The localization should be fixed with the latest update I did. I will triple check and push a fix if necessary. You can always unsubscribe/resubscribe to this mod to force an update as well to see if that fixes it for you.

Assuming this is just caused by some shift in the update. When trying to train new Patchworks on saves that existed prior to the update the class comes up with a blank name. In GTS it shows up at the top of the options without a name then when trained remain blank.

Sorry folks, hadn't realized I had done a partial conversion of the class to a standalone class instead of a replacement for the OG. When I pushed a bugfix to allow the Proficiency Perk to work at Brigadier rank, it pushed up that partial change.

You will need to rebuild your Prof Patchworks. Using a mod like Additional Soldier Commands to run `RebuildSelectedSoldiersClass MZPatchworkProf #` where # is the rank of your Patchwork.

Assuming the weapon category has been added to the soldier class's allowed primary weapons. By default the only allowed primary is shotgun.
Kinsect 28 Nov, 2024 @ 9:15pm
oh yeah can the Patchwork also use LordAbizi's ANGUISH smg's?
silverleaf1 16 Apr, 2024 @ 6:25am
@FeartheBunnies If I opt not to promote on the screen immediately following a mission, the promotion option disappears.
silverleaf1 15 Apr, 2024 @ 3:03pm
@FeartheBunnies Except for Exvent, Toxicologist and Xeno Zoologist all classes are proficiency classes. I am unaware of any of them having brigadier rank, and none of them indicated they had such a rank.
FearTheBunnies  [author] 15 Apr, 2024 @ 2:21pm
Follow-up question @silverleaf1: Do you use any other class mods with Brigadier rank? Trying to narrow down root causes.
FearTheBunnies  [author] 15 Apr, 2024 @ 5:33am
@silverleaf1 That... is interesting... I'll dig into it.
silverleaf1 14 Apr, 2024 @ 11:37pm
@FearTheBunnies I have two of this class at max rank, but they both show they can be promoted despite being at top rank. I am playing with Covert Infiltration.
FearTheBunnies  [author] 31 Jan, 2023 @ 3:13pm
@Kinsect By default it uses shotguns and gremlins. If you have the WIO+SMG patch it will auto-enable SMGs as well.
Kinsect 31 Jan, 2023 @ 2:06pm
Does this class use any other weapons like smg's?
Katastrophie 9 Oct, 2022 @ 7:57pm
@FearTheBunnies it's no problem, you're welcome and thanks for the excellent mod. Keep up the great work
FearTheBunnies  [author] 9 Oct, 2022 @ 6:08pm
@Katastrophie I think I understand now. Yeah, Ionic Capacitors is a unique new skill and is a dead giveaway you are using the proficiency build. In theory just by having this guy it should have overridden the configs for the OG class, so then when a new unit is promoted it would have the proficiency skill. I'm sorry it required extra configs for it to work for you. Thanks for the report, though, and I'll keep my ears open to in case anyone else has the same issue and see if there is something I can do to fix it.
Katastrophie 8 Oct, 2022 @ 6:32pm
@FearTheBunnies you're all good, I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it well enough. Originally when I promoted a soldier into the Patchwork class, I went in and looked at the soldiers' abilities and the Ionic Capacitors ability wasn't there, only the 3 starting abilities for the original class were there. So no the "Proficiency upgrade" was not there. Nor was the Xcom ability tree (just like the original mod). After looking at the .ini files I figured that this mod was meant to change the original class and disable it from being seen in game and instead only getting the Proficiency upgraded class, but unfortunately that didn't occur. I hope this helps to better explain the issue I ran into.
FearTheBunnies  [author] 7 Oct, 2022 @ 5:58pm
@Katastrophie If I am following what you are saying, when you selected the Patchwork class, it did NOT have the Proficiency upgrade to it? This mod was designed that if it is active, it converts Patchwork into a Proficiency class, as opposed to some of the other conversions which creates a whole new class. In theory your stuff was working fine when it rolled the "OG" Patchwork and if you selected it, it should have given you the Proficiency one instead. Think of this mod as a replacer, not a side-by-side clone.

