic enough to require solid construction.
Rail Crafting Table - will do once I figure out how exactly I can shrink it so it would make sence
Madness Crafting - maaaaaaaaybe, but most likely not. They are quite stylish and reasonable, I'm a bit into occult practices myself and trust me, atmosphere is mega-important in those, you DO want authentic stuff to do rituals, so big menacing books and scrolls actually feel right in place.
Industrial Centrifuge - does anyone use this thing even? Again, no logical reason to shrink that one, "Industrial" means it is designed to process bulk loads of stuff, so big size is reasonable.
The Athmospheric Regulator and Filter - you said it yourself, you can't expect a thing that affects an entire planet to be pocket-sized
Ship Component Assembler, Ship Component Racializer, Mech part Crafting Table - again, you said it yourself, you can't make a printer smaller than the stuff it prints
the Rail Crafting table
((because the Wiring Station and the Workbench have gotten same treatment))
the entire lineup of Madness Crafting stations
((with the exception of the autopsy table as you stated. but i wonder if they need it.)
the Industrial Centrifuge,
((however i could see problems arrising with the Honey Jarring Machine "addon" for honey))
The Athmospheric Regulator and -filter
((however those are altering the frickin athmosphere and deserve to be huge))
Ship Component Assembler, Ship Component Racializer, Mech part Crafting Table
((however those handle parts that ARE big so size is kinda ok in my eyes))
thats all what i can think of right now without further thinking about it.
and about the Mainframe. my guess is they made it small then somebody said "hey its a mainframe it has to be big!" and the artist just expanded and was to lazy to animate? :)
So I reduced it just to that. Since author clearly thought that tiny helix was important XD
Anyway, feel free to suggest another candidates to shrinking therapy if you happen upon one
...now i can rebuild the room again since i dont need that much space anymore....
I won't be touching precursor one, as all their furniture is bulky, that's kinda the style, and beside that, you can get their mainframe practicly for free, so it's bulkyness is a reasonable disadvantage to have. But science mainframe is now shrunk significantly, yes.
(Research Mainframe + Precursor Mainframe) I know they are supposed to be huge.... but come on the current sizes are just overkill. to reference the research computers just one tier lower are just as big as the player. if you could look into those i would appreciate it.
to clarify i dont expect you to shrink them tiny. but maybe half in size so they fit in a Standard room?
Speaking of good work - just updated nanofabricator and psionic junk, so you might want to check those.
And you can always point at the other stations you think eat up way too much space. I see what I can do... within reasonable, of course (like, I won't be touching embalming table, since it is big because you're supposed to fit a corpse on it, and characters are 4 tiles tall, so 4 tiles wide is a legit minimum)
maybe drop a note in the description that it needs a background wall and not a side attachment.
In your picture i can "now" see the glass behind it.... but its hardly noticeable.
And : Keep up the good work i really like this mod :) here have a award
So it is literaly impossible to make a sprite that would sit on uneven support.
I was entertaining the thought of making solar towers wall-anchored, but that seemed a lot more restrictive from design point of view, so I ended up with background anchors instead.
i finally decided to built a Solar Tower and was puzzled as why i could not put it down against a side wall ((like in your picture))
Finally after much experimentation it seems the new placing method for those is against background blocks!
is that the intended behavior or does something on my end mess it up?
You can either get it from package or from FU Github here:
https://github.com/sayterdarkwynd/FrackinUniverse/blob/master/dungeons/other/outpost/scienceoutpost-objects.png
What it means, is that if in the future Sayter decides to make changes to said map (which he's realy prone to do often and a lot) I would need to manualy copy said changes to my mod, otherwise it would become... I wouldn't say "unusable", but unpreferable for most people.
Sorry, but I'm not excited of becoming my mod's life-time tech support. I'd rather do something that only requires major update once in a year or so, than doing 10 itsy-bitsy-tiny-wheeny updates every week.
i noticed that some of the shrunken stations "float" (placed a block higher above the floor)
