The only textures missing are stuff like dev textures which aren't really needed and water textures which are not as straightforward to convert.

1k hrs: Ability to know what mods conflict which just by the layout
1.5k hrs: Good muscle memory
2k hrs: Near perfect muscle memory
3k hrs: Gmod addict, muscle memory, remember where something is without even needing to look at it, profesionnal.

Textures are the actual image file. Materials are a text file that state how the textures should come together to form a physical "material". By default, the ones used on map terrain in Source do not work with the tool. This addon adds version of these materials converted to work with the tool.

For this one specifically you shouldn't need the game. For the others you do. You need this addon if you want to use the map materials with the tool, as by default they use a shader that cannot be used with the tool.

It adds the HL2 materials to the material tool list and makes them work with the tool itself. It does not include the actual textures. They should be in GMod by default. If not, you need HL2 or a HL2 content pack.