Forgive me if I'm coming across as dense, just trying to wrap my head around exactly what you are seeing so I can look into how the configs may be borked so I can fix it for others who are also having the same issue.
Katastrophie 5 Oct, 2022 @ 4:29pm
@FearTheBunnies I did more testing. I downloaded the OG Patchwork class again and then downloaded Proficiency Port: Patchwork Soldier Class again. Did not touch any .ini files. Booted game back up, having set Choose My Class mod to 40 available classes to show, but once again only the OG Patchwork class showed up, and no Proficiency version of the class. It's very odd as this is the only class I've had this happen with (I'm using every Proficiency class mod available on steam workshop). I went back into the XComClassData.ini for Proficiency Patchwork and added in the stuff I said in my original post. Back in game it's now back to just Proficiency Patchwork showing up. So everything seems to be working fine.
FearTheBunnies  [author] 5 Oct, 2022 @ 8:38am
@Katastrophie Ah, I see the confusion now. This mod modifies the OG patchwork and changes it into a Proficiency style class. There is only 1 class. If you want non-Proficiency, use the base mod. If you want Proficiency, add this mod. So when you removed the class from the OG, it removed the ENTIRE class, which is why you needed the other stuff.
Katastrophie 4 Oct, 2022 @ 8:10pm
FearTheBunnies at first, I did a test to make sure all my mods were working properly before starting a real campaign. During the test the only Patchwork class that showed up was the original class, but never the Proficiency version you made. So I went in to the ini files for the original class and disabled the class. This should have worked (I had to do this for the Stormrider class as well, because I was using the Electroraider Proficiency class mod) but the Proficiency Port: Patchwork Soldier Class wouldn't show up at all until I did the edits I described below. It's working fine now and I am enjoying the class so, thank you for the mod and keep up the great work. :)
FearTheBunnies  [author] 4 Oct, 2022 @ 6:34pm
@Katastrophie That is odd. I have not had that issue, and the Patchwork Soldier Class base mod should be doing that as well.
Katastrophie 4 Oct, 2022 @ 12:52am
Had to open the "XComClassData.ini" and paste this in the top of the file in order for this class to actually show up in game, when promoting a rookie.

[XComGame.X2SoldierClass_DefaultClasses]

Tried setting Use My Class, set to display 40 choices, but this class never showed up until I did the above. Hope this helps someone if they run into the same issue.

Congrats on the release by the way - Always happy to see more classes added to the option pool!
shiremct 10 Sep, 2022 @ 3:14pm
Yes, Choose My Class pays no heed to the forced deck either, so each promotion is another random roll with the same low odds - if you are running a bunch of classes, it may be many many promotions before one rolls.
aenitorma 9 Sep, 2022 @ 7:34am
@KnoxAHHHHHHHHHH , FearTheBunnies Thanks guys, probably insane "luck" or something, because i can see this class with 4 classes selection with Choose My Class. Funny, but it does work.
KnoxAHHHHHHHHHH 9 Sep, 2022 @ 7:09am
It truly depends on how many mods you have installed in your campaign that provide classes, and if you have a mod that guarantees providing a soldier the class from Character Pool because having a "+NumInDeck=2" decreases the weight a good amount. I believe the problem would most likely be just straight bad luck as it is possible for a class with low weight to just not get a soldier for a while.

If you want to confirm that it should be working, install krj12's Use My Class, which allows Character Pool soldiers to be the class you choose in the menu. This mod doesn't "force" the class so if it doesn't show up, you can know something is wrong.
FearTheBunnies  [author] 9 Sep, 2022 @ 6:01am
@aenitorma That is very very strange. I just did a small test and when using Choose My Class I had the Patchwork option appear without issue. I did reduce the NumInDeck for Patchworks to 2 by default to make them a little scarcer, but they should also be in the forced deck, which means you should get at least 1.
aenitorma 8 Sep, 2022 @ 4:26pm
@Stukov81-T.TV yeah ive started new campaign when i installed this mod
Stukov81-T.TV 8 Sep, 2022 @ 3:44pm
have you tried with a new campaign?
aenitorma 8 Sep, 2022 @ 3:20pm
Its weird, +NumInDeck=4. For now its GTS only for me. Promoted about 30 soldiers till now. Gonna try later changing setting in Choose My Class with 4 classes. But thanks
FearTheBunnies  [author] 8 Sep, 2022 @ 2:46pm
@aenitorma If you have it configured for only showing 3 randomly selected classes, then it would mean that this class was not selected to be shown in that given block of 3 displayed classes. It is not meant to be GTS only. You can verify that the class if available by looking in XComClassData.ini for this mod and the original Patchwork Class mod and checking that NumInDeck is set to a number > 0.
aenitorma 8 Sep, 2022 @ 2:08pm
Cant see this class to pick with Choose My Class. Setting is for 3 class random classes. I guess GTS only?

So it's like a... tanky gremlin specialist scout? Alright, seems interesting. Could be especially good for vipers with their increased mobility.
Stukov81-T.TV 8 Sep, 2022 @ 8:48am
great job as always
